Lots of work has been done in the past few months, but there remains plenty to do. Our main project right now is constructing and installing the stair modules. Volunteers are always needed and appreciated! Call me, PM me, or post here if you're available to help, even if it's only for an hour  I'll talk to 008 tonight, as he's been the project coordinator throughout, and I'll post more info tomorrow.

We'll be working this Saturday from 7 AM to 5 PM. We're hoping for good weather so that we can finish the first staircase. The usual crew of Steve Matul, Roy Carey, Gary, and myself will be there bright and early, and we're expecting a few others to show up throughout the day. The more help we get, the sooner the baskets will go in.

Any updates on this course? Are you still looking for volunteer help?

Still looking for an update, does anybody have this guys phone number?  I have got a few guys that would be willing to come out and volunteer some help to get these baskets in quicker, we all are very local.

as i understand it this is not a matter of needing people to put in baskets, like most projects everyone volunteeers to put in baskets but more help is needed to put in stairs and other work. I would advise calling gary lewis, steve matul or roy carey for more information.

Just wanted to post and say that the work on this course has reached the final stages. An extraordinary amount of work has been done by Steve Matul and Roy Carey (approx 1500 hours for each). Mike Vargo and Gary Lewis have been huge in getting supplies and working with the park district. Lots of golfers, including Ryan Gremillion, Shawn Harmon, Jason Poole, Frank Grimes, Jimmy Kloep, and Jason Rose, have had a part in the construction. I'm sure there I've left someone off, and I know there will be more to thank before the work is finished, but if you see these guys at a course, tell them "Thanks!"

Now to the really exciting part, we played the blue (long) tees at league here last night. I was pumped to finally throw a disc after working here for 8 months. The course looked great. The park district came through and mowed the few fairways with tall grass. I've been coming to this park since I was a kid and I don't think it's ever looked as beautiful as it did last night. The winning score was -5, and there were three -4s. It will be interesting to see how the scores broke down, but off the top of my head, I'll say there are three par 4s, some tricky par 3s, and a lot of other holes that are just really cool. I'll post again when the baskets are going in.

I also played there Wednesday and this course is well worth the drive down to J town.   Played the blue tees and can't wait until the baskets are installed.   Gary Lewis said the old West Park Mach I baskets are going in, but need some weldong and re-galvanizing first. Hope they install inner chains too   Awesome park with huge trees,  elevation shots,  great grass areas for rollers too.    Only concern is the neighborhood; saw/heard several cars with the 26" wheels and giant subwoofers cruising the park so hope it doesn;t turn into another Lockport where all the hard work is done by he volunteers and then the baskets get stolen.

Does the fact that Kurt has it on the map now make this in the ground or are we still waiting on official word?

can't putt

Sorry, baskets are not yet in.  As indicated above, the baskets are being repaired.  Word on the street is perhaps another month.

Cool, as I stated in the Anticoh thread, I'd like to throw at new local baskets that are designed by someone who plays disc golf

Fox Metro Discer

from what I hear the baskets going in at Highland are the old ones from when West Park was worked on, they are being re galvanized or something like that.

Spoke with Gary Saturday at Woodridge; he is doing all the work and said it would probably be another 2 weeks before the baskets are rewelded, galvanized and ready to go in.  Stay tuned and will post when the course is opne for play.

I can't wait to play this course.  Although, after seeing the poison ivy on some of the guys who played the Joliet League there, I'm a little nervous.  I guess stay in the fairway and wear pants.

Thanks to everyone who has worked on HP.

Vibram Disc Golf, Ledgestone Insurance, Paragon and Whirld Sports are all cool. Real cool.

use your offhand to pick up the disc too, or wear gloves!
