Holes #3,5,6, and 8 had the tees poured this week. I think the other 5 wiill be done sometime next week or so. Rob Strasser and my brother have been working hard this week. I think they said like 30, 60 pound bags per tee pad?  :o

For those of you who like the long tees? I say get here a day early for the GPO, cause with this getting done so soon, I would anticipate probably playing them. And if those tees were not already hard enough, wait till you see #6 now. It was a little in front of the bathroom, with 2 still possible. Not anymore. Way behind the bathroom now. will be a good shot just getting past the downed log in the fairway. Hole #9 from the longs, over the lake. No longer a hole??WOW, Disappointment!! They are talking about putting it up past #8's basket. And I think 12, 15, and 1 other are being moved, possibly 4.
I know #2 will be longer for sure. I guess they don't want any hole a possible 2 out there??
This may need to be a higher par than just 54 now? Heck it should have been already from these tees.

Sounds like they are transforming it from a really good course to a really, really, really good course!   ;D

actually talked to the TD for the GPO, and at least the front 9 will be played from the long tees, and the back will be the white tees.

#4 has been layed out ready for pouring. Talk about a neat shot.
#7 got a new tee as well, but it is a rec tee, makes the hole alot shorter.
#9 is ready as well. about 40' past #8's basket. It may be a mando, towards the lake, anhyzer shot. gonna be tough!

tee pad 40 feet past the basket?  sounds weak.

back 9 white tees at the GPO?  just for am women and jrs, right?
Vibram Disc Golf, Ledgestone Insurance, Paragon and Whirld Sports are all cool. Real cool.

I hope it's not the white tees from the pros. I look forward to playing McNasty longs every year. I'd even reconsider playing if that is the case.

no. He said everyone plays the same tees on Sunday at McNaughton. Since there are int, rec, and women and jrs playing, he said they shouldn't have to play the pro tees. which makes sense. He said he didn't want any confusion to who plays which tees, so everyone plays the same.

With Bradley being played in the long placements, Morton from concrete(#17 is in very long placement for good now cause of the erotion on the hillside where basket used to sit), there is nothing wrong with playing the back 9 at McNaughton from the whites(half those holes long tees are stupid anyway, 11, 12,14 15 and 17 (thanks Scott & Tim Martin) The 6 alternates are bombs the TD said, so it should even out??

and I'm pretty sure the whites were played all 18 at McNaughton last year. At least 9 longs are getting played out there. which is just fine.

Only Am's played the shorts at McNaughton last year.

pdga#7648

I see.
maybe since the different tee times on Sunday at McNaughton, maybe Pros will play all long tees?? Maybe he answered for my division?(advanced)
Either way it will be different from last year. We will be playing some long tees there, unlike last year. And again, he did say the other 6 holes will be a couple par 4's the rest 3's. He said there was just 1 hole that MAY be deuceable?? Water will come into play after regular hole #18, with Lake Butterfield.
Can't wait for this one. My last GPO as an Am!

So 1 of the 4 or so par 3 temp holes will be 2'able????  Do you know what par 3s and 4s are?

pdga#7648

That's what he said. (You, might be able to reach 1 of the 6 temps) So to me that means 1 of the 6, I might get a 2 on. The others be happy with 3.

And of course I know what par 3's and 4's are. #18 at McNaughton should always be a par 4. If #9 at Channahon last weekend from long tee was a 4, I know #18 should be.

Alright, maybe I need to consider moving back to the Peoria area.... ;D

I just traveled there last weekend.  Official reason was to visit my mum for Mother's Day.  But, I couldn't leave without playing one of the courses in the area.

We need the Peoria designers to give a sale pitch to our park district here in Champaign.  Our park district seems to have a huge budget for everything but disc golf.

okay, maybe I over exaggerated a bit. With the elevation of the tee pad, Pros and some advanced will be able to deuce this hole. I pitched a Pro Starfire within 35', and hit the putt tonight.

Hole #4 and #9 need some trimming, but they have been framed, ready to pour, along with #1.  3,5,6,8,10 have been poured, and looking very nice. A little longer pad than the white tees.

Actually, this is only temporary. The erosion issue on the hill will be fixed this year and then the basket will be moved back to the short spot. It will be in the long placement for GPO though.

Got a chance to look (not throw) at some of the new long tees for McNaughton.

Hole 4? Meh.  It is straight right like 15 ft from the normal tee.  Different and harder look, for sure.  I would have just left 1 tee there, but whatever.

Hole 6 I saw but didn't go look at so I can't comment. I hear its a great looking shot though.  Definitely a tougher 2.

Hole 7 looks pretty sweet.  It is like 150 in front and to the left of the regular tee.  It is in a little valley with a hill in front, I like it.  Water will come into play for righty backhand shots that hyzer out.

Hole 9 has me scratching my head. Maybe I'll understand it once there is some clearing done? In that case, what will the clearing do to the shot from the short tee?  There is no line to the basket, NONE.  Even though the original long tee was in the way of 8, it was still a classic hole and I would have liked to keep it as was.

Hole 17 is moved way back along the treeline.  Probably at least 100 back?  It looks like a good change, even though I kinda liked the original long.

I wish that there would have been some extensive testing and tweeking done on these new holes.  Instead, it sounds like one or two people went out and put holes in where they wanted to see them.  One of the great things about McNaughton longs  is that you have some chances to get some birdie 2s on the front.  No gimme 2s, but 'easier' chances.  With some of these changes, these holes become much tougher and harder to score the 2.  I guess what I'm saying is that I really enjoyed the original layout and the dynamic of the front vs the back.  I'm not saying that I won't play and enjoy the new holes (except for maybe #9- this just looks stupid) but man, the original long tee layout is classic.  Why change a classic?

Rob said it wasn't Championship caliber anymore. I still think  he is wrong. The front may have easy 2's but the back is very difficult.

9 is a very head scratching hole Dana. It's like what do I even throw. I have 4'd it once. along with two 5's. Wilbur did say he needed to decide on this tee for the tourny. It may be played from the white tee??

just got back from playing these with Brett for the 1st time. Thanks again Brett, for thinking of me when you were in town. Always a great feeling when a top pro asks to play a round on my home course.
I'm free anytime you are back in this area.

Had a blast out there today Doug. I really like some of the changes to the long tees. The cement tees are sweet!
