What do people think of this new Prodigy Disc company? 

It'll be interesting to see how it goes.  I think it'll be awfully tough to seriously compete with Innova and Discraft.  I'm not sure how much of an improvement in disc technology they could possibly bring.  I think all the disc manufacturers pretty much bring the same thing to the table as far as disc performance, so it just comes down to marketing and price.

I would assume these team members may be taking a short-term loss in giving up their Innova/Discraft sponsorships in the hopes of a big long-term gain if Prodigy gets huge.  From the Facebook postings it sounds like they must be getting a stake in the company.  They haven't sold a disc yet though, so I'm not sure how they would afford to give these players the same sponsorship deals they received in 2012.

The marketing hype with all the top players will certainly appeal to a lot of competitive tournament golfers.  I'm not sure how much disc sales actually come from tournament golfers, so it'll be interesting to see how that strategy works out.  Who's looking forward to trying out the D1 in 2013?

I will give them 5 years tops!! they are paying each team member, $10,000 a year, times 8 players= $80,000 a year? thats crazy!!!

people that have tested the prototypes, say they added 50-70 feet off the teepad?? to me that would just mean the courses will get longer and harder.

I remember hearing the same claims about the Quarter K.

The quarter k was what they claimed. It was a long disc. the problem was it was so fragile it was useless after it came within 15 feet of a tree. It would chip just in fear of the tree. It didn't have to actually hit the tree.

to me, I honestly just believe they TRIED getting the best players on the team, to make their discs look like it's the difference. McBeth, Feldberg, and AJ will still compete with Innova, and the remaining Discraft players will do the same. Imagine Will without his Roc after their full line is out and can no longer use a mixed bag. Sure, like discraft did with the Buzzz and LAT64 with the Pain(love that disc   ) Prodigy will come out with a Roc type disc, but still wont be a Roc! there goes some of his mental game, although just a tiny fraction, still something Playing with his mind!  The caliber of guys & gals they got could win with Mauraders, and Scorpions, while putting with Polecats, cause yes, they are that good.
But to think this will better the sport, for all players, is absurd!! It will benefit those Prodigy players, but will it really add to any purses?? Prodigy team members get X amount per month, then a % of disc sales, so yeah their sport just got better. But what about the AM for life players? Other than trying new discs, what are they really going to get out of this?? To say the big change will change the entire sport as we know it, again, just stupid.
Sure we all have our own opinions, may or may not agree with others, but this is how I feel. NT players may benefit, but that is not the entire disc golf world. To grow this sport starts with the kids and Amateur players, not the top 15 in money earned last year.
