So they did use that wooded area after all, very sweet! I didn't think that was their property.

once this gets opened up and more people get a chance to play it - we should definitely get a bunch of players to write or call or email to say thank you to them for getting it right along with hopes to see it get even better - it's very easy to screw up a design - it's encouraging to hear a good report!

The park hasn't officially opened. The DG course may be done, but the park may not be ready for everyone.  I think it is a good idea to be completely done and not have it open during the construction phase.

It's very simple course designers, until the course is ready to play don't put the baskets in. Once the baskets go in the ground you are going to have people playing them.

Saying that, if I were to play the course before it's open I would park at West Oak Middle School.

Park in the far northwest side of the lot. From the lot you can see a big pole across the open field. This pole has one of the emergency sirens on it. Walk to that pole and follow the dirt trail thru the field into the park. Take a left and follow the parking lot. Look for the football goal posts and follow the tree line down to hole #1.

Make sure to wear plenty of bug repellent!

Tee pads are framed, crushed limestone filled, and fly pads over.
Tee signs are nice.
Park is very nice and has restroom facilities.

This kind of stuff drives me nuts.
#6's tee pad is directly 30ft back of #3's basket.
From # 6's tee you throw back at #5's basket.
I'm not sure how much the walking path is going to be used but it comes into play holes 8 & 9.
Hole #4's basket was put together wrong and the chains are messed up. The tee pad on #7 was installed a little too high and the mower cut a huge section out of it.

Description for RHBH.
1. 224-Anhyzer
Easy pretty open anhyzer.

2. 220-Forehand
Very tricky shot. The angle is not good for a turnover shot. A forehand is the way to go on this hole.

3. 260-Straight
Throw a mid range straight.

4. 180-Anhyzer
Short putter slow anhyzer.

5. 230-Hyzer
Just throw the hyzer past the grouping of trees.

6. 270-Anhyzer
Roc anhyzer. Hang it left and keep it burning.

7. 267-Straight
Very tough hole. Throw it in the gap. Hit a long putt.
Big hyzer? I tried it but came up short.

8. 303-Forehand
The forehand is the way to go. I had several very good birdie looks.

9. 215-Hyzer/Forehand
If you have a good turnover forehand shot that is the $ shot. A tight hyzer shot is the next best option.

There is heavy rough on the course. Once it starts to get played it will open up quite a bit. Right now pretty much every basket has thick rough within 10 feet of the basket. Missed putts land in the rough.

This course fits well in Lake County. It's another short beginner course. Hole #7 is pretty cool.

I took some pictures with my phone while playing with Brett today. I forgot to take a picture of hole 4 from the tee.

I added the course to Disc Golf Course Review and uploaded the pictures for those interested.

If you click on "Map Location" the marker should be right over the first tee. You can use the satellite view to make it easier to see where to walk to.

Thank you very much. I am very addicted to that site.

I checked this course out last night.  Because of its location, design, and terrain, I'm guessing its not going to get much play.  They do have good tees and baskets, but the holes are nothing to write home about.  They are too short and easy for a competitive player to enjoy and the rough is so incredibly thorny and thick.  I don't see casual players having any fun out there looking for their discs on every hole through a 4 foot high thicket of thorns.  I had a painful shower this morning with some of the scratches left on my legs after 3 rounds on this course.  There are definitely a few challenging holes, but they aren't enough to get me to make the hike out there very often.  I did comment that I could see this being a fun course to play in the winter time.

I played this course for the first time 2day.  I like it.  The tee pads are nice fly pads.  The worst thing about the course was its shortness.  I only pulled out a driver three times, and mostly for forehands.  There is plenty of more room here to expand.  When next summer comes around we should get some alternate tees goin.

How I played, 3 rounds

Hole/Disc Used/Shot Used/Score

1: Aviar P & A: Hyzer flip turnover: 2 3 2

2: Firebird: Flick: 4 5 3 (I figured it out eventually  ;) )

3: Roc: Hyzer Flip Straight: 3 2 3

4: Aviar P & A: Anny: 4 2 2

5: KC Pro Aviar: Hyzer: 2 2 2  (All right! Also just for fun my last round I tried a firebird hyzer and hit the basket,  inches low from an ace,  then I stepped up to my real shot, a shanked hyzer on the edge of the rough and nailed the 60 ft stradle putt!  Defintly the highlight of the day.)

6: Roc: BIG ANNY: 3 2 2

7: Roc: Hyzer Flip Straight: 3 3 6

8: Firebird: Forehand: 4 3 3 (Cool hole)

9: Destroyer rounds 1 & 2, Roc round 3: Sidearm anny/ Hyzer: 3 4 3 ( Had a 20 ft look past the basket in the last round in the rough, throwing through a tight gap with thorns frickin everywhere, inches low on the stradle  :P Almost an awsome end to the day  ;) )

Final: 28 26 26

After so many birdies I felt pretty good but I had a bad hole or 2 each round

I feel like I should of shot in the 21-23 range.

See ya guys at dubs on sunday

Peace

Steven

Be careful on hole number 4 if you go deep into the woods there is a sink hole there that is about 3.5 feet in diameter and looks to be about 4 to 5 feet deep. It isn't a problem during the fall because it is easy to see, but during the winter time could be extremely dangerous.

CEValkyrie

I forgot how bad this course really is. Today was a fresh reminder.

Haha, I had that slap in the face reminder a few weeks ago.

Same here!  I got out of work early a few weeks ago and decided to stop by just for the hell of it.

The cross country teams were constantly running thru the fairways during my round.   Although I usually play 2 rounds there, I got sick of waiting and left after 9.  >:(
