Has something also happened to the disc golfers R us site?  I went there today and received this message:

Our apologies
We're sorry, this site has an issue.

Please try refreshing the page in 30 seconds, or let us know if you get this message again.

I did so and received the same message.  So, how is the security heeeeeeeeeere.....

The rest of ning is up, so I'm not sure what's going on with dgrus.
500 is an internal server error.
Back up.

Who cares about the message board? I'm trying to upload results from a tournament, view the pre-reg for another tournament this weekend, view Course Development documents for a course I am pitching, and access the course directory for a trip next week, and I can't even f'king do any of those things!   :angry9:

stpitner

yeah... they should have been able to restore at least part of the site instead of just a hah yeah right sorry front page.  It's not THAT difficult.

It's really screwing over the tournaments that are coming up this month... and I'm sure the TD's won't get a price break and sanctioning or anything either.  Your tournament in the tour listing is one of the best advertisements out there. :(

if you go to pdga.com right now it redirects you to the message board.  That's at least good.  I still wish I knew what the homie pre-reg looked like (if they were putting it online early)  - they are offering Novice this year and I don't know if I should go for that or play up... want to avoid as much baggage as possible!

Home pre-reg would not have been online anyway.

From the PDGA site:

Dear PDGA Members and Message Board Visitors,

As you are probably already aware, the PDGA website is currently down as we undergo a comprehensive security review in preparation for the launch of the all new PDGA.com website next week. The PDGA Message Board has now been brought back up to facilitate communication during this time. Additionally, the office staff is available to assist you with course directions, tournament information or any other information you may need in the next couple of days. We thank you for your continued patience as we go through these inconvenient but necessary steps to ensure the security and quality of the new website. The IT committee has dedicated countless volunteer hours working on this project for all of us so I would respectfully request that you all join me in extending our most sincere thanks and support to them, rather than leveling unproductive criticism which will only further slow the process.

We invite you to check back next week for the launching of the new and improved PDGA.com!

Regards,

Brian Graham

Ah crap. I bet the new site will break some of the things I have in the club's member/contract app, like looking up PDGA numbers, ratings, etc. It would be cool if we can embed a RSS feed from pdga.com on the front page of our site tho.
Don't forget your towel!

The elves are waiting to see how much work a new data scraper is going to be. It will be hard to balance calculating new ratings in November and making toys. Then there's always Hermey... :)

Wait so a new and updated look isn't what everyone wanted from the new website? I personally enjoy a freshly updated website a lot more than the PDGA prescribed membership benefits.

At least we have Google's cache of certain pages to find past results or other information.

they still have a looong way to go.  I wonder how many people are working on it.  Coding and making it all look good and work well sure isn't easy!

The new look is actually pretty nice and if things are kept updated better (rather than still having links to 2004 documents), then that will be a good thing. The lament is that for those of us that do data scraping, some recoding is in order. Not a big deal and a small price to pay for progress.

Tourney pages and player stats are now available. There isn't a form yet to get to the player stats pages, but you can get there via a tournament page with the player you are interested in.

Unfortunately, the function for TDs to upload event results won't be back up for a while (according to Chuck).

i just went on the pdga site and you cant get anything for round lake and pitners tourney over the weekend and there is of course nothing on the tourney web site that gets you results this new site sucks. they need to go back to the old web site at least people could understand it

pickax

You don't read do you? The function for TDs to upload event results is not back up yet. Jon and Scott do not yet have the ability to update scores. The new site is much better, but it is still a work in progress to get the old functionality back without opening up the sight to be hacked again.

hahaha....

Jordan just jumped the gun on that one....

The new site is killer, I dig it. There is a ton of work involved with the database side and you can't expect that
to b up in a few days...
