Awesome course!  This is one of the best courses I've played yet.  It's 27 holes of discatcher baskets with inner chains.  I only played the first 19 due to a time commitment, but they were great.  This is one of the best kept courses I've seen.  They had mostly rubber tees, with a couple nicely laid brick teepads thrown in there.  At least every other hole had a bench there for a quick rest if needed.  There were also garbage cans at almost every tee.  This was a very clean course that I can tell somebody puts a lot of time into.  They make very good use of the elevation that they have.  There are a couple holes out in the open (including the first few), but most of the holes run through the trees.  There is also every kind of shot out there - righty, lefty, short, long, you name it.  They also had one of the hardest holes I've seen.  It's a 320? foot hole.  You tee off surrounded by trees (extremely tough to throw a tomahawk) with a 10 foot wide path going straight ahead.  However, this path ends in about 150 feet.  It then makes a 90 degree right turn for the remaining 170 feet to the hole.  It took me 1 hr 45 minutes to get home in Hoffman Estates from this course in NE Indiana.  The park charges a $2 parking fee.  This fee and the drive are definitely worth it as I plan on returning to this course in the future.

The Indiana State Championships are at this course August 2 and 3.  It is a great course.  There is quite a bit of poison ivy in the rough.  Light weight long pants are recommended for folks who are allergic.

Bart has a number of us on his mailing list.  Lemon Lake is now 18 X 2 and will soon be 18 X 3!   :) Today we received the following:

HI GANG,
I asked Santa for more holes at Lemon Lake and I got my wish. There are currently 2- 18 hole courses at Lemon Lake and by next summer we will have THREE Permanent-18 HOLE COURSES!!!!

A couple of the new holes are still rough but Mike Triumph is out there busting his ass so with a little help they should all be ready for play. Right now there is only one hole that we don't recommend playing even tho the basket and tee are in....if you get out there you will know it when you get to it.....

Look for the third course installation commencement  this Spring.....

I will try and post some pics on the website of the new holes when I can and will let ya'all know they are there...

Thanks for posting that Dave. I'm on the mailing list too, but somehow I didn't get that e-mail.

3 courses there is going to be da shizzle!

Quickest way there from Illinois?
I've usually taken 41 S but if I went East more to 65 would that be quicker even though I'm going past the park & then back? Thanks

Mitch

I take 94 to 394 south to route 30 east to 41 south.

derrr, don't know why I didn't think of that. Thanks Mitch. Avoids IN tolls too   >:D

My boss lives just north of Lemon Lake in St. John, and she told me the way she takes is 94 to 394 south to Steger Rd (just south of 30), south on sheffield, and then turn left onto 93rd.  93rd isn't marked very well at all (residential), but it's at least at a stop sign, and then turn right onto 41 south.  That's the way she takes to avoid rush hour, so since you're not going during rush hour, you may not need to take that route.

Other than first missing 93rd when I took that route, it went pretty fast when I went out for the Homie.

The route I'd take during rush hour would be Watkins Lake Rd to Saginaw Trail to a left on Hatchery all the way over to Williams Lake Road for a michigan left ... this probably isn't going to be helpful for too many of you, is it?   :D

I played here Saturday. Spuds is right about the holes on Blue, some of them are the same (in the open front area of the park) while the holes after the signature "lake hole" are completely different. Also, both courses start & end at the 1st pavillion on the left vs. at the top of the hill.

Also, they were in the process of painting the baskets, so playing Red course = Red baskets & Blue course = Blue baskets.

Going out here Saturday to get some practice with my bro for next weekend & take some pictures. Will get around to uploading them once I get finished uploading McNaughton, I been slacking  ;)

Too hot to take time for pics this weekend. Course looks to be in good shape for the Homie.

P.S. We stopped at Shoop's Hand-Made Hamburgers on the way back. OK, but nothing special.
