Have any of you played this course?  I've heard good things about it from random people on other courses.  Is it worth playing?

Hey Jason -

Yeash, I played it back in October or November. Busy course with some weird holes, but overall really nice.  Holes were shorter than expected, but challenging.  Good use of water hazards and elevation changes.  Good mix of holes.  Course is easy to find.

I played here on Sunday with Jason & 2 other friends. I think this is a fun course. Most of the holes are fairly long with a 700+ hole. Many open areas for long drives but it also has protected pins throughout the course. There is a creek that eats a few discs & cat tails that provide a big challenge. It is muddly like Round Lake in the rough. The only thing I did not like about the course is that is is not marked very well. If Jason hadn't played there before it would have taken us all day to figure out where we were going.

Where is it?

It's about 2-3 miles straight west of Schaumburg.

I finally got a chance to play this course yesterday.  It was packed with the great weather.  I really liked this course.  It is an 18 hole course with a great mix of holes.  Hole 12 is 700 feet.  There are lefty and righty holes in this course.  There are also several holes with doglegs, where you have to lay up before your second shot across the creek into the basket.  There are also a lot of cattails that I'm sure will make play interesting in the summer when they grow some more.  A couple baskets were on the side of a hill, which caused poor putts to simply roll down the side.  As you can imagine, there is little elevation, but the trees and creeks make for some interesting shots.  The only problem with this course is the lack of direction/signs/maps.  I don't know if I would have been able to follow the layout if I wasn't playing with someone who had played it before.

In case anyone is interested, this course has leagues on Tuesday nights at 6:00.  I haven't played in the leagues yet, but I saw about 20 people out there for leagues last night.  They also have an ace pool and a par 3 pool.  The par 3 pool is for anyone that can get a 3 on the gargantuan 720 foot number 12.

Damon, Jon, & I measured the holes today. We used a tape & wheel to measure. I think these are accurate measurements. Jon took some pictures of the course today. Hopefully we'll have them ready to get on the website in the next couple of weeks.

Jon & I were both there a couple of weeks ago; I'm not going out there again until it dries up, but as it happens I probably can't get out there until the week of the 1st IO anyhow... sure hope it's dry by then!!  :P
thanks,

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

kyle

Steve and I drove down to Streamwood today to check out the course.

Wow, it's completely flooded. We were able to play holes 1,2,3 and 5. Everything else was under a foot or more of water. The basket on hole 7 had water all the way up into the chains...

We ended up heading up to Buffalo Grove to see if anyone had showed up to play.

Thanks for reposting that, Kyle. Theres more rain headed our way tonight, I hope it doesn't make the situation worse.

We've had about 24 hours of rain Thursday-Friday. After the wetlands fill up the rest of the course fills up. It will probably completely drain in the next week to 10 days. I'll stop by there after work this week and see how its progressing. Pray for a dry spell for the next couple of weeks.

The 10-day forecast doesn't show any rain after tomorrow. The course should be fine. The wetlands that are wet for 10 months of the year will be wet, but the fairways should be dry.

I walked the Streamwood Shady Oaks course (IOS #1, the Streamwood Starter) today and measured the Pro final 4 safari holes. The course is LUSH, like most courses around here. There are no signs of the earlier flooding. I found a little surprise there from the parks people. All the tees and baskets have been newly chipped!! Elmo has been after them to get some chips down and he called them last week and reminded them that the tournament is just a week away.

The final Pro 4 safari holes will play as follows:

Tee 1 to basket 2: 469 feet
Tee 2 to basket 3: 343 feet
Hole 4 as is: 423 feet
Tee 6 to basket 15: 431 feet

There were a lot of players practicing for the event while I was there and the 7-day forecast looks pretty good for next weekend. See ya there!!!
