PLAYER PACKS WERE ORDERED TODAY.  I ordered 40 player packs, and I need to have people pre-register and claim most of those spots before I feel comfortable ordering more!  I know that we have a lot of verbal "I'll be there"s, but we stand at one-paid participant right now (and no, it's not me lol).

I have no idea when the player packs will arrive, but this should be a fun day!

Since we're trying to have about a 9:30AM tee off time, you should be done fairly early in the day!  I don't believe there is any break in between the rounds of 18, and it shouldn't be more than 1.5 hours per round.  I would expect to have everyone out of there probably between 1:30 and 2pm at the latest.  How long does it take to throw, go get your disc (out of the basket hopefully!), then walk to the next tee, repeat 35 more times?

Repost of Registration Info

For check/money order, fill out this form and send $20 registration fee to:

Scott Pitner

For online registration, you can pay through PayPal.  It is $22 for online payment to cover PayPal fees.  PayPal payments can be sent to scott@paperorplasticsports.com.  You can fill out this registration form and bring it with you to the tournament or just fill it out at the tournament.

2 nice discs, a hat, and a super color mini with a chance to win $300 worth of stuff, all for $20?  Sounds like a good day to me!

Has anybody played the Discraft "Take aim & throw for the chains" Ace race.  It is being held in Crystal Lake Aug 11 at Lippold Park.  I guess the format is just aim for the chains.  This sounds like fun considering i SUCK at putting.

http://www.discraft.com/events_acerace_07.html   for info....

(although i haven't come that close to getting any aces either)

I'm reviving this thread - even though I know a lot of people are at Worlds this week.

Registration is at TWO, so we definitely need more pre-registrations so that we know if we will need to order more players packs or not, thanks!

I hope everyone enjoyed Am Worlds!  Now it's time to turn your attention to something that won't be anywhere near as stressful on your body - the Discraft Ace Race!

It's $20.  You get 2 brand new never seen before discs, a hat, and a supercolor mini.  Sounds sweet to me!  The hat will even say Discraft Ace Race on the brim, very awesome.

You can find registration information in this thread.  The even should be over in the early afternoon, so you can stick around and play a regular round afterwards!

Registration Update: We are at 6 players.  There have been a lot of verbal "i'll be there's", but we don't have that many players packs!  If I run out, you can't play, simple as that!  We can handle up to 144 people on the day, but we only purchased 40 players packs.  It may be too late to order more, so please do pre-register to secure your players pack!  These discs are required to play, and they HAVE arrived.  If we get a flurry of registrations over the weekend I'll see what I can do about getting more players packs, but please do get in the registrations!  You can fill out the form the day of the event to make things easier.

A bargain for only $20, and you'll be done by the early afternoon!

I'm not sure if I can or not.  I can say that last year's disc was the ESP Meteor, so you can get an idea for the type of disc that you might receive.  The year before that I'm pretty sure was the Elite-X Slipstream-GT.

More importantly, the boxes are sitting at my mom's house and I haven't seen them yet myself, so I don't even know how it's packed, what is included in the $300 winner's prize, none of that stuff!  I'll find out more this weekend as well.

NEWS!!!!

Discraft has released information on the Ace Race Disc!

http://www.discraft.com/news_0707_ar.html

It's a long range driver in ESP plastic comparable to the Stratus or Storm.

NEW: Discraft is implementing a cross-hatching style technology on the rim of the disc.  This could be used for grips to add more control for certain styles of throwing, and I wouldn't be surprised if the cross-hatching aids the flight of the disc similar to the dimple technology on Quest and Gateway discs.

The discs are not named, but they look very sweet!

GRAND PRIZE:  The grand prize winner for this event will receive a Discraft bag full of 10 Elite-Z and ESP discs, a towel, super color mini, and possibly some other goodies.  It's a $300 value for the winner!

Reserve your spot today!

Good luck to all who attend. I wouldn't consider my stratus a long distance driver tho... :)

Nor would I consider the Meteor a favorite among amateurs and pros.

Tricky wording... long *range* not distance.  Discraft has 3 different levels of drivers - maximum distance driver, extra long range, and long range driver.  Then they have mid-range and putter.  It's probably comparible to Innova's speed 5 or speed 6 disc.

Whether you like or dislike the Meteor, that's not the point.  They just said it was a big hit.  I haven't thrown it yet to try it out.

No no I just thought the wording was a bit funny, like Mirth pointed out. I've only seen two people that actually had the meteor in the bag and I play at a fair amount of tournaments! I know it's just a sales message though, so it's no big deal!

I will be playing at a B tier in Michigan on Saturday so unfortunately I can not attend. I may be interested in buying the players pack though.

I have had a couple of requests to buy just the players pack, and I think right now we're looking at the situation where if there's any left after the tournament is over, then we'll still package them up and sell them.

I am possibly going to order 50 more players packs on Monday, hopefully it will be a worthwhile purchase :)

Andy

I am in!

Should I register on line before I come?

stpitner

It's up to you Andy, pre-registration is nice so that we know how many to expect, and then your overall registration process will hopefully go faster when you arrive at the event.  Plus it will guarantee that you will get a players pack.  All you would have to do is check-in on time (before 9 would be preferred).

Just a reminder - paypal payments (all major credit cards accepted) can be sent to scott@paperorplasticsports.com  Online registration is $22 to cover paypal fees.

There have been a lot of verbal "i'll be there's"

You can add 7 more "I'll be there's" to the list. The Esquivel clan will be there. Tim, too. And if you have any players packs left, you'll have another buyer.

That's fantastic!  Verbal and official registrations are coming in quick!  So quick in fact that we are quite possibly going to order another 50 player packs!  I received word from Discraft that we can order up until Wednesday and still have them in time for the Ace Race on Saturday.

Keep those registrations coming in so that we know for sure we will need those extra 50!

I was at the course yesterday, I EXTREMELY recommend bug spray!  I think I'm going to go out and bring some along to have available for sale in case you forget.  The mosquitoes were crazy in the wooded areas!

Discraft confirmed shipment of more players packs today!

We will now have 105 players packs available.

Some cool things:
there are more than one color of hats to choose from: so far I have khaki/gray, black, and burnt orange.  I'm not sure what will be in the new order.

Discs so far are all white and yellow, but there are multiple hot stamp colors - just make sure to bring a sharpie to write your name on the disc!

Last I talked to Eric he was talking to me about running a $5 side-bet as well at the event, so you'll have to be sure to talk to him about that on Saturday!
