it makes a lot of difference if a player writes down "2,2,2,2,2" instead of the actual "3,3,4,3,5" or whatever he actually threw.
generally called cheating.

oh.

Still, I don't get why that would affect anyone else's *score*, which was the earlier implication.

And as for ratings, aren't they calculated by everyone's score, not just those in your division?

I'm a bit sleep-deprived and cranky today, but the original post just gave the impression of "someone cheated on their score so we may have to throw out everything in Am and Rec...."
thanks,

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

mirth

Its a little further reaching than that....

Also, I believe you have to have a minimum number of scores in a division for it to be used for rating purposes. Jon and/or Bruce can answer that question better than I tho.
Don't forget your towel!

Awsome event, thanks for the good time and great payout.  I won more at this event with 9 players in my division then I did at Standing Rocks with a 2nd place out of 72 players.
Let us hope that the whores of evil no longer loiter on the doorsteps of your path beckoning you into the brothel of despair, and that here and after may present them with the most rigid manistfestation of a firm and manly will.

On the issue of generating PDGA ratings, you need 10 ratings generators [players with eight rated rounds and and an 800+ rating] all playing the same tees during the same shotgun start round.  By my count we had 11 ratings generators.  Those generators will generate ratings for all players who played the same tees at the same time.  If one of those ratings generators cheated on his score and a correct score could not be determined, we'd still have sufficient generators.

Moreover, sometimes when it is close, like nine ratings generators, they will fudge a little just to let players get their rated rounds.  For the Sturgeon my short tee players had only two ratings generators, but we had a lot of players with a lot of rounds who weren't ratings generators because their rating was too low.  The pdga calculated raings anyway.  It looked to me like they got reliable results just by comparing their scores and ratings to scores and ratings from the Kensington Spring Thing.

...and since everyone played the 'same course' in the same round, the division you were in is irrelevant for rating purposes. That was my point earlier

oh, these new smilies are just so doggone cute....

John Bates, the official photographer of the Blast, shot 9 roles of film. I saw them all today and couldn't stop gawking. So many of them are EXCELLENT!
Almost very player was shot, some more than others. There's one of Jay that makes his arm look truly bionic.  There's one of Mirth that makes him look really funny, but not n a bad way. A few good ones of Shawn, Jojo, and others, but the best are of Terry Miller and Chris Heeren.
Go figure.
John is scanning them in and should be giving me the CDs on Monday.
I'll do some Photoshop magic on a few and ask Mirth/Jay to post 'em.

...so did the cheating controversy get resolved? will the scores get rated?

what were the results of the ace race?
thanks,
Damon

Just wanted to thank Jim and everyone else who worked their A$$E$ off to make the Blast a success.

I'm proud to say that my second place finish is the best I've had.

You have a great course down there. Keep up the good work!

thanks serg!  glad you made it!
cheating controversy was not a cheating controversy. just misunderstanding mixed with brainfarts.  all ok.
terry miller won AceRace upper pool, that's all i remember off hand. gotta find scorecards and post 'em.
sorry for the delay, i've been laid up with major back problems and not online much this past week.

also, i received an email from lorrie gibson, brian hoeniger's right hand up on dacotah avenue, which thanked me for the timely td report and that it was one of the best first-timer reports she's seen these many years.  woo-hoo!  no problems with the pdga overlords!

i will get summary of $$$ to officers soon.

The Blast results are on the PDGA Page.

Jim, i've had a few people ask about the pictures & if they were going to be added to the web soon.

yep
i told jay and mirth i'd upload them last week.
i will try to get it done tonight or tomorrow.
sorry for the delay.....

Bruce Brakel

Thanks Jim for reporting it as two 18s.  Maybe we'll get ratings off it.

Ok, if you're reading this and you look at your scores at PDGA.com and see two rounds instead of three don't go asking the PDGA what's up with that.  What's up with that is that we can't get rated off 3 12-hole rounds but can off 2 18-hole rounds.  Either way you played 36 holes and shot the same 36 hole total.   ;)

I think the Blast was 3 weeks after the Midwest Open. Still no results for the Midwest Open, but we have them for the Blast. Thanks for getting those in right away Jim!
72 PDGA TD reports completed and submitted.

;)

thanks. sorry about the delay in coming out wit the financials. i'm not done because i have no patience for doing books right now. basically, we broke even. we may have lost $50 in stolen discs, and the pizza hut deal was only "ok". payouts were on the high side, and i comped several helpful people a few discs, for which i am adding some cash to the pot.

i learned more about running events at this year's blast than all others combined. lots of lessons learned that day. if i run any future events, they'll be done from a different perspective.

Here's the first batch of Blast 2003 photos:

The photo gallery still needs to have its color scheme customized to match the rest of our site, but functionality-wise it's all there.

Check it out!

When are you sharing your workout to get that much definition in forearm area?
