Is there a course layout document yet with hole lengths, OB notes, etc for IOS #7? I think it's been a great thing to have posted ahead of time. I know it helped having it printed in my bag with all the different OB, drop zones, etc at Aurora.

I do not have one for Fairfield. There is little OB out there.

Parking Lot is OB
Fence on North side of park is OB & does not come into play unless it's a really, really brutal shot.
Might be some rope OB around the swamp.
Creek on hole #14 or over is OB
That is it.

The field has never been ob in the past. It was always announced as casual ob if in the field.

I think his question was asking if the field was corn or soybeans this year.

I heard it was soybeans, and easier to find discs because of it  ;)
thanks,

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

Soybeans.  Actually, it was harder to find discs this year as the entire view of any ground was blocked by leaves.  At least with the corn you could look up and down the rows.  The beans are dried and brown now and it shouldn't be a problem.  It'll be a little tougher hole this year simply because the swamp wasn't wet last year and this year it is all the way over to the edge by 18's fairway.  I'll bet there are a number of second shots on 18 this year thrown from ankle deep water.

Brett, any thought of making 11a an island green with the long grass being OB and the short grass around the practice basket being in bounds?  That is assuming we're playing the new tee to the practice basket.  It's a big enough area to be fair to all divisions, but would break up at least one of the 300ish straight and open holes with something different and a little more challenge.  How far is that hole anyway?  It's definitely longer than the other 11a, but I can't tell.
That kid is back on the escalator!!!

For the field south of the park, when you say casual OB I assume you mean some sort of out-of-bounds sans penalty stroke special conditions area? I can't see how the casual obstacle 5m back helps.

Right. We tell the players that if they are clearly in the crops (this year being soy beans) to take their disc and bring it in to where they will no longer be playing in the crops, no penalty. This is because the fence is only partialy there and there is no feasible way to mark the line. It would be 10 times more yellow rope than we have and would be a nightmare to put in there and take because its such a jungle. Plus, most places where you might get into the soy beans it is not too much help to bring back out of the soy beans. You're still in deep doo doo. My suggestion is to just not throw in there.  ;)

I threw a couple of drives on 18 today and one went in the soybean field.  It is extremely easy to find your disc in the soybean field right now.

Just lookin' at the pre-reg list and noticed that Ben and I are registered for Saturday.  We'll only be playing on Sunday...me in the int men's division, and Ben in the MarioKart DS division.  Trophies ready for that, Bruce?  Looking forward to playing with Mukey.  I think I tanked well enough at USWDGC that I should drop down to Rec Men next year...

Forgot all about that one.  Doing it now.  I'll also check the divisions against the trophies to make sure we have trophies for pre-registered disc golf divisions.

Per the Weather Channel:

Oct 14  Saturday
Sunshine. Highs in the low 50s and lows in the upper 30s.
Oct 15  Sunday
Showers. Highs in the low 50s and lows in the mid 30s.

Overstable discs, raingear, gloves, boots, extra socks.  Be a boy scout and be prepared.  Good weekend to  play pro or advanced.  I'll bring equipment to deal with the elements on Sunday. It still beats working. I don't know about playing video games in the rain, but will leave that to Jon to figure out. Will the park district let us build a bonfire to keep warm between rounds? ;D
