Hey guys I want to give you the heads up on what's going on at Anna Page.  I'm sure a lot of you are aware that we have made some improvements on the East side.  Hole 2 is no longer the big hyzer around the pines.  There is a new tee pad up the hill to the left of hole ones basket.  It has a cement tee and is a great tight line trough the woods.    This hole is a great shot now!  Now it's an actual throw.  I would say this hole is 100% better now.  Hole 8 on the east side now has a C location.  The C is now behind the A location and it's another 80 feet longer.  It now takes an easier duece hole and makes it a hard duece hole.  You can still get a two but with these changes it makes it a harder two and a rewarding one.  Hole 14 on east side now has a C location as well.  This is a great hole!  One of the best on the east.    This is also behind the A location up in the woods and adds about 100 feet.  You shoot up the tunnel to the right of the teepad past the A loction into some thick woods.  This is a very hard 2 to get.  Most people end of with a three but if you hit early in the tunnel you could end of with a 5 or 6.  That all has been done this year.  We are in the process of ordering new baskets for the front nine on the east side.  I'm sure you're of the ones there now.  The old mach twos.  Trust me I'm just as sick of these as the next guy.  We are replacing these old things with nice new mach 5s.  I can't wait.  As long as the baskets are in stock it shouldn't long before they are in.  Finally for the big news!!!  We have been approved for a third course out here!  It's going to be an awesome course.  Today I walked through some of the holes with Todd Ebens, Duster and Mike S.  I'm sure if you ask Mike he will tell you how awesome it's going to be.  There is going to be a mix of lefty holes righty holes open and wooded.  I'm hoping it ends up being a par 60 plus.  The are going to be some long holes that are par 4s and some short ones.  One holes looks to be about 400 feet but will be a par 4 because of the shape of it.  We are looking to at least have one elevated basket but I'm thinking we will have two.  There will be some tough wooded shots on this course.  The open holes will still have woods come into play and not be easy.  There will probably be no "easy" two on this course.  We are really hoping to makes this third course by far the best of the three and the best in northern Illinois.  We will be looking to have Anna Page as one of the places that people want to drive too to play.  Maybe even have it as a national tour stop.  Hopefully have bigger tournaments in the future for sure at least A tiers.  I'm hoping this course will be playable next spring/early summer.  We are going to wait until fall and winder to carve the holes in the woods.  Right now it's just too thick in there to see what we want to have the hole as and cut.  It will be much easier when the leaves drop.  We are all really excited to get this going!  If you have played in recent tournaments out at Anna Page you would of played what hole one is.  It's the alternate hole through the pines across from hole 18 on the east side.  We will make it a little longer but hole one will give you a taste of what the course is going to be like.  We have the GRABM classic on August 5th and if some of you want to check out some of the holes either me or I'm sure someone else would be glad to show you.  We are working at making both the east and west courses better by making improvments to those.  In another year this park is going to go from good to great!  That's all I have right now.  Thanks and I will keep you updated with anything else.

Wow.  This was a great course when it was just one course. It was a great complex when the west course was built. The temporary C course that Brett used for the A tier was challenging and fun.  I cannot wait to play three permanent courses at Anna Page.  If just some of that mojo from Anna Page to the northwest and Lemon Lake to the south could bleed back to Chicago life would be good.  Fortunately, I get to Rockford often.   :blob6:

Last Wednesday we installed new mach 5's on the frond nine of the East course.  I'm sure you all remember the old antique mach 2's.  We have put the old mach 2's on select holes throughout the course.  There are now 9 holes on the East course the have two baskets.  The bad news is during Sunday leagues we noticed the one of the new baskets(hole 8) had been vandalized.  So someone decided it would be a good idea to go out and break the lock completely off the locking tab and bent the locking tab. It's unfortunate the it happend and happened so quickly.  A police report was made to the Rockford Park District Police.  It is now of record that it happened and that it has happened before.  If you come play Anna Page please keep an eye out for anyone vandalizing the course.  I'm going to post a note out the the kiosk about what has happened, give the police department number and post a copy of the police report.  Hopefully this keeps people from being idiots.

The next step is we are going to replace teesigns on each course. A club member is making direction arrows to help assist people to the next tee on some of the "confusing" holes.  Also we have the approval for the third course and we are just waiting for the woods to thin out so we can make the final layout and start making fairways.  Hopefully by next summer there will be THREE 18 holes courses at Anna Page!

Thanks for another update! New baskets on the east course sound awesome! I know Brett likes to paint a bar in the bin of the basket that points to the direction of the next tee - that's a pretty cost effective way to mark the direction of the next tee without installing anything in the ground. Just look for which bar of the bin is painted, and follow in that direction.

This Sunday at 1p.m. we are going to do a walk through of the third course.  We are going to get our final layout we want as a club.  All we have to do after that is get final approval from the PD and then we can start making holes!  If anyone has interest in coming out we always have skins at 8 and doubles at 10.  If you don't want to play just get there by 1 so you can see the proposed course.
