Hello all.  I doubt anybody knows me, but my name is Ken, and I'm currently residing in Detroit.  With an upcoming job opportunity, I will be moving out west to the Chicago area (have not found out where exactly, working on details).  I'm currently a member of the Motor City Chain Gang, and love me some AM3 disc golf (I'm a casual player).

I was wondering what leagues you guys may be having this coming fall and next spring/summer.   I usually don't play tournaments, just leagues/pick-up games.  I have only had a shot to play at Clark Park in Hoffman, but I'd like to check out the others.

Now I know what you're all asking.  What does this guy throw because he's so cool!?  I'm a very simple man, with very simple standards.  My main driver is a Z Tracker, and I also use a Gateway Sabre and champion roadrunner.  For my approach, I use my beat to poop DX Shark.  I can consistantly get it to fly straight for 200 feet, so it's good for those long/short approachs for me.  For puttin, KC Pro Aviar.  Also in my bag you'll find a nice cigar carrier for my cigars I smoke, normally CAO Gold and Romeo y Juliette.

Other than that, I hope you guys are a great group, and I hope to make new friends when out there playing.  When I get out there, I'll be taking a week to get to know the area (i'll be working outside sales for Bawls Guarana), and using that to get to know the disc golf courses, so I'll be posting up here.

Also, if anyone could tell me some good beers you may get out there, and good breweries, that'd be nice as well.

Hey  Ken...  I've been playing not too long, I live in the west suburbs about 16 miles outside the city. There are some great course's in the West, North and South burbs of Chicago, And some in the City limits that i have not played yet. Lemon Lake County Park in Crown Point IN. as 5, 18 hole course's on 403 acers of land... Only 1hr. 20 min. drive from Chicago.  Course's in the Chicago Land area are great to play and some are just minutes away from each other, so you can play both in a morning or an afternoon. Most are kept up nicely and have concrete, Brick or rubber pads for tees, Baskets are good as well. Lots of people playing in the afternoon from what i see, Thats when i get out to play.  Hope you get out here before the snow hits....  Have not played in that stuff yet. See ya out on the course

Old Style... the best beer in Chicago...well it's beer anyway

My favorite courses are in Joliet (about an hour drive from downtown)...West Park built in 1979 (I think) and Highland Park (completed in 2008 I think).  Highland Park seems to have been designed by a lefty while West Park is the norm with lots of hyzer shots.  Both West and Highland Park utilize the available terrain very well.  Just went to Summit Park today (5700 Archer Road...about 15-30 min from downtown depending on traffic) and it's not really a driving course but it's close by and not too bad...mostly wooded.  Lombard has two courses near each other.  Lombard Commons is the 9-hole and Madison Meadows is the 18-hole (+/- holes for them both) so together they make for a pretty nice run with a short break in between.  Those two are about 25-45 min from downtown depending on traffic.

I don't know anything about leagues so I'll leave that part of the answer to some other good samaritan... hmmm, I'd like to know that stuff too I guess.
