Super excited about this tourney.  Sounds like it should be a great time and some good golf.  Not sure yet about doubles but I will definitely be out there on Saturday practicing.

Jon I'm not sure if I'm headed out there on Saturday or not now. I guess a friend is coming into town around lunchtime so I may have plans there. Get in touch with me tomorrow or Saturday and we can maybe ride together that direction.

Course update from Bart...

...Although we have had a lot of rain in the past week, most of it fell north of Lemon Lake. I walked the course yesterday and although it is soggy in places it is VERY playable. Although I did change socks at the end of the day it was a result of my efforts to drain hole 27, not from walking the course. The forecast calls for more drying and no rain between now and Sunday. The recent rain did kill our efforts to install 6 more concrete teepads this week but the existing tees were swept yesterday and in excellent condition. Look for Lemon Lake to transform itself into 2 permament 18 hole courses over the coming winter. :toothy2:

Alright I got in about 14 holes today before we had to jet to see the Tigers win and the course looks like it's in great shape. This is coming from someone who has not played there before, but it all looked pretty good and there was a mowing crew out there mowing circles around the baskets as we left. Should be a good show tomorrow especially with the weather being so great!

I had a lot of fun at the Homie today.  Lost my dyed Champ Leopard to the lake... :( RIP.  Funny seeing 2 discs just laying on top of the water, makes me wish I had a 50' net that I could just bring those in and return them to their proper homes!

DISContinuum was VERY well represented.  I don't even know all of you guys, so I'm sure there was more there than I realize!  The only sad thing (for us rec players) is that a 13-year old kid won rec with a 7 over total for the day.  However, he's been playing disc golf since he was two he told me, and it's also his home course.  That's a BIG help.  I know that Mitch took 4th in Rec, Bruce took... 2nd? I think, in Am Master, and anybody else that placed can post here, I wasn't paying too close of attention at the award ceremony.  There was WAY too much talking going on in that room, and the guy really needed to use that microphone.

Players pack came with a t-shirt, a mini, and a birdie bag.  I must say, Mr. Brakel, you come up with a MUCH cooler offer for a player pack for people!  Go Discraft!

Yeah, and I lost by a stroke. I was 8 up. I got second in Rec. I had 2 duece putts on the last two holes an I miss them both. Oh well. I had a good time and in the end, thats all that really matters.

By any chance did you find my Dr. Dyed Viking? Sad to say some fish now has that disc in his bag.

Great weather and a very fun day. I liked the moment of loudness for Matt Lovasko. That was a nice way to start the day.

My wife is on to me. She thinks I really didn't leave at 6 am and return at 7 pm to play disc golf She says I must be having an affair. "Why?" I asked. "Well I never see any trophys." She replied. Obviously she hasn't seen me play.

Based on what i shot and how it felt shooting it, I think the rec winner will come in with 890ish kinds of rounds.  I beat him by twelve throws.  I felt like I had a 960 and a 910.  890ish is about right for winning in Rec.

I thought the tournament was pretty good.  The courses are good.  I scouted the payouts for a couple of divisions, and without counting the food the payouts were fine.  When you count the food, the tournament was pretty generous.  There were some glitches, but every tournament has some glitches.

I think of the food as being part of the player pack.  If you think of it that way, maybe the player pack was better than what we do.

Man I loved that tournament. I thought pretty much everything about it was top notch! The purpose of the tourney is to remember a friend and so I liked the t-shirt and mini because it does just that. Getting lunch and dinner is awesome! Not having to leave the tournament grounds speeds everything up in the end and it creates a better atmosphere I think.

As for the courses I was definitely impressed! I've never seen such detail put into alternate holes. Most of the time the holes are set up in appropriate positions, but just a flag here and a basket here and call it good. They mowed each fairway path, mowed around the green, made tee signs with lengths, put arrows to the next hole and pretty much made it feel like these weren't even alternate holes. Speed of play on everything was great two with the exception of the obvious giant risk/reward hole.

Payouts were great and the people were great. We didn't start on time, but I'd rather have a bigger field than start on time. The awards ceremony was a little crazy afterwards and the payout system was a little off because people were grabbing stuff even before they had their payout ticket. That was about the only downfall on the day I think. Bruce you were right though, this tourney has it all. I'll be there every year now. Nice to meet you also.

Did you happen to find an orange champ Firebird with a Local 101 disc golf club stamp?  That's my buddy's and if he got it back I know he'd be really grateful.

Had a great time & this is a definite must-play if you're in driving distance. My first round left something to be desired, but second round was good and I bought a disc from Dan & Schumann on the way home.

The PA really helps drown out the usual chattering during the players meetings.

Was kinda fun to have us all watching the Bears game at lunch and everyone getting all pumped. Great atmosphere.

As far as this goes, people usually do get stuff & have them hold it if they know they're prizing, just to avoid the bridal-dress-sale rush at the end.

Kiralyn thought the merch situation was a little crazy, too.  I didn't really notice because I gave Kiralyn my slip and told her to get all white Star, any molds any weights.  We donate all our winnings to the IOSeries merch, and just keep trophies, momento minis or maybe a disc if we lost one that day.

At our tournaments we close merch during awards.  While we are doing leaderboards you can put stuff on lay away, but once awards start, step away from the merch table!   8)

I'll keep this in mind for the future and not be so nice about leaving the discs I want up for grabs. I'm still pretty bitter about the ordeal. :)

Did someone find out how much they were charging for entry fees on this?  I thought it would be $18 + $2 ace fund for a rec player.  However, I get up there and I get charged $25.  I'm wondering if they charged me an extra $5 even though I was PDGA current?  It was such a mad fury for the registration that I didn't get a chance to really think twice about it.  It sounded like a little later I was hearing that the people that were taking registrations (there were 5 or 6) might have been charging different prices (and not realizing that it was the improper amount).  Maybe there was a $5 extra fee for not pre-registering?

I'm not upset about the extra $5, but I almost didn't have enough cash on me to take care of the various expenses on the day while I was out there!
