Can't wait! This event seems like it will be a blast.

How many total entrants are allowed? I just want to make sure there will be a spot left for me and my partner. I haven't played in a tournament since 2005 and got off work for this one. Any way to reserve a spot just to be safe? If so that would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry, I've been away.  I'm keeping pre-reg on page 1 somewhere, now that we are on page 2.  Also on pdga.com.

I'd like to fill the tournament to 4somes on 21 holes, if my course routing gave me 21 holes.  It is a big course that could accomodate a couple of floater groups so I might take pre-reg to 4somes on 23 or 24 holes, and if there are cancellations, not refill the spots.  Cashless pre-reg can be kind of soft.

Also, don't worry about your middle initials.  That's just so I can keep the teams together when they are displayed on PDGA.com.  Nifty trick if you ever run doubles.  Jon had a better idea, call Damon Short "Damon ShortJacobs" and Jake Jacobs "Jake ShortJacobs" and that would keep the teams together better.  I may switch to that at Z or I may go with AA and BB.

Brett, if you wanted to team with your dad, that would be interesting!

...although it might imply a closer relationship between Jake and myself than was ever intended....

I think it is cool that four out of four teams signed up are teams that might not play together at traditional PDGA divisional doubles because one partner would have to play up.  You do not have to be that kind of team to enjoy this format.  Because it is all best shot, a balanced team with complimentary skills will never be at a disadvantage.

Just a quick question. Hole 12-13 says "Count all your throws," what excatly does that mean? If we both drive, both approach, both putt, is that 6 throws, or 3?

Bruce Brakel

Sorry.  Maybe I should take that out.  It is best shot.  I was just joking about the fact that there may be some big scores on that hole.

No problem Bruce. I just wanted to make sure that we weren't playing some special rules for that particular hole. Thanks for the quick response.

Mike Krupicka, by the way, is on board as a tournament volunteer.  Jon is too, providing Madisen's schedule does not change.  Diana will be the Hula Hoop Czarina, of course.  Kelsey will be volunteering and looking for a partner, schedule permitting.  She might have a partner, but they have not announced so I cannot say.

Newsy bits.

I made some changes to the tournament information, just to clarify that your entry fees are going 100% to the cash CTPs.  The course use fee, PDGA sanctioning and insurance, and $2 PDGA player fees have been covered by cash sales of discs at the CCR Flymart.  Many thanks to CCR for holding the Flymart and to the players who bought so many discs.

I'm hard at work making quarter-toss basket trophies.  Kiralyn is helping by poly-coating the wood bases.  There will be ten trophy baskets: for the winners of Open and Advanced, on the PDGA side of the tournament, and for the winners of Gold, Silver, Copper and Lead, in the four flight side games.  The cost of the trophies has been covered by Kelsey, who gave me lots of trophy making materials for Christmas in 2009, or by me, depending on how you look at that.

I started a tournament page on Disc Golf Scene and changed my signature on PDGA.com to help promote the tournament.  I used the "Illinois Open Series Club" as the host club on Disc Golf Scene, but this is not an Illinois Open Series tournament.  The Illinois Open and Illinois Open Series are tradenames owned by Jon, and my use of either was purely unlawful infringement for which I hope he will forgive me.   8)

Sean Ryan, the PDGA shows you as not current, so you'll have to renew or come up with the $10.  It might be that if you renew in September, you're good for 2012.  Check with the PDGA office.
