On Monday, October 26th I submitted the information for the Cold Turkey IV. It will be a PDGA C-Tier and it will be in a Milwaukee County Park. Like the previous 3 years it will be held the Saturday immediately following Thanksgiving which is November 28th this year.

After a handful of conversations with Mark "The Shark" Peterson he has decided that it is too risky for us to try and use Brown Deer Park again this year. Last year the weather was too mild and he fears if it is the same again this year we might hurt the course too much. I completely understand and respect that thought process. The last thing I like to do is tear up courses just for the sake of a single event.

Details still need to be worked out but look for us to move over to Dretzka Park and create a MODIFIED winter course. It will use many of the holes that you typically see during winter play but certainly not all 24. There isn't enough daylight to get in 2 rounds of 24. Especially when the event sells out like it did last year. More updates to come very soon but I wanted to at least announce this much.

Yea!  Thanks Terry.

Hi Terry:

I imagine the baskets will be moved around between now and then, but can you confirm whether or not the long tees will be played either round?

If winter doesn't hit before then I'm looking forward to this....
thanks,
Damon

Various pin placements are not an option because we will be using the one set of pin placements that are found on the Dretzka WINTER Course.  Unless there is a continuous, 3 week bout of Mother Nature's madness, the regular 27 holes at Dretzka will be pulled prior to this event and we'll be using portions of the Dretzka Winter course which is commonly used during Uncle Joe's Ice Bowl / Big Freeze / Big Chill thing.  We will not have enough time to play 2 rounds of 24 for this event so it will be 2 rounds of 18.

All (currently known) event details can be found on www.iRegisteredOnline.com or you can save yourself a few bucks by looking at the attached flyer and sending me your name, PDGA number, division, and other needed info to 360 Park Hill Drive, Unit E, Pewaukee, WI 53072.  BEWARE of the $10 late fees for everyone going into effect on Wednesday night, November 25th.  Current registrations can be found on the PDGA website link here => http://www.pdga.com/tournament-results?TournID=9688

PS - IRO has undergone some very serious updates in the past few weeks and more are scheduled to be implemented.  We look forward to serving thousands of TDs and competitors with its services and functionality.

I was told by Mark the Shark and Johnny Rumble that they were going to put the 'front 9' in last Monday as they pulled them off the regular Dretzka course.

The weather is what is holding everyone up from putting up more baskets.  If the weather is "too nice" they will still have the ball golf course open this week which obviously co-exists with our winter disc golf course.  Simple economics tells us that the paying ball golfers still carry higher priority than the non paying disc golfers.  No matter what, the Cold Turkey course will be playable by Friday but hopefully sooner.  I will be out there myself sometime next week once we have a better weather forecast.  I can update everyone at that point.

Thanks!

I had seen that the Shark had posted on the PDGA board that Dretzka had been pulled and that the Winter 9 was in. http://www.pdga.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=32830  Where is that course located? Is it all on the ball golf course?  Also, does this mean that Cold Turkey is 9 holes or is it 9 Winter holes and 9 more temps?  Are any of the original holes part of the Winter course? Just wondering. I am planning on playing Cold Turkey.

I just signed up, I am going to try and get there early to try the course before the tourney starts.  Is the back nine in now?  Or are you guys putting it in on fri.?  Just curious Milwaukee crew and see ya Sat  ;)

Dretzka has 27 permanent holes in the summer.

Dretzka pulls those 27 holes and puts in 24 completely different holes (and tees) which make up the winter course.  It uses 9 of the holes you saw during the Am Worlds but then 15 other holes that have hills and cross back and forth over the ball golf course.  Weather being too nice for the past few weeks is why we had to hesitate to putting all of the winter baskets up hence there are only 9 up right now.

HOWEVER, sometime between now and Friday another 9 to 15 baskets will be installed so that we'll be playing AT LEAST 18 holes per round.  Again, the winter course offers 24 holes but due to daylight we will only play about 18 to 20 per round.  No, we are NOT going to just have 9 holes in the ground and play those twice.  Someone mentioned that thought the other day and I told them they were crazy because for starters we would max out at 45 people.

Here is another note I just posted on another forum:

Registrations came flying in on Tuesday, November 24th.  Between mail in and online registration we more than double our participants which brings us to somewhere around 40!  The weather forecast is calling for 45 and SUNNY on Saturday.

For over a month we have advertised that registration fees will increase by $10 starting on Wednesday night.  I'd love to do a little relaxing on Thanksgiving so find some time to get registered on Wed and save everyone some headache!

Looking forward to a great event.  Did I mention yet that we have some of the FIRST CUSTOM STAMPED STAR MAKOS in the country?  Pretty sweet action for the player's pack.  Sign up today using www.iRegisteredOnline.com.

See you Saturday!

Every year there seems to be a last minute rush on this event.  The weather looks like it is going to be very good for this time of year.  It will be interesting to see which holes do get into the ground and how the circuit will be laid out.

The Cold Turkey is always a good time.  Terry does a fine job getting it up and going the day of the event even though there is typically a mad rush and people end up getting turned away.

Sign up now and avoid the rush, and save yourself $10.

I last posted on here around 3AM on Wednesday night.  At that time I had about 40 people signed up.  In less than 10 hours we went from 40 people being signed up to 60 people being signed up.  That means we had nearly 50 registrations in the past 3 days.

Late fees go into effect later tonight (as promised for over a month) so I hope everyone else gets signed up soon.  I was worried about a horrible turnout a few days ago and now I'm worried that we'll be sold out by Thanksgiving.

See you guys on Saturday!

Thank you to everyone that came out today.  What an amazing day!  Scores have been posted for a little while now.  Unofficial of course but they tell some sort of story:

Great event.  Very well run, lots of fun.  The nice weather that we had seems like a long time ago.  Nice article by Will Mueller.
