Well, if like 3% of disc golfers are left handed (throwing out wild generalizations here) then shouldn't only 1 or 2 holes out of 18 be designed for left handed people?

Well, if you were making a fair and balanced course I think you'd make 6 lefty holes, 6 righty holes and 6 holes that are neutral or could be played both ways. Lefties might be a small percentage of the population but they have to play all the holes. You'd have to define what you are trying to achieve before you start your design. True lefty holes should be a challenge to righties by definition, right? But lefties are much more used to playing righty holes than visa versa. Shove that up your nose lil wayne!

I just don't buy into it. If 90% of Innova throwing disc golfers are throwing Rocs, why would they go out and make those in limited quantities and start mass producing Sharks. Poor business decision.

edit: I don't mind "hard" courses in the least bit or have a problem with "lefty dominant" courses. I just don't think it's really a concern worth validating a course on.

Maybe we should start a lefty-righty course design thread, but I'll add to the drift a bit

Variety is definetly a concern when validating a course. I haven't gone up to play Antioch because of Brett's description that it's RHBH city. I don't want to play the same shot over & over. I have a decent forehand drive, so lefty holes don't bother me as much (although righty forehand isn't the same as lefty hyzer, but that's another topic altogether) We all like the easy courses, 'cause they're fun, but it's so much more satisfying shooting under at a tough course. Take West Park vs. Channahon for instance.

I also found Silver/Gold to be not as good or interesting as Red or Blue. Not that it's bad at all, still puts ours to shame, and I'd play it any day of the week. Maybe because it doesn't have elevation. That's the only real difference in that area of the park.

El Mexicano

I have yet to play the New Lemon Lake. Where is the Silver course located in regards to the red/blue course. It has been a couple of years since I played Homie. I remember the blue course was a temp course mostly. They used some permanet holes from the original 27 hole course...or was it 24? Are they now three 18 hole courses?

Juan,

Lemon lake is 3 full 18-hole courses now, Red, Blue, and Silver/Gold.  Red is the West course, Blue is East, and Silver is over just past the blue course, just over the bridge .  Silver's a nice course, but not as hard as they said it would be.  Some of the Gold layout teepads looked pretty gnarly though.  I still prefer the Blue course though (one and only 1000-rated round on that course, -7)

Nicely done. I would like to get out there some day. Season is quickly coming to an end, so and hour and a half drive for a casual round is gonna be tough.

A few of us are going to Lemon Lake on Wednesday 3/11.  I was wondering if anyone has been there in the past few days and how the course is holding up with all this rain. BTW we will be there around 10am and will be playing all day if any locals wanna join us.

This was in DiscGolfFlyMart's latest newsletter:

QuoteThe 5th course is currently being installed at Lemon Lake. What I've seen of it so far uses some unique elevation changes...what color should we make it? We already have Red, White, Blue, Gold, and Silver.

Does anyone have the scoop on this?

I'm in the same boat as you Mike.  Don't know too much. I have been hearing rumors about a Black Course in the northeast corner of the park for awhile.  I think it would be similar to Gold/Silver in terms of terrain.  I don't think there's a lot of open land north of the fishing pond.  I could be wrong.  So it will probably be technical with elevation/drop-offs like the Silver course.  Maybe I'll try to scope it out on Sunday.

I think I will play Red and White this weekend. I'm not looking for any trouble.  If I wanted to play dangerous disc I would play the back nine at Jericho and wear a helmet. ;D
