The weather forecast is better.  Less snow, less wind, warmer temps.  Trying to find out how much snow is on the ground currently...

I went to this one last year.  There are alot of tight, short holes in the woods.  Its a fun course.  Dress warm cuz its a long day standing around out there for 2 rounds of 24 with a pretty full course.

I can't wait to play this course in the warm weather for Worlds '08!

The course has been redesigned some for Worlds but a lot of it is the same.  They fixed the worst course routing conflicts and used a little more of the available land.  I won in Advanced in 2004.  I think I'll be playing Intermediate with Tom if I go this year.

omg i know that is an outrage.  They are lucky that im addicted to disc golf.  I looked at the entry fee and almost crapped my pants.  I had to drop 40bucks to get in, 3 bucks for doing it online, 5 bucks for ace, 5 bucks for ctp,  all that just to play int.  That is 53$ and i havent even left my house.  The pdga has to do something about am payouts, cause players are not going to be able to play many tourneys with the entry fees rising and getting discs in return.. I think an AM player should be able to take a Percent of there payout in cash..  We gotta eat, LOL

IM not gonna complain about the weather.  I already did enough complaining above, I will survive..

This discussion could easily go into a different thread instead of talking about the tournament, but I do want to respond.  Entry fee? terrible - the player pack with that kind of entry fee should be something like $25 worth of stuff and then some really nice payouts.  Will that happen? doubtful unfortunately.  However, in response to taking a percentage cash - I'd recommend one of two things: go Pro, or stay home.  The TD will learn quickly that if no one shows up with the prices at $40 and a ton of people show up when it's $25-$30 or something, then they should change things up.  Your other option would be to take the plastic that you win and sell it to someone else that does want it.

I won't defend a $40 entry fee for the intermediate division.  I don't agree with that unless there were some huge perks for the money.

With an honest TD, taking a percentage back as cash would just be a really rough day on the TD and on the vendor (should they be two different entities).  As a vendor I wouldn't want to give back some of the guaranteed cash that I was expecting to receive as part of making the time to come out and sell.

You said it all in one sentence as to what is holding disc golf back. You said "I'd recommend one of two things: go Pro, or stay home."  The way to get more people to play tourneys is to A. Lower the cost of tourneys or B. Add some more incentive to play and try out the new sport. IOS proved that with the trophy only system.  Many players get tired of paying 30-35 bucks to play just to add to there box of hundred discs at home. Im not cutting any tourney directors they do a good job and devote alot of time. But the way things are right now it will be hard for the sport to grow.

Really good tournament.  Fat player packs, good amateur payouts, really yummy chili (the mac and cheese was good too) and well run.  The tee pads were shoveled and salted.

The only thing they didn't get quite right was adequate course routing.  The course was recently redesigned for the better but not all the tees and baskets had correct numbers on them.

Kelsey had a 929 or something like that rated second round, but kind of sleep walked through the morning round.  I was wild all day long.  Coldbrook is not a good course to be wild on.  But, I retained the crown.

That is the most DNF's I can remember seeing for a 1 day event.  Props to everybody who nutted up and finished yesterday.  You all deserve an award for being really retarded.

that is correct, they made a division decision to play one round and then go to the brewery instead of playing the second round....

I wonder if the ice was as much a factor as the temp for the DNFs. After the Saturday players stomped down the wet snow all nice and flat and then it froze solid it must have been like playing on a glacier.

ice wasn't a factor.  the holes around the lake were brutally windy!  critter bill threw a shot and all of a sudden it was snowing and gusting really bad and his shot was missing.  i felt bad, it would had probably gone ob but we would have been able to find it.  on the other side of the course (all the short wooded holes) the wind and snow wasn't all that bad.

also- i thought there were a few more DNF's than listed..
Vibram Disc Golf, Ledgestone Insurance, Paragon and Whirld Sports are all cool. Real cool.

It wasn't that icey because it snowed about 4 inches over night and there were snow squalls during the round. Also the wind was blowing at a minimum of 30 mph the entire day. I worked outside everyday, all day for about 25 years and have never been that miserable due to weather. It didn't help that there is a good size lake on the northeast corner of the course and that is the direction from which the wind was blowing. There was one hole where you could barely see the pin because the snow was blowing so hard.

There were some groups where guys were on the course and they said fuck it and walked off. Other guys didn't let anyone know that they weren't coming back for the second round so there was quite a bit of manuvering between groups to make sure that everyone had at least three in a grouping.

I know of at least one person who played the first round and they aren't listed within the results. So I think that there are more DNFs than shown in the results.

This will be a fun course to play during worlds.

wow that sounds terrible.. Im glad i didnt go sunday cause sat. the wind was bad enough... It was nasty by hole two and three if im remembering correctly...
