how is it that mark luebeck wasn't in the finals he had the best 2 rounds of open? and ryan johnson was better than jordan merriman. accidental finger mashing the culprit?

Yes, that's a finger mashing mistake. I'll fix it tonight or tomorrow morning when I get home. Today's first round results are up.

Too bad I can't win something for winding up in 31st place in rec for all 3 IOS tournaments I have played in this year. ;)

Thanks all for showing me how much I need to work on my game lol :)

Good times though, hopefully won't be as sore on Friday!

The round ratings for Sunday are interesting. I shot two strokes better the second round and was rated lower for it. If you shot the same score both rounds, the second round was rated 30-52 points lower. The wind was pretty consistent (though I think the sun went on hiatus for the second round). Maybe players learned to stay clear of the creek the second round or something.

Mike-I noticed the same thing about my rounds-I shot better the second but the rating is lower.

I suppose it's because the 'gators didn't do as well the second round  ;)

Actually it would be because the gators all did better their second round.

I'm sure having a few people improving their score by double digits in the second round had something to do with it.The last card in intermediate had a huge round to round gain.

The results are "unofficial" so maybe the math gets worked out to make them "official" and we'll have better rated second rounds.

....(ditto)... maybe this can be explained statistically - for example, the 2nd rd avg was over 2 shots lower for Int alone, over 1.5 lower if you account for the wounded TD and the other guy   ::)  - but it still seems drastic. It's less than one shot/avg if you factor in all divisions (tossing out < 800s).

you sure the 2nd rd was entered with the same # of holes?   8)
thanks,

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

the "To par" numbers are right. So the number of holes is correct.

My last round was the best round out of the four I played this weekend...but it was the lowest rated!  Is it because the low-rated gators shot really well the last round? Bruce?

BTW, had a lot of fun this weekend.  It was my first time at Streamwood, and I had a blast!

I got home at 3:30 and just got out of bed.  And out of the shower.

I think Streamwood is a course where you can learn a lot after the first round, play hole by hole, and shoot a lot better.  Shooting better by most means lower ratings for for everyone for the same score as the morning.

There was a huge difference between ratings for round 2 day 1 and round 2 day 2.  The conditions were about the same.  If you played in the lower pool you got pocketpicked for about 30 points!   :o  I think this means that lower day Sunday players were able to learn more from their first round mistakes.  Maybe they made a lot more first round mistakes to learn from.

With all of the CTP activity in both rounds these days, I'd like to suggest some general rules. If there is any question about which disc is closer, walk it off or measure. Perhaps ask an official, get the consensus of your group.

Yesterdays incident on hole one was a good example. The guy was seen just waking up and relocating the flag without any of the above. Granted, I only had it by 4-5 inches on a 7ft lie, but that was total BS. Thanks to Diana and KVN for helping to resolve it.

For the second round, it would also behoove us to somehow instruct players that they need at least three on the card. With two holes to go, we caught up to the last card on Rec which only had two players (one no-show).

CTPs should also be short grass only. There was at least one CTP flag I saw that was in the rough and hard to find.

Also it would be nice to have officials somewhat nearby. I know we don't have enough volunteers, but it's hard get an official's opinion when you are out at the far end of the course. I put in my $10 to take the officials test, but that only helps for divisions I'm not playing in. Do we have many misc certified officials that are out playing?

There were in fact a ton of rules infractions during Sunday play. It would be good if the officials walked the course during the round and were available for on the spot calls.

I'll see if we can get a Marshall next year.  They provide Marshalls for all those dinky NT tournaments.   ;)

There was a lot of confusion with how to play a disc lost o.b. versus a disc merely lost or merely o.b.

Next tournament we might have the certified officials raise their hands at the players meeting.

It would be nice to see players actually finish there rounds and not walk off just because they didn't shoot well in the 2nd round of the tournament.

I can understand having to end the round due to INJURY or EMERGENCY; but I can confirm that wasn't the case this Saturday at Streamwood.

If you shoot a bad round well you shot a bad round!!  Skipping out of your last few holes to take a DNF to avoid a BAD RATING is unsportsmenlike or I should say "poor sportsmenship".

Keep in mind I had some ankle pain that 2nd round and I still finished.  Recap I had surgery to repair a tendon in my ankle this past October.  I try to be a honest to the game I guess.  I just can't understand why the PDGA hasn't fixed this problem yet.

Just my 2 cents.

Sorry Brett I couldn't keep it to myself.
