Dan said it best regarding OB issue- lose/lose situation. As far as rest of event on sunday, I thought it was super freakin awesome. What a great tourney and course (except baskets lol). Free lunch, free beer, cheap second helpings, great disc selection and player packs. What more can you ask for. Just like the I.O.S. events, this tourney was very impressive and very fun. Great job to everyone involved. I drove over 2 hours with 3 others and we'll be back next year for sure.

So what's the official ruling?

Follow only what's listed on the score card in terms of OB?

or

General consensus from peers and other players during the tournament?

In this case it looks like it was covered in the player's meeting. So, the answer would be "C, None of the above".  ;)

Any time there is a reasonable dispute regarding o.b., if you are the thrower you should play it both ways and ask the TD.  I've seen this happen: the group unanimously agrees on a ruling; then after the round some weasel in the group decides to make an issue of it with the TD.  If the TD decides you played it wrong, since you never played it right, you can get a two-throw penalty for the misplay.  The provisional is insurance against weasels.

sometimes the weasel isn't even someone that played on the same card- they'll hear about it during the lunch break and complain to the td.

bah. weasels.

A weasel is someone on your card that rules one way on your card during the round and then tries to gain strokes on you by changing his mind. Someone from a different card not originally involved is probably just trying to ensure everyone is playing by the same rules.

I agree with Krupicka's definition of weasel, but we really should let Barish weigh in, since he has a professional ability to sort snakes from weasels.

In this context, the snake planned on bringing it up later when he went along with the group ruling, whereas the weasel did it more or less without forethought.

I always like to watch those videos for the illegal leaping putts.  Hutter had two questionable ones that you couldn't overrule on instant replay.  But check out Bennet at 2:10.

Really enjoyed the tourney last week. First time playing the course, which I found very challenging, yet in a way that I can't wait to come back and play it again! Very cool course! Now one of my favorites in Illinois (along with Channahan course). Joliet has got it going...one little thing I didn't like was rule about being across road or creek not being OB  ??? Nonetheless, looking forward to being back to play in Joliet soon.

I couldn't get it to stop on the frame that would decide.

I don't think you really need to stop it. He is clearly airborne before the release.

To feldberg's credit, once he understood that the flying putt was illegal inside or outside the circle, he changed his putting style to make his jump putt legal.

If they produce an Am Worlds video, it will be fun to watch that.  Wiggins looked illegal every time he putted from outside the circle.

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??
