Series Points

This series is set up for fun and competition. Overall champions win a trophy and bragging rights. If you play any day of the Illinois Open Series you are automatically entered into the series. It costs no extra fee to enter the series. There will be no deductions from tournament payouts to pay for overall series champion trophies.

Points only count in the division in which they are earned. For example, if Bruce plays Advanced at the first event and receives 12 points then plays advanced masters at the next event and earns 12 points, he does not have a total of 24 points. He would have 12 points in advanced and 12 points in advanced masters.

Participants will be awarded one point for each tournament entered and one point for each player they beat in their division.

A player who DNFs (Does Not Finish), will receive 0 (zero) points for that tournament.

Overall points will be calculated from best 4 of 5 events. Players must play in a minimum of three events to be considered competing for series points.

Although loving the extra points, I do feel obligated to inform you that I think you have made an error in the results for IOS # 3 Rec. division.  It looks like you just switched the scores for Matt Buttliere and myself.  I was the one that took 11th, Matt took 6th.  Just want things to be right, dont want anything to be off.  If you could take a look at it, I'm sure you'll see it.  Thanks!

The results on the PDGA tournament page will need to be corrected before I can update the series points.  Jon/Mike, could you check the Rec unofficial results for IOS #3?

Maybe I can after Worlds. I really don't know. I haven't been able to get onto the pdga tournament admin site this week just to correct two pdga numbers. I will correct the TD report though and resubmit it to the pdga.

I'm changing the official TD report and resubmitting. I'll bcc you on the e-mail Mike. Don't know if I'll ever be able to upload it so it might not get fixed until the official results go up.

TD report corrected and sent to PDGA.

A player must play in three events, or is it a player must play in three events in the same division to be consisered competing for series points?

Looks like same division to me.
Looks can be deceiving.

I interpreted that the three events must be in the same division.  Mike/Jon, please let us know which it is.

I meant it to be that you played  three times in a single division to be considered playing the series. I'll clarify the wording on the FAQ.

I was just thinking it would maybe give extra incentive to play all of them. It's all good. Thanks Tyler and Mike.

There are a couple divisions where ties could happen for the series points. It has been the policy for a number of years that these ties are broken by sudden death playoff at the last event of the year (i.e. @ Round Lake).

Here are a couple of the really close series races:
Advanced Masters: between Blaine Schepp and Eric Johns
Advanced Grand Masters: Jake Jacobs and Randy Moore Sr are tied going into the final event.
Advanced Sr Grand Masters: Frank Grimes and John Cleaveland are only one point apart.
Advanced Women: Stacy Tackett and Becky Brakel are also separated by only one point.

While Randy Moore Sr has a sizable lead that will be tough for Matt Cook or Jesse Tackett to overcome in Intermediate, the other four large divisions are wide open with a number of players in the hunt.
