Fox Valley Metro Disc Golf Club is a brand new club based out of the Aurora, IL area (but open to include all Fox Valley area courses). The first club meeting is on November 16th at the Civic Center in front of Eagle Ridge Disc Golf Course in Oswego, at 6:30. (I will post again, if the location changes). Aaron Scott is organizing the meeting. If you have any questions you can email him at cubsfanatic023@aol.com. I will be recording the gathering (and all FVMDGC events) for a documentary.

Everyone is welcome to come help shape the club. It is at its very beginning. So, officers will be chosen, a mission statement will be drafted...we'll go over everything from a new web site, to setting up tournaments, to improving the course design of our local courses, and a lot more.

Food and drinks will be served. We have shirts and bagtags if you interested in that. They also come as part of the membership. But meetings are always open to everyone, not only the members. If you are in the area, and just want to come hear what's happening with disc golf in our area, feel free to stop by. You are always welcome.  :)

is the club going to run pdga santioned events next year?

Fox Metro Discer

Right now as we are just beginnign the club, we have not addressed the issue. As we are having our first meeting next week, this has not been brought up yet. Pending how fast we can get the ball rolling, it is definately a possibility.

We didn't get a chance to get to that this time. But it was a great meeting. 20 people attended. And we'll probably have more next time.

Very positive signs for the first meeting. One thing we agreed to was to meet every 2 weeks instead of every month. The 2 hours went by very fast. It was good to see people from Channahon to West Chicago show up. This thing is open to everyone. If you can make it out sometime, feel free to stop by.

I'll post the next time & place when we get the location booked.

I need to ask a stupid question. Where is this club located? The Fox River Valley is huge although none of it runs thru what I would call a metropolitan area.

Aurora/Oswego is the central location. Jericho Lake & Eagle Ridge are considered our home courses. With a third home course being in the works for sometime next year, in North Aurora.

The next club meeting is tentatively set for December 5th at the Vaughan Athletic Center in Aurora at 7:00 pm. Once that's confirmed, I'll post that information.

http://www.foxvalleyparkdistrict.org/headlines/VAC%20Grand%20opening.html

And there will be an Ice Bowl in January at Jericho Lake. We'll have a meeting to discuss and organize that in the next few weeks. That information will be posted as soon as that gets finalized.

The next club meeting is next Tuesday, December 5th at the Vaughan Athletic Center in Aurora at 7:00 pm. There will be someone (or a sign) at the front directing you where to go once you enter the center.

If you want to bring your discs. We'll have a few baskets and be playing inside the fieldhouse after the meeting.

The address is 2121 West Indian Trail in Aurora.

Another packed house. 25 people at this meeting. And then afterwards, we shot around in the field house, where we set up a few baskets.

Some of the topics from last month were furthered. Officers were elected. We talked about the website, running tournaments, memberships, running clinics for beginning players, and possibly becoming a vendor. And we'll be having second pin placements for all 18 baskets at both Eagle Ridge & Jericho Lake.

Again, with the energy in the room, the 2 hours went by very fast. To those who I've told to check this forum over the last couple months, for updates on Fox Valley Metro Disc Golf Club, we are getting more than my guess of 12 to 15 people per meeting. And these are not boring meetings. A lot of people talk, and the conversations open themselves up to a lot of good discussions.

I'll post information about the next meeting when that gets finalized. It will probably be back at the Vaughn so we can play inside again. If you are in the area, you can come by for the last half hour and hit the fieldhouse with us afterwards. That works too. :cya:

Next meeting is going to be Tuesday January 2nd at Boulder Point Room # 5.  7:00 until 9:00
Boulder Hill Pass and Route 25
It is in the old Pontiac Dealership on Route 25. Across fromthe Marathon station. South of Route 30

Day-after hangovers? Only 16 or 17 people at the latest meeting (I forgot to count). At an officers meeting a couple weeks ago, a $10 initial membership was drawn up...and agreed to at tonight's meeting. Almost everyone bought a membership tonight.

We talked about getting publicity for the Ice Bowl. Finalizing the second pin-placements for Jericho Lake. Running clinics. The website. And setting a meeting schedule which will have us alternating from Boulder Point (Oswego) to the Vaughn (Aurora). Next month is the Vaughn (with the field house to play in afterward).

We're ready for any club challenge after the Ice Bowl. So you name the time and place, and we'll be there.  :frocket:

And lastly, everyone also got a DVD commemorating Eagle Ridge as it went from 9 holes to 18; and it also had a feature on the beginning of the Fox Valley Metro Disc Golf Club. :occasion14:

The Fox Valley Metro Disc Golf Club of IL is just about ready to start taking memberships. The items to be included for membership are currently on order and should arrive in time for the Ice BOwl at Jericho Lake on the 27th of January.

On Thursday night, Tyler Williams emailed the club asking who was up for a bagtag challenge on Sunday (so he could defend his #5 tag). Nearly 20 members showed up at Eagle Ridge for the challenge. (I think it was 18 or 19...or it might have been 20).

This message is for the people I've  told to check this site for information on the club. If you want to play with (or against) the club members (but you can't make it to leagues), this is a good way to do it. It's only $10 for a bagtag/membership.  :spam4: We have a good group of players around here. Everyone shows up when we talk about getting together. I wasn't expecting anywhere near 20; maybe 10 at the most (with the 2-day notice). So, make it out to the next one if you can.

Information will still be posted on the board at Eagle Ridge; but fun challenges like this one was, will be called together through emails...until next month, when our site is up.  :hippy2:

We're having another (Fox Valley Metro) bag tag challenge next Saturday (March 31st). 3:30 at Eagle Ridge in Oswego.

The members will have their tags in play, but this is open to anyone who wants to come out and play a round. No cash or prizes involved. You don't need a tag. You don't have to be a member. We'll just keep everyone's score. And the tags already in play, will be exchanged for bragging rights afterwards.

So if you don't have anything else planned, make it out to Oswego next Saturday, and play a round with the powerful & heroic 2007 DISContinuum Club Challege Champions. :bs:

At the next meeting (at the Vaughan Center in Aurora at 7, Tuesday April 10th) we'll try to set a regular schedule for bag tag challenges.

You can always challenge club members individually too. (I have the #1 tag. Send me a message if you want a shot at it...or if you don't currently have a tag but would like to go a round for cash).
