Mid Morning Round in Mundelien....a couple of surprises.

Park District reduced distances of #3 and #5 each.
#3 might be the shortest hole Ive ever seen.

Second surprise was that Mundelein High School has adopted the course. A large student base was playing in threesomes and foursomes having a great time. Of Course supervised by a PE Teacher.  Great Exposure for the game !

Mangler keeps a little pressure on for redesign work that includes.

1 stays
2 stays
new 3
new 4
new 5 (water)
new 6
new 7
new 8
longer 9 or alternate tee pad use #3

All interior baskets will be gone (ie 4,5,6,8) disapear.

Has this course been pulled? Can someone who lives close or drives by confirm? Got this e-mail today.

Jon,

Can you confirm for me that the Leo Leathers listing should be deleted
from the PDGA Course Directory?  I notice that it does not seem to be
listed on the discontiuum site.  (There is a course in Park Forest on
that site that we don't list also?)

Joe X could not locate it.  Are the directions correct?

Someone e-mailed Cliff telling him that he couldn't find the course and that it should be removed from the directory because it isn't there. Just wanted to confirm it's existence. Thanks!

Ew, ew, and more ew.

The course took forever to find. The park district map was misleading. I arrived to see a group of foul mouthed youths endind their game within ear-range of the playground. Not the courses fault, but it didn't sit well. All the sign posts for the holes were vandalised to some degree and nine was missing altogether. The whole course bored me. The first three holes and the last one weren't too bad, but everything in  between could use some obstacles or something. The dirt tees and "greens" made everything dirty on a hot dry day. I met a couple of really nice guys right before the nine, but it didn't make up for the course. I'd need to be dragged back.

I think there's a possibility that the course might be pulled entirely.  I honestly wouldn't miss it because of all the crossing fairways too.

There's a very vocal minority of disc golfers that talk like that no matter where they are or who is around them. There was one guy yesterday around the leader board and the coversation went something like "Dude, I F-ing parked that F-ing hole down there by the F-ing trees..." This "conversation" went on like this for at least 5 minutes. All the while Maddisen is standing about 3 feet away from him putting up scores on the leader board. Nice...and classy!

;DI got my first duece on this course today!

So, considering this course's rating, does that count?

The children I watch were looking for something to do during their sister's soccer (Football) camp and we ended up at the playground. When an eight and six year old think the course is boring and confusing, it's time to do some work.

a deuce is still a deuce, so good job :)  Now it will be time to start working on hitting some of those drives so that the particular hole is a deuce all the time, and if the drive isn't perfect, get those putts working for you so that you can hit from a little bit further out.  Sometimes a well-placed 3 is always just as nice, but at Mundelein you definitely want to hit as many deuces as you can!

Keep up the good work :)

How is this course I know its not great but is it at least worth trying. For example, does anyone think it's better than Warren or Adler.

Not even close. Like Justin said, don't even bother.

Since the course is near my dad's house, I went with my friend.  It's a very small course with barely any challenges.  It caters to midrange and putters throws but its not TOO bad.  If you live near it and just want to get in 18 holes in 30 minutes before work or school, its worth it.  They might never have a tournament there but I don't think it was designed with that thought.  Personally I think its an excellent  place for  people who are having troubles putting and want to practice their short game.

Updating my thoughts about this park for new players..

For someone who has played a few years or for someone who can already throw a ton, then yes this park will suck.   However, what I've gained from playing here is being more relaxed while throwing mid-range shots and putting. I was constantly having trouble keeping my rocs straight and having a wobble with my putts so one day I kept my drivers at home and just use my mid-range.  Most of the holes are rather short but if you have a problem with control and accuracy, this course will help solve the problem.
