Attached is the flyer for the 2007 DISContinuum Club Challenge this is a pdf.  This is one page and has the contact information on the bottom of the flyer. Check the next post for the word document.  Scoring rules will be similar to cross country scoring. Please see next post for word document.

Here is the word document. Scoring details are in the next post.  All local club players are welcome. If you aren't in a club, join a club and come out and play.  The DISContinuum Disc Golf Club provides many great benefits including this great site.  Join up for $15.00 and get a great bag tag, meet new friends and play in club-affiliated events.

There are going to be two divisions. Open/Advanced and Intermediate/Recreational.  Two rounds of 20 holes. Doubles in the morning and singles in the afternoon.  If you are rated 915 or over you must play Open/Advanced even if your partner is less than 915.  Scoring will be similar to high school cross country or golf events and is as follows:

The best three or four scores will count towards club points. If there are clubs A, B, C, and D, lets say the order of the finish is, A,B, B, C, D, D, A, A, A, A B, C, C, D, etc.

Club A gets 12, 6, 5 = 23 points
Club B gets 11, 10, 4, = 25 points
Club C gets 9, 3, 2 = 14 points
Club D gets 8, 7, 1 = 16 points

Even thought the fourth best player on the A club beat the four best players on the other clubs, that person is not included once the top three scores are counted for that club. If there are ties then the points are split evenly.

Depending on the number of teams we get, we will count the top three or four scores.  If there are cali players we will try and accomodate them with partners, but their scores will not count towards doubles.

If you are interested in playing and/or have any questions please send me a personal message.

Thanks.

You might want to use colored sticker dots or colored stars [or both] on the cards to make it easier to tell who is on what team.

Great Idea.  Thanks.

Sorry to butt in, but your example isn't quite right. The scores should look like this:

Team A
1, 7, 8 = 16 points

Team B
2, 3, 9 = 14 points

Team C
4, 10, 11 = 25 points

Team D
5, 6, 12 = 23 points

The only reason I point this out is because the team with the lowest point total wins, so the finish order would be Team B, Team A, Team D, Team C. I was working under the assumption that there were no ties (always tricky because there are always ties in disc golf), that you counted only the top 3 scores, and that the 4th and 5th place finishers on Team A were not included in the scoring to puch the other teams' scores higher.

Again, I'm sorry if this post comes across like I'm a know-it-all jerk (lord knows there are enough of them on disc golf mesage boards as it is). I ran cross country throughout high school and college so I'm familiar with how it is scored and why it is the only sport that is scored that way.

I think that as long as you have a system that can be consistently applied you won't have a problem. I noticed that you said scoring would be similar to high school golf events as well, and I really think it's a good idea to just go with the golf scoring system and forget about cross country altogether. That way you won't have to deal with the headaches that would be created if Team A should win with one scoring format but Team B should win with another.

Ok, sorry for the long-winded post. I tried to make everything as clear as possible, but please PM me if you have any questions. I wish I could play in this event, but playing disc golf in 2 feet of snow in Minnesota the same weekend just sounds like too much fun! I hope everything runs smoothly. It's great to see some team events popping up now and again!

Are we using the non-official ratings for non-PDGA members who played the IOS last year?

That is the plan.  Aaron also has some ratings worked out for the Fox Valley contingent.

If anyone is interested in partnering for this, drop me a line.

How many people are going so far?

I was thining about plugging this at the tourney on Saturday, and just wanted to make sure there are still spots open.

Please note:  You do not need a partner to attend. As long as you are affiliated with a club, we will try and match you up with a partner.  There are still plenty of spots open based on the feedback I have received.

Please note:  Due to unplayable conditions at Jericho Park (many holes under water) the tournament has been moved to Eagle Ridge in Oswego. Here are the directions: Rte. 88 to Rte. 59 south 3.5 miles, to a right on Rte. 34 (Odgen Ave.), 9.5 miles to a right on Rte. 25 (S. Madison St.), 0.7 miles to a right on Glendale Ave., 0.1 miles to a left on Ashlawn Ave., 0.5 miles to the park on left. Follow path over railroad tracks to course. All times remain the same. If you are a DISContinuum Member and plan on attending please contract Brett or I.  Thanks.

Fox Metro Discer

Also, there is a park on Rte. 25 called Violet Patch Park that is directly below the course as well. This is where I am currently looking at having tournament central. With pavilions, bathrooms, picnic tables and a grill, this appears to be the best location.
To get there, follow the directions in the previous post except, rather than turning at Glendale Ave, stay on Route 25 for the .5 miles and the park will be on your left.

Also, if you would rather take an alternate route (a few less lights and higher speed limit):
Take I-88 to Orchard Rd South, Left at Rte 30 (east)1.5 miles, right on Briarcliff rd (1st lights after bridge), follow to end of rd, (there is a gas station at the bottom of the hill if you take a right rather than a left) left on Boulder Hill Pass for .25 miles to a right on Circle Drive West (there will be a sign for the Civic Center) follow to Ashlawn Ave, turn right (you will see the Civic Center at the intersection). Park is on the right immediately following the Civic Center. Follow bike path across the tracks.
