Look out for cops at Jericho.  :police: They are out there a lot anyway; but lately it's been every single time I'm out there.  :hippy2:

Easy way to ward off the cops is to not do anything illegal there..... :nono:

Abelardo Arenas

:icon_rolleyes: I was thinking more of people driving 15 mph in a 15 mph speed zone. And littering. And buckling up. Don't forget to buckle up everyone! It's the law.

I would never consider doing anything illegal myself  :angel12:

Dan, Brett, and I went and played in February and a guy had his dog off leash for about a minute and a half and a ranger showed up there ready to write him up.

Oh, and don't disturb the cable installer and the blonde, in the white van. They're out there a lot too.  :-*

Are you sure he's a cable installer? Sounds like he might actually be a plumber laying some pipe.

ha, yeah that comcast van is there usually everyday during the week from about 2-6 usually with the van running, good thing its his company gas hes wasting. Also the rangers like to bust people that go into the creek and the lake.

I was out there this morning. It's nice seeing cement pads for both sets of tees. While I've wedged a couple of putters in the sides of the basket, this was the first time I've had this happen.
There was also another player out taking pictures of the course. He said there is a new club out there starting. The website (not up yet) will be foxvalleymetro.com

Looking forwards to IOS#6.

Maybe I can join you guys. I haven't played Aurora in a while.

Do "hangers" count as a completed hole, or do you have to put again?

pickax

They're good.
Quote803.13.B. Disc Entrapment Devices: In order to hole out, the thrower must release the disc and it must come to rest supported by the chains or within one of the entrapment sections. This includes a disc wedged into or hanging from the lower entrapment section but excludes a disc resting on top of, or hanging outside of, the upper entrapment section. The disc must also remain within the chains or entrapment sections until removed.

I have some questions concerning this event, i was gonna post in the new player forum but this board seems to be more active.  What can I expect as far as being a spectator?  Do many people come to just watch?  Can you follow certain players around or do you have to watch from a certain area? Also, I can't decide whether to participate in the Rec/beginner tournament, I just started playing last June, I only know one type of throw and only own a few discs, and I rarely par this course, but it is the course i play the most.  Do people who have just started and are as bad as me play :) ;)?  Or maybe I should just check it out, keep practicing and try next year.  I'd appreciate any info. you guys could provide for a beginner like me.

Mangler

My suggestion is go watch the Saturday Tourney and maybe volunteer as a spotter get a little involved, watch and learn, practice what you saw and come out gunnin on Sunday.
"The use of drugs is a perverse expression of individualism, antisocial and life-denying,It isn't an assertion of individuality; it's a substitute for it. It's not an attempt to be different when everyone else is becoming more alike; it's a way of copping out. And that's the worst thing you can do."

Bruce Brakel

You can watch from anywhere so long as you follow ordinary golf etiquette.  Don't talk while people are throwing.  Don't be moving around in someone's line of sight while they are throwing.  We don't get a lot of spectators.  One of the guys in the pavillion can tell you where the pros are starting if you want to see the top Illinois pros play.

If you want to play Sunday definately play in the rec division, and think about playing trophy-only.  You can get $19 in value for your $19 non-member trophy-only entry fee if you ask for the "Throw Discraft" player pack.  Sunday is two rounds of 21 or 22 holes, whatever Brett announced, and it will take all day.

If you decide to play, tell the people in your group that you are a new player and hopefully they will help you out with the rules.  Also, be sure to attend the first-time player meeting that Brett does.  That will help a lot with tournament rules.

david gibson, a buddy from breckenridge, and i (and possibly some others) will be at aurora this saturday as well.  not sure about the 8:30 a.m. time for the first round (we have a big night planned tonight), but will definitely be there for a couple of rounds afterward.  drathe, mex, etc...  bring your game.

and to doug, ditto what mangler and bruce said.  come on out on saturday and watch the big boys, maybe pick up some new plastic and a rule book, then come back on sunday and show 'em how the locals do it.  welcome to the board.
have the good fun.

Bruce Brakel

I put in my Discraft order Friday.  It is a pretty simple order.  I'm getting enough ESP Pulses and Surges to last the rest of the year, and some of the new ESP First Run Crushes, Avengers and Preds.  I'll be able to do 12 Brass pricing on all the ESP which continues to be a really good deal especially for the first runs.  I'm getting some medium dryfit shirts for some medium volunteers and some large and XL dryfits for whomever.

I had a special request for some 2nd Time First Run Buzzzes or whatever they decided to call the new flat top Buzzz.  If you want one holler now.  I'll see what I can do for Brass pricing on those on Tuesday.

I'm getting just a couple of Spectras.  I want to throw them with Sidewinders to see how they compare to decide whether to include them in next years SuperColor mix.  If you wanted a Spectra, I'll have a couple, but they have a mandatory minimum price on those of $20.  Brass will work for those too.

I just started playing about 3 months ago, played my first tourney at Streamwood (even earned a little brass), and will be playing in Aurora too. Come out, play rec. Support the sport!

Man o man, playing for 3 months, me just under a year, and you kick my butt by 21 strokes across 2 rounds at Streamwood?  Remind me again why I'm playing this game? lol.  Great job for your first tournament :)  Excuse me while I go chucking my mini around after missing yet another bounce-out putt...

Based on another thread, it looks like there's a stinging insect nest in the rough between the fairway and the creek on hole #6. Most likely it's below ground. If it can be found (without endangering ourselves), it would be good idea to mark it (or at the very least mention it at the player's meeting.)
