The fiance and I are heading up to MInneapolis for the weekend to escape for a couple of days and stay with friends and family.  SHE brought up the idea of stopping to play to break up the ride as well as playing out there for something cheap/free to do everyday.  That's my girl!!!

We will be taking the Rockford-Madison-Dells-Eau Claire-route both ways.  If anyone has any preferences/suggestions on where to stop in particular, all input is appreciated.  I do not need long course for obvious reasons.  The more scenic and beautiful the better.  She likes Central park (Oakbrook) and Castaldo park (Woodridge) because of the trees and hills.  She even enjoyed Summit park because we were in the woods the whole time.  So it won't be that hard making sure she isn't bored or annoyed unless the basket is constantly over 500ft. plus if you know they have actually bathrooms and not port-o-potties that could be a huge selling point but not a deal breaker by any means.

Oh yeah, we will not be stopping at Highbridge.  only because I would not be willing to leave and there are plans in the works for a weekend there next year.  We will probably be stopping at Pioneer Grill to eat and play their 9 hole at Lamb's Creek one of the ways in Menomonie.

I digress...so i summary any course suggestions for the road and in Minneapolis/St. Paul is appreciated.

Thanks,

Justin Trails in Sparta would be number one on my list.  They have bathrooms and it is only a couple of miles off of the interstate. There are two courses, both are fun, but one is much tougher than the other. $5.00 to play  all day.

has anyone played - Wildapple disc golf course in Osseo, WI?

It in my binder for the road but on dgcoursereview dot com it has no one listed as played.  I was curious to try it out just because it has "chime targets".  was wondering if it was still there. or if the guy was a douche.  or if it is a trap for "hippies"  and we will be stuffed into a meat grinder.

Any additional information appreciated.

can't putt

I haven't played the course, but I do know a little about it.  It is pay to play on 40 acres of private property.  It is chime targets, but I don't know the details of the chimes.  The owner is Don "Tick" Ticknor (PDGA #20002) and is an extremely nice guy and (ehem) "hippie" tolerant.  The course is open on Sundays or other times by appointment (715.597.2001)  Tick told me that while it is technically pay to play, he doesn't really enforce the fee.
