The Disc Golf Alley Club of Illinois (formerly IDGETTS) is hosting a Singles Disc Golf Tournament on March 3rd, 2007, at Clark Park in Elk Grove Village, IL.

There will be 2 rounds of 20 holes.  One hole will be added to the original 9, so you'll be playing the course 4 times.  The park district will be opening up holes 3-5 for this tournament - they were closed due to construction on the playground.

Players Meeting is at 9:00AM

Entry Fees:

About the Club:
Disc Golf Alley Club of Illinois is a new club in the Illinois area with 2007 as their first full year as a club.  It is an EXCELLENT club to join.  This is the same group that did an awesome job running the 9-Hole Turkey Bowl last year.  I joined the club in January, and I am extremely pleased by all that Eric is doing to not only get more people into the game of disc golf but to give players every opportunity to participate in organized, well-run events.  You don't have to be a club member in order to participate in this particular event.

Please come on out and show your support for this new club!  There are close to 20 members already, and it is growing fast.  Members get to participate in multiple weekly leagues, bag tag challenges, and other club-sponsored events!

I found out from Eric that the added basket will have the tee in between the basket for 8 and the tee for 9 with the basket in the middle of the trees behind the baseball field backstop.  It should be a really interesting hole.

I encourage you to come on out!  It will be a good warmup for the club challenge the following weekend ;)

it sounds frickin awesome, too bad i'll be in arizona   >:(

At least that's not *that* bad of a problem lol.  Get plenty warm, go check out some spring training games (hopefully that's why you're down there), and have a great time!

Just a note, the field maxes out at FORTY (40) players, so make sure to get in pre-registrations!  I wasn't sure if it would be capped at 40 or 50, but with a max of 40 you really want to make sure you reserve your spot!

Look at all the snow melt!  Hopefully it will clear out entirely from the course soon and give the area some time to dry out a little bit just in time for the tournament.

I wanted to let everyone know that along with having paperorplasticsports.com represented at the tournament selling merchandise, I will be teaming up with Eric and begin handling the payouts for everyone at this tournament.  We're trying our best to have an awesome payout for everyone involved!

We're trying to get a better gauge on what divisions will be represented at this tournament, especially in the Pro, Advanced, and women's divisions.  We only need 3 to open the particular division, but I'd appreciate it if you could post, pm, or email me or Eric if you plan on attending this event.

Right now we need 1 more woman to open that division.  I have at least one verbal commitment for advanced, but need to know about some more coming out.  Eric may have heard from somebody, but I haven't heard from anybody about coming out to play pro.

As far as payouts, we're working our best to try to have close to if not more than a 150% payout to all Am divisions.  As part of your entry fee on all divisions, $2 will be donated to the Disc Golf Alley club to cover operating expenses.  For pro, the remainder of the cash is added to the pro purse to be paid out to at least the top 1/3rd of the field.  There will also be a couple donated CTP's for Pro's.  For Am's, we're looking at about a $10 value player pack for women/rec, and a $15 player pack for adv/int.  The exact numbers are not final yet, but that's currently where it stands.  There will be multiple CTP's for all divisions as well as other goodies.

The more people that come out, the better!

We are looking at acquiring a trophy disc for each division, but we need to know who plans on coming out for each division!  INT/REC divisions are already open.

Thanks!

Emily?

lol, I like that, but I think I would have to have "Emily" throw underhand or something to even out that field.  Maybe before each putt you would have to blindfold and spin "Emily" around 6 times lol.

I think Emily usually gets an injury that prevents her from throwing about 1 or 2 holes before the last round ends... :P

Who are the women who are in?

I don't think you would know either one of them... they would play rec if there is no women's division.  Neither one has played in an IOS before.

Hey, its non-sanctioned, you can do whatever you want. Change it from Irish to Scottish and everybody can wears Kilts and Emily might go unnoticed.

I was hoping to come and play beautiful and spacious Clark Park but will be otherwise engaged.  Have fun guys (and gals).

Just curious, why are you only opening the division if you have 3 players? Is it to pay for a trophy?

Good question.  There will be a trophy disc for each division except pro (just confirmed that today), but I guess it's more for payout sake.  If there's one player, you already know where you're going to place and how much you're going to get back.  Maybe we could do it with two, but when you try to split the divisions up on the playing field so that it's not mixed divisions on the same card, I'd rather just have people play a different division.  We're also trying to do this very similar to the rules of a PDGA-sanctioned tournament except this tournament will not have the sanctioning.

PDGA rules don't require a minimum number of players for the TD to offer the division.  Unless it is in the new rules for 2007 that we're all pretending don't exist.

Then I stand corrected and I apologize.  I don't know why I thought that it was.  I think I confused myself because I remember you (Bruce) always mentioning that you won't make a trophy for a disc unless there are pre-registered people for that division.  Where I got the 3-person thing I don't know.  I don't even want to run into the situation with not even 3 people for a division, so all of you have to come out and play ;)  It's really more for preventing mixed division cards and allowing legitimate payout to that division.

Scott-

These are probably the rules that you might have derived your minimum from.

Official Rules
804.06.C Groups shall not be less than three players, except under extenuating circumstances,...

Competition Manual:
2.2.I A Tournament Director may, by giving adequate public notice, restrict the divisions offered. Absent such notice, the director shall offer for competition any division which has four or more players that are eligible and wishing to compete. Tournament Directors may offer divisions with less than four players at their discretion.
