Nice!

Bruce Brakel

I saw Kelsey at a barn dance near Corunna last night.  She still wants to be your partner.  She will get her Bio-Chem syllabus on Wednesday and then she will know whether she can play.

I'm going out to practice this beast after lunch if anyone is up for it. Bruce- I'll measure 6-22 while I'm out there.

If you get anyone to join you, play doubles and we can put up some practice scores.  The basket for the last hole will be on the berm by the pond with the fountains.

Hole 6R to 22 is 651 ft as the crow flies. The first time I threw the hole, I played to the basket for 8. Whoops.

After playing the safari holes, I don't think you'll really need the yellow rope separating 6B-7 from 6R-22. A lot of the paint (Blue/White/Red) marking the tees has worn off.  You'll need to make sure you flag which tees we are playing for the event.

btw Playing doubles, my alter ego and I threw a 69. If my alter ego had stopped stealing discs out of my bag, I definitely could have improved on that.

I finished tweaking my doubles leaderboard card today.  For this format I figured I'd need a place for the team rating and the flight in the upper right corner, and a place for the entry fee options on the upper left.

I also finished tweaking my leaderboard.  If you are teeing off on hole 16 --> 17, the leaderboard says 16 --> 17.

Trophy baskets are under way.  I need to buy a hole cutting blade to finish them up.

Given the number of options I'm a little confused as to what I should
sign up for.

I've never played in a tournament, and I'm not a PDGA member.

Do I have to find a partner, or can I sign up as a single and get assigned someone?
If I sign up for the flighted cash prize, since I am unrated (and essentially unknown) does that mean I get placed in the bottom flight? What kind of score would win the bottom flight?

Bruce Brakel

@greiman:  This tournament is so different from a standard PDGA singles tournament, it might not be your best option for a first tournament experience.  The upcoming Channahon tournament might provide a better first tournament experience.

This is a doubles tournament which means you have to have a partner.  I always encourage "stag" players to show up for my doubles tournaments because we can usually connect them with another player and get them in.  Usually someone will show up who pre-reged and his partner is "indisposed" or otherwise absent, or other stag players will show up.

With no rating whatsoever, you and your partner will not be able to get in on the ratings-based flight sidegame.  For purposes of playing trophy-only, we would put you and your partner in the flight that seems appropriate.

I'm home now so I'll update the pre-reg on PDGA.com tomorrow.

Just played the course this morning.

Scrambled with myself, and finished with a 62.  That was playing the regular hole 27 (as a par 3) since there was no extra basket to aim for, so technically, my par was 66.

Which tree should we be aiming around on 16-17?

Also, there is only one tee box for holes 8 and 23

.

Bruce Brakel

The 16-17 tree is a little to the left of the straight line from 16 to 17, kind of half way out there and it is really big.  There will be a sign there for the tournament.

Thnks for the heads up on 8 and 23.
