Don't say that 'Jim' name, either, or you'll be on double-secret probation!
:-)
Seriously, D-Train, stay positive.  The power of positive thought and a good pilsner should help . . . .

Problems dont make the man they reveal him.
Adversity is a great motivator.
If you have not completed school. Complete it !
The best advice for a young person is devote yourself to school.
You will get healed up soon, when you are 100% you will have to ask yourself what did you learn from your misfortune ? You can start now at this moment getting your priorities straight then setting small short term goals. Get the ball rolling and nothing will stop you. Your goals will direct you in the right direction. Plus if things seem like they are getting out of control (which they wont) Call the Mangler ASAP.

Well, it's been an interesting first week...

This injury happened on the 7th, it is now the 15th. I've been to 4 different doctors, and of course have gotten 4 different opinions.

This 4th doctor I went to today is some foot surgeon, he's written books on it and seemed to be very knowledgable. He has  done 26 of these surgerys where the most out of the other 3 surgeons I spoke to had only done 6. It's not a very common injury, but apparentely isn't a difficult surgery.

Anyways, he told me that casting or a boot is an option, along with surgery - the idea with casting is; you leave the tendon in place (due to the injury the peroneal tendon subluxates), cast it for 6 weeks, and let the body heal. This is the route I have chosen to take.

Alot of my friends, and relatives have told me to take the "safe" route and go with surgery - but the simple fact that I learned is- there is no safe route. Anything I do has a chance of complication, and I want all my bases covered. If I have surgery it may snap again or become infected. And with this cast now - it may not heal - the chances he said are 50/50, but he has seen it work.

So, in short, in 6 weeks I'll be able to do whatever I want, physically. run, bike, disc golf, basketball, whatever.  We're just not yet sure that it'll work. If it doesn't, I wasted 6 weeks in a cast and will have to go through with surgery anyways - but I wanted to atleast give it a shot.

So.. hopefully things will heal properly, I can avoid being cut up, and see you at winter leagues? :)

So did you sell the CE teebird to Fan Man?   :D   I guess I'm not getting that skill shot for cheap either :)   Can't wait to see you playing golf again D-train.  Don't think that this injury is going to allow you to play lower pool again though sandbagger

My personal opinion is if you find a surgeon who suggests an alternative to surgery, you have probably found yourself a good surgeon and possibly some good advice. Most surgeons recommend surgery because it is what they do. It is their perspective.

No I haven't Dan, and I don't think I'm going to now. He said he'd call me around 630 or stop by, he's going to be heartbroken  :D

Good point Jon, something I definitely had to keep in mind during this process

*If you really want the Skillshot, I will selly it

Or maybe if you find a surgeon who suggests an alternative to surgery then you have found a nervous surgeon who is horrified to try and perform your surgery.

Performing an unnecessary surgery is not surgery at all, its mutilation :P

This guy was the most knowledgeable of all the doctors I went to concerning this specific problem

I think you have your head on straight.  Odds are it will not get any worse without surgery.  You have a chance for less invasive healing.  If it doesn't work, all you lost was six weeks.

Keep your Skill Shot.  However, I have a question,  I was thinking of getting one, what do you think of it?

Good luck.

You may also want to check with Sun King. Mention yer a club member & chances are you'll get it for less than $100. Adrian Sr. might still have one as well.
Don't forget your towel!

thanks

I had been given a quote of 100 (90 and 10) from Chainreaction.  I passed that along to my spouse as this is to be a non-surprise gift.  Dunno if she has done anything about it.  If Adrian wants to get rid of one I might be able to oblige.

D

Well, I've only putted on it a couple times - It's not bad at all - definitely much better putting practice than my Discatcher.

$80, only used it 3-4 times. Never had a chance to use it like I wanted to. It's in it's protective travel case right now and has been since I bought it. Let me know if your interested.

No cute nurses but alot of cute secretaries, lucky doctors
Glad someone shares my point of logic, Chainmeister.

I would be glad to buy your Skill Shot.  However, I want to know whether you really want to sell.  If this is a reaction to the injury, I say hold on to it.  If you were going to sell anyway, lets talk.  My wife wants to buy me a new one, but if yours is essentialy new and if you really want to part with it, let me know.

Concerned disc golfer

Diron~ not that it is any of my business, but i did not appreciate seeing you and nate exchanging oral between hole 7 and 8 at adler about 2 weeks ago, i just got back in town and this is my first chance to post this. adler is a park for family and friends, not a park of smut. next time i am playing adler i dont want to see you rimming nasty nate on the bench or him tossing your salad while giving u a hand job (rusty trombone.) have some class and rent a room, thank you
