cool to see a new course go in, pay to play it looks like.  Great googily moogily, hole #4 better be well worth - especially if playing the short tee because that's quite the walk from 4 to 5!  The walk from 6 to 7 doesn't look appetizing either.  I like that it has 2 sets of tees though, and the map calls everything as par 3, so it sounds like someone that is at least familiar with tournament disc golf was involved.  That's promising at least :)

I haven't looked at the course review page yet, but Galena has some awesome land and tons of elevation, this could be a sweet course or at least pave the way to getting a sweet course there!

My husband and I were in Galena this past weekend and checked the course out.  Having learned to ski at chestnut, I really wanted to play it and see what it was like without snow!  I was not disappointed.  Good elevation changes, some nice pin placements, moderately wooded, and some beautiful views.  Course was well marked and baskets in good condition.  There were two other guys playing, about 5 holes ahead of us, but that was it.  Hopefully, this course will help spread the game to this area.   The short tees were SHORT but long tees alright.  Nothing super long.  As an average player and as a female who relies on my approach game and accuracy because I'm not very strong and can only drive about 175'', I liked the distance.  However, I can see some of you big throwers wanting some longer holes.    My only main gripe is a couple long walks between holes, which I didn't personally mind, but I can see many people not liking it.  Tee pads were small too.  It was $3 to play, which we gladly paid.  We took pictures and they are posted on dgcoursereview  That same day we played Veterans Memorial Park in East Dubuque, Iowa, a 4 disc rated course on dgcoursereview.  Tough, heavily wooded and very hilly course but it made a nice day of disc golf and was only about 20 min. from Galena.  Also nearby was another 4 disc rated course in platteville Wisconsin, but it was raining on Sunday, so we didn't get a chance to check it out.  I'm curious if there are any other good courses in the area for future visits.  I look forward to out next trip back to Galena and highly suggest this course.

I live in Dubuque and have played the Vets Memorial Park course often.  One correction, the park is on the Northeast side of
Dubuque, IA not East Dubuque, IL.  Anyway.... the course in Platteville in on the University of Platteville campus.  The other course in Platteville is short and fairly open - ok to play, nice.
There really aren't any other courses in the area.  The next nearest course of challenge or beauty is the course in Dewitt, IA  It is more like the course in Dubuque.  Also some great courses in Madison, Wi and Quad City area one hour South of Dubuque.
Take care,
