They finally made a date for the Homie this year.  It will be 10-8. I just received the following e-mail from Bart:

If anyone in the Downers Grove area is thinking about going to any of these, I'd be down to carpool. Not so sure about Oly on 9/3, but the others are on my schedule.

Would anyone in the north burbs like to ride with me to Olympia Fields on 9/3.
There is no league at Bevier and I thought I might go there.
I bailed on the spring event there due to pouring rain and this is kind of a fun course.

The Homie is one of my favorite events each year. You will want to make the trip.

Do they have any email or online way of registration?  I'd rather go that route over phone calls.  I'd like to help represent the rec division at this tournament :)

Anyone interested in heading out to Lemon Lake on Saturday to play the course, and camping out that night before the tournament?

Here's the flyer in a little more screen friendly size. If you want to print it, use Brett's version.

I emailed Bart about the tournament, and here was the response I received about registration:

Brian Cummings is taking pre-regs and can be reached at 219-836-8240. The course is still being planned and I will send out a mass e-mail when it is decided but I can give you this: we will take the existing 27 holes and turn them into 2 18 or 21 hole courses. We have a team in charge of this every year and they are finalizing the layout. We usually have short tees for the lower divisions on some of the long /difficult holes...again this is still being planned but is SOP for this tourny.

I'm not sure if I want to know what SOP stands for, but anyway, I guess if you want to be on his email distribution, you can contact him at bart@channelzdj.comĀ  Or you can just wait for me to post as he added me to his distribution list.

And fyi, the link to the tournament website on pdga.com is incorrect... it is supposed to point to www.channelzdj.com instead of just channelz.com

This is a must play. I don't think too many people preregister for this tournament and it can hold well over 200 players. I think there has been in the 150 to 160 range the past 3 years.

I see it says tee off is at 9:30. I know there was some talk about time changes and what no the past few years. Is Cedar Lake on Central time right now? Just making sure so i'm not late.

Good point!  From what I just looked up, Cedar Lake, IN is in Lake County, which is Central time AND follows Daylight Savings Time in that county.  So their time is the exact same as ours.  Man that would be terrible to show up and realize you're an hour late!

A buddy of mine & I mis-calculated last year & ended up getting to Valpo 2 hours before they were even taking registration. Lol!
At least he got a practice round in on that course, I put it on an even level with Lemon Lake.
