Back to the point, I hope you guys who keep chirping about how great Wrecks Grossman is, are right.

I heard this morning that Vegas is going to start taking bets on individual players' stats, like over/under 113 yards for LT when he plays Tennessee, and such. Anybody want to bet on what Wrecks' Passer Rating will be any week this season?

Beeeeeyooteefull night for a game!

Maybe he was visiting sick children at the hospital and is so humble he doesn't want anyone knowing it.

::)

And Rodman was just cleaning his gun in the Pistons parking lot at 3am...Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!!!!!!!!!!!  >:D   ;D

Rodman was cleaning Lance's gun?? Whoa, I guess that's a liason you wouldn't want public....    :icon_joker:

Perhaps you just need to go back to English class.  :police: (<---English Police!) The "his" in my sentance was properly referring to Rodman. The word "his" always refers to the last male that was named last. My reference was that if you believe that Lance was "visiting sick children" then you'd also believe that when Rodman was found in the Pistons parking lot at 3am after a game night with a loaded shotgun in his lap, that he was "just cleaning his gun" and had no intention of eating some lead.

Forcing the english police on someone and spelling sentence wrong.  Excellent.

Aneewon hoo can't find at leest too wayz to spell a werd just arr not very emaginative!

After seeing Grossman take that hit near the beginning of the game I thought for sure you would see his name come up on an injury list with a concussion or something.  My word that was a big hit on him.  I don't know if that would have been a blessing or a curse that he wasn't hurt as a result of that play!

With Harris and Brown both injured, this defense is weakened severely.  I still think if we could atleast play some ball control we can stay in games and have a chance to win against almost any team.  The problem is Grossman is not going to be a ball control QB any time soon.  Our WR's suck as well.  The most significant change we can make at this point is replacing Rex, so I'd give Rex another game or 2 or else bring in Griese.

Griese is obviously not a savior, but its worth a shot to put in somebody who might be able to to move the ball a little and not turn it over 3 times a game.  It'd be nice for the defense to not constanty have a short field to defend.

I was listening to some post game coverage on ESPN radio last night (although I may have still been listening to WBBM before switching over), but a caller asked the radio hosts if they felt that Orton would be a good choice to put in as QB because he shows better ball control.  I just had to chuckle at that because I don't know how Orton would be any better than Grossman out there.  Unless you like endless sideways passes for little to no gain, Orton benefitted greatly from a defense that kept getting turnovers and was keeping the field short for the offense.  With the ugly turnover ratio that the Bears have, I don't see how Orton would be an answer at all.

There was speculation that Grossman and Griese will each get an equal number of snaps this week in practice... will be interesting to see what happens.

Grossman is getting the Corey Patterson treatment... it's brutal.

The Bears are definitely in trouble.

Plain & simple. Run the f'ing ball! We gave up a proven RB for absolutely nothing!

Thomas Jones
2006   1,201 yds 4.1 avg 6 tds
2005   1,335yds  4.3 avg 9 tds

Cedric Benson
2007 189 yds 3.2 avg 1 td.
In the 2 losses he's run for 42 & 46 yards with an avg of 2.2 & 2.9. I don't care who we put at QB. If we can't run the ball we aren't going to win.

I agree completely. I had a feeling that trading a proven, producing back for one they put money into would come back to haunt them. If they kept Jones around they could've had Benson as his backup and he mighta learned how to hold onto the ball. Core Bears football is great D & the Run. Superbowl loser jinx? They don't seem to have anything working right now and with the injuries on defense, we might all be playing more Sunday doubles rather than watching the games.

Everybody is pining for Jones, yet he is only averaging 3.5 yards per carry, and Benson is at 3.2.  Jones also has a fumble this year.  Benson has only fumbled 3 times in his career, so it's possible that he won't have many more to finish off the year.  I don't think Benson is the whole problem with running the ball, it seems like he has no run blocking, and the play calling has been horrible and predictable.

As for Griese replacing Grossman, he will throw INT's too.  I don't think Griese is the answer to anyones question, he's been in the league for what? 10 years? and started probably 5-7 of those, and he has never taken a team to the playoffs.  Granted with this D, the QB doesn't have to be anything special, but the Bears will never win a Super Bowl just trying to avoid mistakes on offense.  The offense needs to be opened back up for Grossman so he can go back to the deep ball, which will open up the running game.  And our receivers need to stop quitting on their routes, or just plain dropping the ball.  It seems now that Rex is scared to make mistakes, he is making more.  Just let him go out there and play his game, since that's the only way this team will succeed.  But if they do decide to pull Rex, I can't argue, since he has been pretty bad at times.

As for Injuries, Harris will probably be fine, as he was just kicked, but if Briggs and Vasher miss any time, that would hurt a lot, as it would if Ruben Brown misses time.  You think the Line has been bad so far, the Bears have no backups on that offensive line that are capable of starting in the NFL.

Jon Brakel

I think if we had a better quarterback, he'd be in the game by now. The coaches all watch the practices and preseason and then they put their best team on the field.

I also think it was a mistake to trade Jones. I was really pissed off about that when it happened. I think Jones/Benson made a great team of running backs. If Jones wasn't working or was tired they'd put Benson in. They have such different running styles that I think it helped keep the defense off balance a little.

The deep ball is not going to save this offense. Their OL is not good enough to hold off the rush for the deep ball most of the time. I think they would do better with putting in some quick timing routes that would give the OL a little break rather than the long throws where they have to hold their blocks longer.

Injuries suck. Good teams win anyway. I watch no matter how bad they are!

I'd still take Grossman over Orton.  No question.  Though, I would really like to see Griese given a shot.

Peyton Manning wouldn't be lighting it up right now if he was running the Bears offense.  Its brutal at every position.  Having Thomas Jones would be making zero difference right now.  With the lack of talent we have on offense, we need to play it as conservative as possible.  Run the ball and don't turn it over.  Grossman has proven he can't do this, so give somebody else a shot.  We aren't going to dominate teams, so we just need to try to stay in them as long as possible and try to steal wins with defensive turnovers or kick returns.

I hear what you're saying. I just don't think that either of the other quarterbacks is going to be any better. We may find out soon though...

This is exactly why they NEED Thomas Jones

when I went to spring training, orton looked really good, better then Griese.  I say give them both a shot. Treat this next game against the lions as a full tilt pre-season game and have them each play a quarter. The better of the three plays the 4th qtr.

Sorry, I meant to say it was a blessing that Grossman was not hurt.

This seems like a panic move.  Until yesterday Grossman seemed in no danger of loosing his job.  Griese is no savior.  I hope this is just a short experiment designed to shake Rex out of his funk, because he is the ONLY real option the Bears have at Quarterback.

Arguing Jones and Benson is not really the point.  Don't you need depth?  Don't you need more than one quality back?  What did we get for Jones?  Nothing, that what we got.  It was a bad front office move, plain and simple.

Its a long season, and we are in better shape than New Orleans.   A lot of people picked Chicago-New Orleans as the favorites in the NFC.  It's funny how a few weeks can change things.

airspuds

if benson doesnt fumble on 2nd and 2 , its a whole different game
the momentum changed right then and there
even if hes stopped and on third down they dont get it and punt
its  still a different game

the recievers have been dogging it on several plays
the line hasnt seemed to bad but has had its moments

take the handcuffs off and let the REX man play

look at the list of former bear QB's and tell me who is/was better

Jim Miller before he was body slammed by Hugh Douglas
then  maybe Erik Kramer then McMahon

Id rather see Orton than Griese but

LET THE REX MAN PLAY
