Every once in a while I want to create a table in a post and can never remember exactly how to do it. I'm just playing around with them here and once I figure it out I might make this a sticky some where so that I can easily reference it.

I used the attached Excel template to do the above table. Using the template makes it easier to cut and paste from another document. If you look at the excel template you see columns with the word "text" in them. Entries go in these columns. You can easily add more columns by cutting and pasting the "table-tr-td" cells into new columns. Make sure your rows in excel always end with the "/tr" entry. Add more rows by copying an entire row into a new row. Make sure everything ends with the "/table" entry. Then when you are ready to post just select all the cells from "{table}" to "{/table}" and copy. Then paste into your post where you want the table.

There's no reason why you need to paste from excel into a forum post but to me being able to layout the table in something that looks like a table already (excel) makes it much easier to post a table that will actually look like what I want. Feel free to download and use the attached excel doc for all of your smf table posting needs.

There's a sample tab in the excel template that I used to make the "jelani/myron stat table" in case you learn by example better than instructions.
