I'm looking for ideas from people on where you'd like to see a tournament happen to wrap up my season this year.  I'm running the tournament on 10/17-18, the (presumed) weekend after the Homie.  I don't have a course picked out right now, but I would like it to be at least an 18.  I don't really want to go north of the border, and I'd like to stay from going no further south than the Joliet area.  Is there a course where we're missing out?  Is there one that has a tourney early in the year that is worthwhile to have a later in the year tournament?

Open for ideas and suggestions :)

I think that if you go to red rock home page they have their dates up for the 09 season.

Would Sinnissippi be to far?  I could see a fall tournament there having a large turnout...

Actually, I'm trying to talk a buddy who has some great land (they have 3 ball golf holes already) into letting me bring baskets out and run a tournament.  The property is in Ottawa.  Maybe that is a good option?

intriguing idea Dana!  I'll definitely have to keep that under consideration.  Ottawa is pretty close for the Joliet/Aurora folks, and only 2 hours for the folks up near Waukegan.  That would certainly be unique.

Please do keep me informed on that :)

Still interested in hearing other options/opinions! (maybe thumbs up responses to Ottawa as well from others?)

Antioch is another 18 hole course but it aint the greatest

Or u can do waukegan again

maybe even rockford

Bartlett has no parking lot, so it makes it difficult for a large quantity of people and cars.  If only that course had more trees (big ones - oh and better tees too).

I'll let the Rockford guys handle Rockford this year.  I see they have something on the schedule for the first half of June.

Why would you suggest Bartlett and then point out Antioch isn't that great of a course. Bartlett is just as bad if not worse.

Why not do a rewind theme tournament and find a course that plays really fun backwards. It'll be totally different for most of the locals and the theme fits with a year-end style event. It will also give those of you that like to design courses a good opportunity to look over the area and create new holes, considering most of the time playing backwards isn't the safest thing to do when there is a lot of traffic. You'll most likely need to be creative with the tee placements.

Ottawa is a great idea for a dg tourney. Let's have the players meeting at the Silver Slipper.

sergeant means park in olypmia fields is a decent choice.  it's not one of the hardest courses out there but it's a fun course.

the other option that popped in my head was what is the status on the 18 hole course they are opening in Hoffman Estates?  Will it be installed by this fall? might be an option as well.

on the Antioch/Barlett topic, i'd be more likely to plan a tourney at Antioch than Bartlett.  Not to belittle Bartlett, but that where I would go if i wanted to field test discs with baskets to aim at.  Don't get me wrong, I have fun there, but I have fun at O'Brien Park in Downers Grove too.  I still probably wouldn't play a tourney there either.  my two brass cash...i mean cents.

Or the Lamp Lighter!
Anyone been to the Lamp?

I'll make a call tonight about possibly using the property....I've scoped it out a few times and it could definitely have a really fun layout.
Vibram Disc Golf, Ledgestone Insurance, Paragon and Whirld Sports are all cool. Real cool.

I believe im going to run another tourney this year at oly... In the spring we are changing the course up alittle to make it flow better... This year the tourney will be ran differently.. certain things got in my way of running the kind of tourney i wanted to run last year.... it would most likely be in july...

Scott perhaps run a tournament at a 100% temp course.  Blackwell park in (Warrenville), Mallard Lake (Hanover Park) or Green Valley (Woodridge).

I suggest this as I know the DuPage forest preserve is considering putting perm courses at these parks and a event with a temp course that goes well might help spur them to action.
