Hey all,
A friend and I are heading your way next weekend; March 27,28,29.  Our plan is to play quite a few courses I've not played yet.  I know many of these are nines....but, you gotta do what you gotta do.  Any important info on our itinerary would be appreciated.  Not sure if we're beginning on Friday or Saturday at this point.  My traveling mate is still wavering.  Anyhow here goes day 1: Woodlands, Rockton/ Porter Park, Roscoe, the two in Belvidere, Belvidere DGC and Prarie Fields, which I'm hearing good things about for a nine/ Kirkland, Pioneer Park/ and probably finishing with Prarie Park, in DeKalb.  I know I'm skipping Rockford, it's one of my favorites, and I've managed to play it at least once a year for 20 years.  But, not on this trip; unless my traveling partner REALLY  begs me...
We are hoping, at this point in our travels, that someone will offer us some floor space to sleep on.  Either near DeKalb, or near Sinnissippi; as that will be our starting point for day 2.  I love Sinissippi as well; and even though I've played that one quite a few time as well, I can't skip two awesome destinations!!!  Gonna throw some small golf at Nims Park too.
Then, we're headed west to Morrison, Kelly Park/ Fulton, Mill Creek Park (looks as though the 18 hole in Clinton, IA is a must play too)/ and north to Savanna, Old Mill Park/  Mt. Carroll,Point Rock Park/ and finishing our whirlwind northwestern Illinois jaunt at Krape Park in Freeport
As usual, it looks as if I've bitten off more than I can chew for this second day.  This is why I'm thinking it's a three day trip.  So, anyone out there with some floor space  near the Savanna/Mt. Carroll area would also be greatly appreciated.
Some background: I've been playing since the late 1980s.  Have played more than 100 courses in Wisconsin and 38 states total.  My PDGA # is 9066.  Have thrown in 32 courses in your wonderful state.  Some of my very first tournaments were played in Illinois; as we had few courses here in Cheeseland in those days. :lol:Have stayed with Brian Cummings, played with Alex Bingman and the Jet Man, and look forward to playing with a few of you on this journey if you're interested.
Let me know of any info on the above courses and possibilities of hospitality/sleeping arrangements.  Would also like to meet up and play with some of you if nothing else; especially on 18 hole courses.  Local knowledge always speeds up the play/helps with shot making/ and makes the overall experience more enjoyable.
Thanks,

Paul

sounds fun.
i would skip rockton unless you want to throw thumbers the whole time and walk around looking where to shoot next. no signs or pads, every fair way is S shaped where you have to walk to find the basket before you throw. not worth the stop. (this is the time to play anna page)

the morrison course is in the cemetery very short, the teepads are 1footx1foot. also skippable if you want to go straight to clinton, iowa and have some real fun.

fulton is alright but watchout for the mississippi river, cause you play along side it.

theres only one course in belvidere to play and its well worth it for a nine hole, watch the pond on two cause you cant see it from the teepad. beautiful landscape, some long hard holes.

freeport is a very fun couse, i love to play there. play the pro pad for the creek shots.

kirkland is pitch and putt, but worth the stop. i mainly use my buzz and starfire.

play nims before sinnissippi to warm up the putts.

mt. carroll and savanna are nice to play back to back. watch the pond in mt. carroll theres rabib animals always around it.

ive never played roscoe.

if you play kirkland and dekalb friday let me know they are both 10 miles from my house and ill throw with you, but ill be gone saturday and then in channahon sunday.                        peace duain

Primarily due to weather; I have not made this journey yet.  Will attempt again in a few weeks.....3 mates and I are heading out April 8 for an even more mega journey.  This one was the original plan.  The afore mentioned trip was put together because there is such a number of courses in the north/middle/west chunk of Illinois that it formed it's self into a fun time of it's own. ;D  Thanks, Duain for all the info., I'll be in touch, for some possible play; when we get to your area.
Our adventure, BEGINNING TWO DAYS FROM NOW, will take us to Quad Cities > St. Louis > Centrailia....playing all points between.  When we return; I'll post concerning our extravaganza.

Brett -
Sinnissippi; I have played numerous times and love.  It is in reserve for previously stated trip.  Have also played McNaughton.  Will include Springfield and Morton on future journey.  Otherwise all the others you listed are planned for this extravaganza.  I have played J.B. and Sioux in the past and am looking forward to loving them again.  I am attempting to catch you at 100+ played in Illinois in the next two years.  Therefore, am playing a number of smaller courses during our travels this time.
