I am extremely confused as to why I am still on the waitlist.  Doesn't it say that a minimum of 200 points makes you a category 6?  I have 630 amateur points.  I am wondering if it has something to do with the fact that I played one Pro tournament last year.    At any rate, if I somehow get in when they review the list on June 15 then I do plan on going.  I'd be interested in making the trip with anybody who wants to.  Presently they have me 5th from the top of the current waiting list.  that really sucks.

I owe a few people lunch...I'm not going, decided to go to Telluride Bluegrass festival instead.  I am working hard to not play as much as I have been and keep my weekends open to Rock climbing, music festivals, dating, mountain biking and fishing..  I do play everyday during the week, but will only play a few events this year that are local.  Good luck to everyone going.
Let us hope that the whores of evil no longer loiter on the doorsteps of your path beckoning you into the brothel of despair, and that here and after may present them with the most rigid manistfestation of a firm and manly will.

Dan,
I had 645 points so I must've been close to not getting in. My sources are not for sure either & they said e-mail the pdga -> office@pdga.com

With Shawn not going you've bumped up to #4.

If you have a question send nice e-mail to office@pdga.com and they will send a nice answer.

I have not followed the qualifying rules.  I made everyone in my immediate family play enough to qualify on points, in case they changed the rules for women and children, which resulted in two of them winning touring player pins!  I've won one touring player pin and its my favorite "trophy."  Kira did not think much of hers.  She was not even aware that she had won her division for points in the PDGA last year.  Kelsey was more appreciative.

The points system does need some tweaking, exactly how, I'm not sure.

As I'd hoped, I may have caught a break by turning 50 this year (hack, wheeze, groan), so I qualify in GM, not sure I would have in M. But, I know I'm stronger/equal to at least one other GM who's in, maybe a couple of masters, so I don't feel guilty. Age does have its benefits, although there's not many...

What *is* bizarre, though, is that the points I earned as a straight int at Oly last month put me at the top of the IL *GM* list for 2004, which is a joke.

In the long run, I just wanted to get in to play this year - although a week in f** Des Moines isn't all that attractive. Don't think I'll get out to PA or wherever it is next year. Just hoping I can pace myself/train myself so my shoulder doesn't crap out again before August

Dan, I'd do some checking, but hope for the best. You certainly deserve to get in, and I bet you will.  ;)
thanks,
Damon

I think it is Arizona next year for the amateurs, Pennsylvania for pros.

Pacing yourself is key at the Worlds in the old guy divisions.  Especially off the course!

So, Jon, do you get to play Am Masters next year?  Start looking for tournaments where we can partner up!

woo hoo!  I took Bruce's advise and emailed the PDGA office with my problem and they said they screwed up and only looked at my 2003 Pro points (80) and not my Am Points (630).  My invite will be sent out June 1st with everyone else's.  I can't wait to go!  I knew something was wacky when i saw other advanced players with like 220 points got accepted and i didn't.  thank god i emailed them  :D

You could take the proactive approach, (as much as I hate that nonword that has long since been banned by the Unicorn Club) and start looking for the right job right now.  Then when Worlds rolls around you could say to your boss, "Are you absolutely positive I cannot have that week off?"  "Well, it was nice working for you but I have been accepted to compete in the World Championships of the sport I play and that is a little more important than this job to me, right now."

I was looking at the schedule for the Worlds tonight and realized that we (advanced) don't play all of the courses.  We mostly play Big Creek, Gateway Park, and Des Moines Comm. College.  Does anybody know what these courses are like?  Are they tight, wooded or more open.  I'm a little disappointed we don't get to play at Iowa State, as I heard that was a decent course.

Adrian Jr., I saw this post at pdga.com under the jr. worlds thread. I don't know if you're looking for a doubles partner.

The July 26 registration deadline is now just 2 weeks away. Looks like a pretty healthy turnout for the juniors.

My 17 year old son, Alex does not currently have a partner for the boys <19 divisional doubles. I was told that partners must be chosen and entry paid prior to the July 6 deadline.

Are there others out there looking for a doubles partner?

Thanks for the info Jon. I'm still working on getting registered and planning the trip.
