Clash-Renny Gold DVD

Features
Climo, Feldberg, Doss vs Schultz, Schweberger, & Gill
Format-Triples

This DVD was shot at Renaissance Park (Renny Gold)  in Charlotte North Carolina.  This course is sick. During the DVD they also feature the Charlotte area courses. Tons of good disc golf courses. WOW!

The footage was pretty good. Most of the footage was shot behind the players. I would have like to seen more angles shot but for the most part the footage was good. They barely got a sweet upshot  that went in. Great reaction when it did.  Very good explanation of shots and the course. Player cam was cool. Billy Crump does a really good job on commentary.

Overall this is a very good DVD.

I just got a shipment in.

They retail for $9.99 on Zone Driven.  By the time you pay for shipping they said it should be $13 and change?  I will be selling them for $13.

I viewed this video today.  For the $13 or so dollars it cost it is certainly a great video.  Heck, I think it would be worth the standard $20 even.

As Brett said, they do a great job of showing other area courses and they really make a compelling case for you to take a road trip or vacation down the the Charlotte area.  They also had great graphics of each hole before they played it.  The golf they shot was very impressive.  I bet if we all had played it once before seeing the video we'd probably be even more impressed.  These guys struggle on a few holes and they are some of the best players in the world.

There was at least 90 minutes worth of footage if not more so you get your money worth!

I gave away one at the Cold Turkey event and roughly 8 to 10 other copies were sold.  Everyone should post their opinions on here once they view it.

It is really hard for me to not talk about every hole as they shoot on this dvd....  I really miss these courses..

awesome dvd...

anyone up for a roadtrip?
Let us hope that the whores of evil no longer loiter on the doorsteps of your path beckoning you into the brothel of despair, and that here and after may present them with the most rigid manistfestation of a firm and manly will.

Well worth the $13.00. I am looking forward to seeing more titles in this series.  Timmy Gill's play was outstanding.  The other area courses that are shown are great. There are some really nice holes on the Renny Gold course, tons of thought and effort went into this course.

A four star disc golf video.

We couldn't dare spoil it for everyone!  You'll just have to get your hands on a DVD and find out.  It was a good battle, that's for sure.

Definitely a good buy...and for the price it's that much better.

I like to see videos that you can learn/see what types of discs are being thrown. You get a good sense of decision-making and the thought process of a professional as well.

I look forward to some of the others that are on the editing table:

"Renny Gold is known as one of the hardest courses in the world. On this 2hour DVD, watch David Feldberg, Nate Doss and Ken Climo team up to battle Barry Schultz, Timmy Gill and Brian Schweberger in a best shot triples match. They make the course look EASY!

The next DVD in the series is the Clash at Waterworks (KC MO), featuring Steve Brinster, Ken Climo, Avery Jenkins and Eric McCabe playing match play. Look for this dvd in your Christmas stocking.

By spring, you will be able to purchase the third Clash DVD, held at Valarta Ast/ Token Creek in Madison Wisconsin. Ken Climo and Barry Schultz vs Chris Herron and Keith Warren vs Scott Papa and Joe Mela playing best shot doubles.

The 4th in the series was shot at the USDGC Withrop Gold Course. Climo and Nate Doss vs Markus Kallstrom and Barry Schultz vs David Feldberg and Avery Jenkins. Look for this one summer 2008.

The more DVD's you buy, the more the crew can step up the quality and production to please you even more. Thanks for the support."

Heck, me too!

I have been very patient with my good friends over at Disc Golf TV and simply put ... it's taking them forever to get this done.

I hope everyone across the country realizes this is something that is way beyond any control I had as a TD.  My biggest mistake was putting a date on it.  I really wish I would have just said that you would see it sometime.

The latest update (which was yesterday) includes:  Disc Golf TV just picked up the copies from the duplicator the other day.  They also received mailing labels for every player from the PDGA.  Now...they have to simply put the DVD into the mailers, attach the labels, and attach some postage.  You could see yours tomorrow or it could be another week or two.  I hate to even guess anymore because as I said before, its completely out of my hands (and has been all along).

By the way, I'm not writing this in angst or aggression - just bringing everyone up to speed and it's hard to write a response like this without seeming defensive or aggressive.

They should be on their way any day now!

Now to comment on Serg (and somewhat Tom as well)

The info Serg posted was everything I've heard and known all along as well.  I do speak with Timmy and Alan often and I also speak with Billy Crump quite a bit.

The long and short of these comes down to support.  Billy has been very concerned about keeping them inexpensive with the hopes that everyone will buy a copy for themselves instead of sharing or duplicating them.  Now I know that isn't necessarily reality but that's what he is hoping for.  He says this because if he sells all of the copies from his first DVD, he can continue to produce additional ones.  If 200 copies of it are sold but 2,000 have scene it, he won't have the funds to keep making the rest of the series.

I had the pleasure of being part of the Vallarta-Ast taping.  Doing commentary for 5 guys that I know pretty well was a great wind-down after a week of Am Worlds and a week of Pro Worlds (I don't know Joe Mela that well but I came to find out that he is an awesome guy).

Anyway - just thought I'd post what I know.  It is a great concept and I wish Billy and everyone else the best of luck with it.  The more we support it, the more you'll see them happen.

I purchased my copy yesterday and am anxious to see what everyone is talking about.  If it's as good as everyone says it is I can't wait for the others in the series. Now it just needs to arrive.  The price was awesome on ZoneDriven $9.99 for a well made DVD, that's almost Wal-Mart Prices.  Can't complain there.

Sweet DVD...I really enjoyed the Michael Jo parts.  Will the other DVD's showcase the other area 'Clash' courses?  That would be awesome.

SIUFrolf

I was able to watch half of the DVD before I had to go til work, but from what I've seen I really enjoy.  The Schultz shot was sick!  I would really like it if they had a camera guy at the landing areas for most of the holes though.  Like some people have said it's neat to watch them throw but the times that they had someone down the fairway it made the shot look AMAZING!!!  I know some of the holes are wooded and short so putting someone at a point to get the right shot without being in the way or not seeing a kickout off a tree.  Overall I would give it a 4.5 and can't wait for the others.

Got my CLASH DVD yesterday.Overall its a good video, the courses look awsome .I can see why the Carolinas produce such good players.I am truly jealous of their courses, also does Michael Jo ever have a bad shot because I didnt see any.

SIUFrolf

he's a really good golfer, but being a television production major, I am skeptical that they were all first throws.  They probably had him throw until he hit the suggested route. for other players.  But again, it's my educational learning to think about the different shots needed to make it look seemless.

Paid for mine today, can't wait to get it. Haven't heard this much buzz about a DVD since the MSDGC

stpitner

I wouldn't be surprised if the footage at the end was all first shots since they kept the one shot where he chained out.  If you listen closely when they show off the other courses, however, that "this is the first take folks, I asked him to put it in and watch what he does", something like that.  Then he goes into briefly talking about how they take multiple shots.

At the same time, I also wouldn't be surprised if the footage at the end wasn't all first take shots either.  I'm indifferent either way.  It's cool to see him take those routes though.  Some those are really tough shots!

I finished watching the entire thing last night.  I was getting sick of the player cam on one of those holes, somewhere near the middle.  It was giving me motion sickness because he was just free swinging with the camera.  It was whatever hole where it was their second shot by the road and most of them had to do a side-arm spike looking shot.

In general I wasn't too fond of the player cam, but I like that they had it available.  There would have been a lot of holes without that extra footage.

And was it just me, or did it feel like as the holes went on the amount of footage got shorter and shorter?  It was a little weird, but it definitely wouldn't stop me from picking up another Clash video in the future :)
