I was considering selling it prior to this big mess. It's a really nice pin, it's just easier for me to use my Discatcher that sits outside instead of setting this up, even though it takes about a minute.

So yes, I was planning on selling it prior to the injury

Todd. Fanning

Id like to see you set it up in a min, lol, last time i set it up with u i had to do cause u couldnt figure it out, ahah. i mean i cant set it up in a minute either. unless thats what u have been doin since ur injury is practicing setting that thing up. lol:P

Well thoes were the first times I was setting it up jerk! lol

I didn't know that the bottom part extended that far out, so I couldn't find the notch...

One minute! I bet ya your skillshot!

airspuds

dont forget u also have to make sure
you dont pinch the fingers on the throwing hand
it takes at least a minute to remember that

That was the most difficult thing about setting it up, especially the few times when it was chilly.. OUCH

Well it's been 19 days since the injury, and 12 days since I got the cast on.

I haven't had any type of junk food or outside food in 19 days (other than a subway salad and bmt 18days ago) and I've been drinking this "Super Food" drink every day. Which is basically this super healthy shake that looks, tastes and probably is pond algae   I've also been drinking "pau d'arco" which is like steamed tree bark, compared to the super food it tastes great. Supposed to purify my blood or something.. ?

My mom talked to abunch of herbalists, she told me if I take mineral suppliments it will heal the injury. Hope it turns out to be true.

I feel great! Only problem is I'm in this stinkin' cast! :( I think my leg muscle is starting to atrophine (spelling?) I've been experiencing some pain the past couple days, for about 20mins or so, then it'll stop. So I'm told I need to make sure I'm taking calcium and magneseum. BLAH

I've always been interested in medicine, maybe this will jump start a carrer in sports medicine, who knows. This entire process has been pretty interesting to me, and it still isn't over.

Found this HUGE site with all this information about peroneal tendon instability and the surgery, pictures initially freaked me out. Hope it doesn't come to that. Been praying ;)

I haven't been out with any of my friends in a week, it's a bit of a hassle to get around.. Just playing guitar and xbox, hanging around. Think I might be going nuts    :D Thanksgiving was good though, brought some sanity back to my mind.

If anyone has any take on nutrtion I wouldn't mind hearing it :)

mirth

kava kava makes you feel funny. ;)
Don't forget your towel!

D

Ha!! No question..

It's because the valaerian root :P

D

This little bitch is coming off on the 27th!!!  11 days till the end of the horror

Really hope santa comes through from me this year!

Since the injury - no fast food in 40days. But it's been tough, at one point I think I was getting withdrawl symptoms ;)

Chainmeister

Don't be surprised when you see a little stick where your leg used to be.  The muscle will return.  You impressed me with the fast food embargo.  I was on the road this week and had too much.  I'm going cold turkey (rather than hot fries :D ). I hope I can hold out.

Ha..

I think I lost about 5pounds by cutting fast food from my diet.. I also saved $200.

It's hard man, I swear I woke up one morning craving a whopper with cheese and french fries. Like CRAVE..Talk about addiction.

Left leg is super strong, I feel like my 5'11 ass could slam dunk. I've been hopping around on it alot, as it's much faster than the crutches and better exercise, although I think my pinky toe is starting to shift in order to help balance my 160 pound ass, funny how that stuff works.

Hook me up with some biking info Dave

Chainmeister

Diron

our bike club website is www.evanstonbikeclub.org

There are links to are cue sheets (routes) which include a lot of Lake County rides.  I know there is a bike club in Lake County as well.  Since I have gotten the golf bug I have been riding on Saturday and discing on Sunday.  I am hoping to ride up to Leagues sometimes next summer (@30 miles each way).

You CAN ride in this weather if you have the right clothes.  The biggest thing is a balaclava.  (I have no idea if I spelled that correctly)  It is about $15 and is a very lightweight hood.  You can wear it under your helmet.  Brett was wearing a fleece version last Sunday at Bevier.  These are usually too warm for the bike and will make you overheat.

Will there be a ritual burning of the cast? :P

D

Cool site Dave

That's always something I've wanted to try

Isn't there a bike path that goes through Libertyville which leads to the Lake?

Anywho, Christmas was good - cast is off tomorrow at 11:30, I caved at 43days without fast food, but it was a good run :)

Let's see if Santa can deliver the most important gift on my list, a healed right foot :)

D

Okay..

It is finally off

The moment the doctor took the cast off my foot was shaking beyond control. Not violently but just like spazms. I couldn't keep it steady for some reason. When he cleaned my foot/leg it felt like it was the first time something had touched my leg, it was the weirdest sensation.

Still not sure if it's healed, I'm still using the crutches. He told me to get into physical therpay and take it slow. My leg muscle looks like nothing compared to my other leg

Probably be another day or so before I stand on it or attempt to walk, but I've been doing small exercises and massaging it to get used to the feeling again.

So weird how much damage 6 weeks of immobilization can do, especially on something weight bearing

Mazel tov on getting the cast off!   I just saw your 12-26 post.  I am not sure where in Libertyville you are or where you would want to go to the lake, but how about this:

Get to St. Marys Rd.  When I am in Libertyville I usually take a few side streets of which you should be aware to Oak Spring to St. Marys.

two routes here:

1) North to Atkinson. Atkinson goes uphill and is not my favorite road.  Turn Right (south) on Waukegan. It is safe to bike here.  At the corner of Waukegan and 176 you pick up the McClory bike path and go east towards Lake Bluff and can go south to Lake Forest.  Also, if you know how to get to 176 from Libertyville, you can pick up the path there.  However, the path is crushed limestone (yuck!) west of 176 and paved east of 176.

2) South on St. Mary's to Old School.  East on Old School to Bradley.  I think it becomes Riverwoods when you are south or Rte 60.  Turn east on Everett.  An alternative is to continue  on St. Marys all the way to Everett and go east from there.  Everett will turn into Old Elm and you will wind up by Fort Sheridan.

Wanna ride from Libertyville to Bevier?

North on St. Marys to Lexington then north on Saddle Creek to White Fence.  East on White Fence then north on O'Plaine.  Go a long way to Grand, which is ridable at O'Plaine.  East on Grand to Delany and north again.  Take that up to Yorkhouse.  I think there is a road just south of Bevier, Blanchard Rd., that may hook up w/ McAree on the west border of the park.

enough info...good luck in therapy. The above info came from the Chicago Bike Federation map.  I have an extra copy if you want one.

airspuds

good luck

plenty of time to get ready for summer

like i said before this is a great time for you to learn how to run events

glad to hear new year is going to start out good for you

Dave -

The bikes in my garage are like bmx/older mountain bikes and most of them have flats from sitting there. Except my little sisters bikes lol

Do you have any you don't use anymore that maybe you'd be willing to sell for a fair price? :)

Chainmeister

I am too short for you. I will solicit the bike gods and see if there is something used but roadworthy in somebody's basement, garage or laboratory.  I could likely get the mountain bike up and running for you.  If you put on slicker tires it will be ok for rides of 30 or less miles but will still be slower than a road bike.  I will be at soccer games on Sundays in Libertyville beginning the 9th and can take a look at the bike and see what the diagnosis is.

D

Haha, diagnosis = don't want to ride a bike that looks like that

I'd appreciate it if you solicit the bike gods ;)
