i just started trying to contact people at cook county and this guy seems to not return my calls and never be around, however, i do have some good news, I have been speaking with Northfield Park District and they have just given me maps so that i can begin to design a course wiht this guy named mike glass.  mike will be paying for the course but there is a 40-50% of it actually making it into the ground, but i think that if a number of people begin emailing them that they will be much more inclined to approve it, the email adress for the guy i have been talking to is  gdawson@northfieldparks.org, his name is Grant Dawson and he seems open to the idea, so if a bunch of you guys could write him an email saying that you heard that there is a possibility of a course going in in northfield adn that you think that it is a great idea that would be fantastic.

I am a Skokie resident, parent and disc golfer.  I understand that the Northfield Park District is considering installing a disc golf course.  I wish I could say the same for my village.  I think this is an excellent idea and strongly recommend that Northfield follow through and build a course.  There is a dearth of disc golf courses on the north shore.

Disc golf is an activity that is enjoyed by all ages.  I am the parent of two teenagers.  Any sports activity is good for them.  I have often taken my thirteen year old to the course in Glencoe.  Disc Golf is one of the rare activities where someone in their 50's or 60's will play a round with someone in thier 20's or even teens. Disc golfers also bring money to the local economy.  The local convenience stores will be able to sell drinks, snacks, and perhaps discs as well to incoming golfers.  

Disc golfers are "green" users.  We clean up after ourselves.  We use the garbage cans.  We leave the area as clean, or cleaner, than we found it.  We take an interest in local courses and often work to keep them in good playing condition with the cooperation of local park districts.

for those of you still interested, mike glass and i went out to Willow Park in northfield and began to design a 9 hole course, i know its not much, but its better than nothing, and glencoe.  the earliest this course would go in is this spring, but its still pretty much up in the air, we are going to introduce the guy weve been talking to disc golf and hopefully win him over.

Where are you thinking of putting the object course? I live in Chicago and would be very interested in anything closer (and cheaper than Edgebrook).
