Maybe this one can try to be quasi-current and actually publish on time? I just got FDM at the house the other day & haven't opened yet.

Aren't you itching to see those results from last April?  >:D

How many issues of FDM did people who actually subscribed to the magazine receive this year? IIRC I passed out three issues at doubles.

Only 2 so far. With the website  being jacked and the crappy magazine, I'm seriously reconsidered not renewing my membership. Jason

I think Maddisen got 3. The PDGA didn't get around to sending me my card and renewal packet until late July. I renewed in January.

I should modify my previous statement about how many issues I've handed out at doubles.... I've only had 2 issues that I can think of. What I have at my house is I assume to be the last issue of FDM.

Is there anyway to get your money back if you didn't all the magazines?

mirth

Good luck with that. Let us know if you do.

The email I sent to Brian Graham. Feel free to plagiarize.

Brian Graham,

I request the money I paid for Flying Disc Magazine (FDM), as part of my PDGA membership, be returned. I have only received two issues of the four that are claimed to be published. The magazines that I did receive were of poor quality. I am not interested in reading about smarmy guys that play Frisbee with their dogs or family vacations to Hawaii. FDM should devote more of their time to producing a quality magazine for the PDGA instead of promoting an instructional DVD. I am not the only PDGA member severely disappointed with the magazine, as you are probably aware. Hopefully this problem can be solved efficiently. Jason Sternberg

I thought the Worlds coverage was totally lame.  Our World Championship is all about having 20 or 30 divisional champions and he only covered two of them.  RR at least would give every divisional winner a paragraph.  He gave better coverage to Ultimate, dogs and some tournament I've never heard of.

I'm renewing because I might want to go to Worlds or USADGC or Bowling Green or any one of a half dozen A-tiers I can think of.  I might not renew the crew.  I feel like ams get stiffed over and over by this organization and I'm really tired of supporting that.

Brian Graham emailed me back and said I will receive my missing issues shortly. Jason

I am renewing in order to run events that y'all can play. I think there are a lot of people working for the PDGA that are doing a great job but I think the PDGA has out grown its architecture. The reason that the PDGA does not always deliver the best value for the amateur player is the same reason that it falls short on delivering for the pro player. I think at it's size it is time for the PDGA to spin off an amateur organization. This would help the PDGA concentrate on making the pro tour the best it can be while the new org can serve the amateurs and their needs. I think this would also help to elevate the professional disc golfer's status by having a clearer distinction between what is a pro and what is an amateur.

I couldn't believe that they had a story about Worlds and neither a single picture of nor a single word about the women's AM champion.

I got all 4 issues and felt they looked ok but had a lot less to say than DGWN.  The latest issue did have some tips that I actually took to heart.  I saw my name listed in the results as coming in 3rd in the Greater Milwaukee Open. Lets face it, that is a RARE occassion. But then again, who cares about the GMO which was played in May in late November/early December?  And, while we are at it, who in the world cares who comes in 3rd in Novice! Results are generally old by the time they appear in a magazine but these results could get an AARP card.

i only received 1 magazine this year and it was the other day. i had a 2 year membership that expires this year, so you would've thought i would get all 4. and i didnt get my renewall package untill july.
this is why the pdga doesnt do as good as they should, because poor service = less members.
i will renew for next year cause its cheaper than payin the extra 10 bucks for nonmembers at tournaments considering i did 11 sanctioned and 10 unsanctioned in 2008.
i agree with the idea of having a spin off for ams. that way advanced players realize they are amatuers like the rest of us in am1,2,3,4. i ran into a couple advanced players at the river city rumbles this year that were makin fun of everyone in the am class, untill i proved to them they were ams too. they were out of their game tryin to prove us wrong and tied for last in am1and i beat them by 23 points  >:D

you also played the short tees at west lake for RCR while the advanced players played from the longs, that makes quite a difference

not to them it didnt, cuz they said they would beat the score of any person that played the short tees that day. they were proven wrong!

I will be glad to see Rothstein involved again; the old boys network wasn't always bad.
And yes, his coverage was much more in-depth with nearly equal effort given toward AMs.
