From what I saw at the course this weekend there will be a lot of people playing this weekend. I think there's a contingent of Wisconsin players coming down for the IOS #1, Streamwood Starter. There really aren't any other tournaments going on anywhere near here and with the weather expected to be sunny and upper 70's, I'd say we should have a really good turn out.

i think there is going to be an excellent turnout for all of these illinois open series events.  i have heard a number of out-of-town players at other events (elver, parkside, peoria) say that they were coming.  i would show up early at streamwood just to be sure i got in the field (which is why i sent in my pre-reg today).  it should be fun and i know it will be well run  :)

I'll be there both days :D .

I've tried my best to pub this event. I don't think anyone in this area comes close to our advertising for an event.

i want to pay i have not pre pay yet do u think i mite not get in? my friends wants to play we get in?

Not speaking for the TD, but if you haven't preregistered and desire to play then you should get to the course well before registration opens.

Jon & Brett - Fairfield's field was full what, 45 minutes after registration was opened last year? And there wasn't nearly the amount of publicity as this years' series has had...

I would say get there early. Pretty much anyone who gets there early enough to help move picnic tables is assured of a spot.  :D

But seriously, we only have a handful of pre-regs and we are doing this split day where the IO last year was only 1 day, so I'd think you will get a spot if you are there early. I wouldn't show up at 9:15 and expect to get in as we may still fill.

Bruce, Brett and I will be at the course Friday afternoon/evening for clean-up and marking tees. Anyone who shows up to help with either may pre-register at that time.

what should i play rec or inter? i  dont know?

CEValkyrie

Eddie,
I think you should play intermediate. You aree well above rec level. Also, bring all your friends. You will get in. I've been suggesting to show up around 8:30AM to register.

god im so pissed right now.. i went out to steamwood to play... played 10 holes and ya the course is in bad con. they put wood chips down on tee pads wow like 2 feet of them... there is water all over the place... i was on hole 10 and my knee gave out i fell now im think i fucked up knee up again which is the same knee i had sugery on for my acl like a year ago sucks so much i dont know what i am goin to do so no tourament and no disc golf for a long time and if i have sugery i will prolly lose my job god sucks

Sorry about your knee, that sucks. With the down pour that we had on Monday the tee pads would have been mud pits if they hadn't put the wood chips down. I think the wood chips are a vast improvement over mud pits.

The course is a bit squishy in places after the storm that dumped some rain on Monday. I'm hopeful that we will have a couple of rain-free days before this weekend and everything can dry out. The path from 10 to 11 is still quite passable. My only real concern is getting to the basket area of #8. That normally small creek is a bit of a mess right now, but I just talked to Elmo and he has some huge pieces of plywood that he's going to lay down across there to make it passable.

Considering all the rain we've had in the last few weeks the course is still very playable, and with the addition of the wood chips the tees aren't muddy anymore. Elmo's help has been invaluable.

i went out there and played today and thought the course was not in horrible condition.  the wood chip tee pads work fine except for 2 of them which are very muddy underneath the chips causing u to slide.  there is some standing water around a couple holes, but nothing that really bothered me too much.  u do have to walk thru water to get to hole 12 which isn't that much fun.

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

Mangler

Eddie: can understand your anguish. Don't blame God, blame gravity. Plus I think you had over 19 Grammatical errors on that last post. Can't blame God on that. This might be a record so be proud and stand up (slowly). If you where on "Vike Dose" while posting keep up the good work.  My Suggestion, start a new string and post away. It makes for great reading.

It's not an attempt to be different when everyone else is becoming more alike; it's a way of copping out. And that's the worst thing you can do."
