This is an event from Lazer 103 in Milwaukee.  Most people know about the Bob and Brian Open with ball golf.  Fish is the afternoon guy on Lazer during the week.  It will sell out quick come August 13th, so they are letting the disc golf community sign up before the rest of the world.  The contact to save a spot and sign up is Terry Miller his e-mail  Terry@prodiscgolfer.com

Here is the info, should be a fun one..

Now that Fish has been at LAZER a while he wanted to have an event where his listener could get together and have a good time. After throwing out several ideas (mostly because they would have resulted in lawsuits, jail time and quite possibly the end of civilization as we know it), the Fish Fly Open was born. Then our Sales staff heard about it and The Torque Center Fish Fly Open was born.

On Saturday, September 13 at Dretzka Park Fish invites disc-golfers from around the land to throw down. No matter if you're hard core or a newbie, all are welcome.

Never played disc golf before? No biggie, a "Course Pro" will accompany first-time

foursomes, offering tips and techniques to enhance the experience. There

will also be loads of prizes, the Beat Your Fish hole - where you can beat Fish and win prizes, and event swag along with instructions and freestyle demonstrations from the area's top disc golfers.

I may come out to play Parkside regardless of what time the safari is but I know for certain that I won't be making it up for the Fish Open.

That being said, life is all about choices... When the 2003 safari calendar was set up it was done in such a way that everyone was able to choose which events they wanted to play. With the safari series now past the make-or-break seven events some people have the luxury of not 'needing' to make any specific event in order to be in the running for the big prize.

If the time's moved earlier then the club risks some people not playing because of having to be at Parkside so early that morning in addition to folks who want to play the morning round of the Fish.

If the time's kept where its currently scheduled then the club risks people not playing because they will be at the Fish, regardless of if they're only playing the morning or afternoon round or both.

Sounds kinda rock & hard place to me...

I for one am bowing out of the Safari race anyhow so I suppose my view is fairly impartial.

An all-day safari for you != all-day for someone else...

You're right though... different debate for another day (which I agree with, in principle).

Fine.  Understood.  I might not even play the stinking Fish open

Josh, you're not getting bitter are you?

I'll check to see if I'm spoken for. One week before the Blast, you know!

Sounds like fun! But if I go, I'll be getting a phat tat, baby!

jim

I'd like to second the motion to switch Safari time so that folks could attend both if they want.

I know that's a little early for some people, but that's another choice to be made.

There are 9 in the upper division & 7 in the lower division that can still make 7 events. The same prizes will be paid out. 2 baskets & a ton of discs. I'll be attending the Safari.

I will not be playing both. We haven't made any changes for the 1st 7 Safari Events & I think we should keep it the same for the last 5. These have been scheduled since Dec of 2002.

Safari still happening?  Is it the same 5 people?  Whatever...  be one of the people who will say, "I should have went to that event and got my nipples pierced."

This is a new event that is most likely going to be the funnest wild wierd event of the year...screw safari, just about everyone else has.  Has the payout changed or is everyone still playing for the BIG prize?

Yes, I am harsh.  I always feel inclined to say what I feel, I guess that is why I am called an asshole once in a while....go figure.  Sorry, didn't know the numbers of attendance, just guessed by who posts about it.  If anyone could not figure it out, yes, I am still pissed about the Token Creek safari not being changed.  Really guys, there was 3 area events going on that day and you would not budge on not changing the date or location.

This is not the forum for this chat.  Blast me some where else....I knew Jon would be the first too on my last post..he's funny.

I'm one of the guys that has 0 chance of winning anything in the Safari because I haven't/can't make seven events.  I would be willing to play the Fish Fly if anyone else is going.

As much as I would like to make it to the Fish I agree with Brett. Its been posted this way since the beginning, leave it that way for the end.

I want to be able to play both.  It seems like a bad idea to not switch times.  You are forcing people to make a choice to where you might lose some people playing instead of making sure you get everyone.  If I'm not mistaken, and there's a good chance I am, the argument about switching the Safari was regarding the date not the time.  Yeah 8:30 is early but no earlier than most tournaments, if you ask me, I think 1pm is WAY too late for the Safaris.  It takes up the entire day for some of us.  I'd rather have it earlier as a norm, but that's another topic for another time.  Just giving my .02 and usually I get change back :-)

True we would be forcing people to choose, but when we didn't switch the date of the Safari in the past we were forcing people to choose as well. Time or date its the same thing, changing one event to accomodate another. If people are unhappy with how late in the afternoon a event occurs then its start time should be reconsidered for the next series.

QuoteThose who are planning on playing the Safari have already set the day aside as a day for disc golf.
Not exactly, Safari doesn't take up the whole day.
QuoteThat means making plans around it with family, friends, spouses, significant others, etc.  If we just move it up earlier the other people involved are already expecting you to be gone that day.  It's not like anyone would have to re-arrange thier life for it.
So if my family or anyone elses expects me to be gone in the afternoon, so they plan to do their stuff then and leave their mornings free to spend time with me, how would that not cause them to re-arrange their life around it?

Fact is, this wouldn't be a problem for some people, for others it would. Personally I would like to play both and I don't know if it would be a problem for me or not, but fact is it we have said it was going to start in the afternoon and thats what people have been planning it around, to change it now I don't think is fair to people that can't change plans on a whim.

I agree. If possible I'd love to make it to both.  I think it would be a fun day plus after playing UWP I wouldn't need a warm up round before playing horribly at Dretzka like I usually do :-)

I agree about discussing the start time for next year's safari at a later time.  I do, however, see a huge difference in switching dates vs. switching times.  Those who are planning on playing the Safari have already set the day aside as a day for disc golf.  That means making plans around it with family, friends, spouses, significant others, etc.  If we just move it up earlier the other people involved are already expecting you to be gone that day.  It's not like anyone would have to re-arrange thier life for it.  Moving it to another day would screw me up a lot, moving the time wouldn't.  And I don't care if that means it's in Rockford or Kenosha.  The powers that be will ultimately make the decision so I might as well shut up, I'm just telling you that I would like to play both and there is a way to do it and make everyone who wants to play, happy.  I guess I just don't see what harm would come of it.  But maybe I'm just blind.
