If we also purchase some of the other discs that are available does that money also go to the charity? If it does, I'll buy a few.

SERG

It's my understanding that the profit on the individual discs go the club. I will double check with the director and find out.

Just want to be clear that if I want to order one each of those full-color Rocs for myself, I need to give you the money today or tomorrow for them, correct?

Thanks!
Steve

QuoteSorry for the thread drift, but:

Bruce, what was the layout of the Charity Event you played? Do you know approximately how many players showed up?
No thread drift if I quote you and answer you over here!   :)

My understanding of the format was that if you paid a certain price you got the player pack, and then you could play as many rounds as you wanted to within the 24 hour period, eat Terry's food, sleep in his yard, and sit on his chair.  The player packs did not show up in time but some candy glow TLs did.  For giving up every penny in my pocket I qualified for a player pack to be delivered later, I think, in which case I'll probably give Lance some more money.  I hope he's not spending it on bicycles!

Diana and I were having a very stressful transportation emergency involving much yelling and tears on the first day [She and I were yelling at various times.  The mechanic and I were crying at other times!  :D ]  so I did not get down there until the last hour of the second day.

I played a round with Terry, Tom and the other guy who was older than college age and then Terry cooked me some food.  The style of the event very much reflected Terry's personal style: laid back, accomodating and not tightly or rigidly structured.  Which works when you are just inviting some friends over for backyard disc golf.

Let us hope that the whores of evil no longer loiter on the doorsteps of your path beckoning you into the brothel of despair, and that here and after may present them with the most rigid manistfestation of a firm and manly will.

Thanks for the update information Shawn/Craig.

Also, if anyone would like to help make the event a success, charitable contributions are greatly appreciated. All monetary contributions will go directly to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Other donations/prizes will be used the day of the event as prizes/awards/player pack items. If you are interested in providing a monetary or prize donation, please email/PM or post here.

My goal is to try and offer some type of prize for all who attend.

Anyon have any suggestions on getting more sponsors/donators? All feedback is greatly appreciated.

If you are not going to Worlds in Iowa and are looking to have a fun day at the Parkside course, please come and play. If you have not purchased a Marathon player's package, we will be asking for a $5 donation to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

We have permission to grill lunch/dinner in the parking lot and to stay on the course as long as we like. Any troopers who want to play "24 Hours" are more than welcome.

Let me know if you have any questions.

  Will anyone have extra glo-sticks to sell for the glo-round?  I don't have any.   :(

Wish I had thought of this earlier, but it would have been a good idea to pick up a case of glo-sticks for the charity event, then sell them at a slight profit, and then split the profit between a donation to the LAF and the rest back to the club.  Of course, someone may already have thought of this, in which case, never mind.

Anyway, hope someone has some extra to sell.  I have a friend who is playing in the event and would like to play the glo-round, but he also is lacking any.

Thanks!
Steve

Head to your nearest fishing supply store & pick some up! I hear Walmart has the LED ones for ~$4/ea.

Serg - I need to get a hold of you. I've got a donation for the event.
Don't forget your towel!

Don't worry, Steve...we thought about it!

I will have some available. Also, we have 6" sticks that will be hanging from most of the baskets. Some of them don't really need them. Dave Light also has some magnetic LED's that will be on the baskets.

During glow rounds we've been using Tap Lights to put on top of the basket when we're putting. If anyone who is coming to play has a tap light, please bring it. We'll have about 4 or 5 but it would be nice if every group could have one. 4 should be enough, but just in case.

If you're coming out later in the day and plan on staying until glow, we do have permission to have grills in the parking lot to cook food.

Any questions please email/PM or post.

The one's for bobbers are $2.50  :D

Red ones are the best and brightest, although green does look cool. Things get really goofy when there are one of each color on the same disc...right Dr. Dye ;)

Don't know how I missed this before, but:

Prizes will be awarded for the top player turnouts and the top individual fundraisers across the country. Here are the details of the prizes:

Top 5 Courses Total Donations - wins 50 Innova Candy Fundraising discs each

Top 5 Individual Player Fundraisers - wins an Innova DISCatcher Portable each

We might be able to push for the Top Course Total Donations. We have about 2 weeks after the event to continue to get individual donations. If you need a donation tally form you can download from the website or pick one up from me at the event. I'll make sure you're a part of those 50 Candy Fundraiser Discs if you help make it happen!

16 hours.  100 holes.  Never done that before.  I dare say, I'll never do it again, either.  Parts of me I forgot I had still hurt.

But it was fun, I think everyone had a good time, and lots of money was raised for a good cause.  All in all, a good event.  Thanks Serg!

(I'll get the donations to you by Friday for sure, earlier if I can).

I was just looking on the PDGA Discussion and it mentioned that an Alabama location raised $3400!

Thank you DISContinuum for your support. We had 6 members in attendance: Shawn, Steve, Kyle, Doc Dye, Sergio, Mirth

Reminder to those who have donations to mail them to me ASAP. I'd like to mail everything in this week. If you need my address, email or PM and I'll send it.

I'll post an update later tonight with some of the details of the day. Thanks to those who attended. I couldn't do much yesterday. I didn't play 100 holes, but it sure felt like it.

Total Donations: $2140

Thanks to everyone who showed their support and made contributions. I completed a "summary" of events that I'll list later. Too much work for me right now.

A special thank you to Steve and Kyle...your efforts really helped put us over that $2000 mark.

Steve Cohn had raised $605...he couldn't have been very far from being the top 5 individuals.

Thanks to all who supported the event. For those of you who were there, you remember I told you if we get that top 5 you'll get a disc....I lied 8)
