Monday qualifying is underway.  I read that Dana Vicich is on his 3rd qualifying attempt after having restarted once and shooting a 71 in his 2nd round.  Good luck Dana.  Right now the top 5 are 65,67,67,68,69.  Barsby is yet to post his score.  Will Schusterick with the 65.

My 2009 USDGC sleeper....Cam Todd.  He finished 2nd and 4th the last 2 times he competed here.

I guarantee the winner comes off of this list of players though (with past USDGC results)

Climo (3rd, 1st, 8th, 6th, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 2nd)
Schultz  (20th, 9th, 1st, 3rd, 6th, 1st, 2nd, 1st)
Nikko  (27th)
Avery  (2nd, 2nd, 4th, 25th, 19th, 63rd, 10th, 35th)
Feldberg (3rd, 3rd, 8th, 1st, 26th, 40th, 36th, 29th)
Doss  (1st, 3rd, 14th, 6th, 30th)
Anthon (8th, 14th, 4th, 16th, 17th, 15th, 18th)
Rico  (7th, 3rd, 7th, 12th, 20th, 6th, 27th, 11th)
Brinster (17th, 7th, 3rd, 12th, 18th, 52nd, 12th, 39th)
Cale  (12th, 10th, 23rd, 25th)
Lundmark (18th, 19th, 9th, 15th, 25th)
Kallstrom (41st, 41st, 15th, 29th)
Orum (6th, 14th, 20th, 12th, 93rd, 91st)
McCray (3rd, 14th, 12th, 32nd, 10th, 34th, 15th, 10th)
Schweb  (10th, 44th, 2nd, 5th, 4th, 15th, 20th, 19th)

Avery has clearly been the most consistent performer in the past 3 USDGC's and he's coming off his 1st World Title.  I think he picks up his 1st USDGC title on Saturday.  Climo, unbelievably, has never finished worst than 8th here, so don't expect him to be far off the pace.

Came close but couldn't finish.  I was the Kevin Gregg of monday qualifying yesterday.

During my first 71, I shot a 29 on the front (-4).  Going into 14 I was even on the back and I 4d that.  I then 4d 16.  Then I 5d 17 and 5d 18.  My 4s on 14 and 16 were both bad putter upshots and missed putts in the circle.  Wide open upshots less than 100 ft.  I just kinda got worried about getting my pars and took 4s.  On 17 I finally got my 3rd flick on the green and hit the basket with my jump putt.  18 threw OB off the tee and that was all she wrote.

During my 2nd 71 I was -1 going into 14 and proceeded to throw 3 drives DEEP.  This hole has BUNCR OB.  I never in my life would have thought that I would throw deep on that hole.  I guess the juices were flowing (even after being on the course ALL day) and I messed up.  After missing short I finally threw one in bounds and took a freakin 7.  I then 5d 15 and finished 16, 17 and 18 all with 3s and shot another 71.

The weather was tough for most of the day, it rained pretty good all morning into the afternoon.  The skips were big.
I was so close, 3-4 strokes are not that much on that course.  I'm pretty disappointed, but I gave it my best.  I was at the course at 8am and didn't leave until it was dark.  Started 3 rounds, my first one I had to turn around after 10 because I threw a bunch of BUNCR OBs on that one.

Every single shot and every single hole gets your heart beating.  It is unreal.  There is not 1 chance to let up on the whole course.  The moment you let up or loose focus, it can be over in a heartbeat.  As I witnessed with myself and countless others during my 2.5 rounds.

Once the course dries up and the sun comes out, I expect to see some much better scores.  My first 1.5 rounds in the rain were a grind.  Thankfully, I had a caddy, Mike Moser helping me out.

While practicing the on Sat and Sun I threw my putter in on the beach hole, #6.  I went to reach in for it cause it was only a few feet in.  I reached in and a sharp pole or something cut the hell out of my right palm   In the very center of my palm I've got about a 3/4ths of an inch gash.  What hurt worse than that was losing my main throwing putter/jump putter.  The cut was pretty nasty and I'm pretty sure that it was a rusty pole that got me.  I finished my practice round and bloodied up my discs in the process.  Then on Sunday I lost my main control driver on 18.

I'm probably gonna hang out and watch, maybe spot or caddy.  We'll see.  I'm looking forward to relaxing for a few days and playing some CASUAL golf in Charlotte.  That golf yesterday was so unbelievably stressful and draining mentally and physically.

That sucks about the cut on your hand.

You gave it your best out there, wish things could have gone a little more your way.  Hole 17 seems to claim alot of victims.  Hopefully I'll be able to travel there one day and check that course out.

Don't have a picture, sorry!  They are pretty cool.  The white ones feel like they have a little star mixed into them.

I went to the player meeting/dinner tonight and damn do they treat the players/caddys/staff good.  Player pack has an awesome huk lab sweatshirt, 2 dvds, a usdgc mug, snacks, $100 voucher for keen shoes, personalized shirt, personalized bag tag and some other random items.

As a thank you for letting me crash at his house, I'm caddyin for Matt Peckham (Innovan guy).  He tees off at 8 somethin.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Cam Todd, Jesper Lundmark and some of the other top guys play this week.

Stan,

Check out ebay. There are already some pictures up of the disc. The $20 price from Dana is a very good price.

Sr, I've got one stowed away for you!

They've got a bunch of the new Innova disc, the Mako as well.  I'd say it is pretty similiar to a Buzzz.  Feels like a Coyote in the hand.

Everyone make sure they register to watch online, even if you don't plan on watching! www.usdgc.com

Watching the live feed online this morning.  The sound barely works for me, I can't really hear anything, but that might just be my work computer.  The quality of the footage is pretty decent.  I just watched Mike Robinson park Hole 1 and could read his Iron Lion shirt quite easily.  Its not been the most thrilling thing to watch though, as I have no clue who most of the players are or what the situation is.  They could use some graphics to show you the Player/Hole/Score info to take this thing to the next level.  Right now its pretty much just watching a bunch of random shots on the holes that they have cameras on.  It does give you a pretty good perpective on some of the holes though and I think this would be fun to watch on Friday and Saturday when they are following the leaders.

On the live scoring update I can see some Japanese dude shot a 61 and Devan Owens is in with a 63 so far.  On the course, McBeth is on track for a good round, -7 through 12 holes (par 68).  Last year Doss won with a 61/55/62/58.

To adjust the sound, go to Start, Setting, Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices. Click on Volume, then click on Advanced. You'll need to adjust the Wave volume. That's what I did, at least, and I'm a complete moron when it comes to computers. The little bit I saw looked cool, though.

I love looking at the hole-by-hole scores.  Almost any of those holes can jump up and bite the best players in the world.  Holes 13-18 took alot of good rounds and threw them in the garbage today.  Feldberg and Schwebby with clean cards.  Orum took a 9 on the par 3 3rd hole and still shot 65 keeping him in the hunt.  Nikko took some big numbers as well but fired a ton of birdies and is in the thick of it.  I'd put low odds on anybody who shot worse than 63 today.  That would mean this year's champion is going to be:
Feldberg, Schweb, Nikko, Barry, or Doss.

Mike Robinson put a 67 on the board to start the tourney.  Nice work!  3 more of those and he'll be collecting a nice check on Saturday night.

While caddying for AO, I got to watch Avery who was on his card...And iIf you thought Feldberg was a bitch, Avery might just be a bigger one than him.

HA!  We heard it all from him already at the Rockford A tier and the Michigan Worlds.  If he's not shooting well every course has major flaws.  Clearly the USDGC course is no fluke.  The only champions in the 11 years of the tournament are Climo, Schultz, Doss, Feldberg.  Arguably the 4 best players in that timespan.

It's too bad he is such a D-BAG!  He is one of my least favorite pros on tour. He loves the courses when he's winning and hates them when he's not playing good.
