Both Taylor and Matt Travis have said that they were going for the Advanced Points Title this year.  Is one of them going to take the lead at the next ratings update?  Right now Taylor leads 525 to 285.  The top Advanced player is currently at 1933.  These guys have some work to do.

Tom McManus

There are some points to be taken at the CAC. Is it going to be a local who takes Advanced? Who will be the CAC King?

Let's not forget Bowling Green. The first update truly only included Memorial. May 19 will paint a different picture.

Are you both in for Am Nationals?  The three can't miss tournaments in any men's amateur points run are Bowling green, Am Worlds and Am Nats.  I won the 2008 Am Master obelisk from playing those three tournaments.

That Bryan Johnson from St. Louis might be tough to beat if he keeps playing AM all year.

Good luck, Taylor and Matt.
Vibram Disc Golf, Ledgestone Insurance, Paragon and Whirld Sports are all cool. Real cool.

After Bowling Green:

Rock on guys!  Hopefully with the IOS and my events there will be lots of points to be had close to home.  The IOS are all Am-B tiers, the same is likewise for events where I'm TD.  That's 10 events in Illinois right there if you hit them all!

Tom McManus is just decimating the highly competitive Advanced Grandmasters tour.  Nice work Tom, I think you have this obelisk wrapped up.

Being old enough and bad enough to play in 4 different divisions is a distinct competitive advantage.  It also helps having a bunch of great TDs around this area.

After Taylor put a beatdown on Matt at the CAC, he has unofficially stretched his lead.
Taylor    2315
Matt       1905

Someone has got some work to do. 400 Points can be made up in a weekend, but it is going to take some big events with good scores to do it.

After CCR the unofficial totals:

Taylor Cimala  2685
Matt Travis     1850

I'm not competing for an obelisk this year.  Next year I hope to go half-in for the obelisk.  Which is to say I'm going to take my best shot, with the exception of playing Grandmaster at Am Worlds.  It is a shame that you have to choose between playing for a World Championship or playing for an age-based obelisk, but that's how the point system works.  I won the Am Master obelisk for 2008 because Mark Roberts and Tim Weimer decided to play for an Am Master World Championship.

It won't be as high this year due to the changes in the divisional structure and more people playing where they actually should be.

Sprained my ankle this weekend canoing :(

You'll get over it, but it might start hurting again when you're fifty.  I'm icing my ankles right now.

There is a excellent race shaping up for points. It is great to see 3 club members in the top four spots for AM Open.  I don't know if all three guys are going to continue to play AM through the rest of the year, but it looks like in order to be the points winner, the individual will have to continue to do so.

Taylor Cimala      5155
Justin Atwater-Taylor     4903
Matt Travis                4765
David Nelson    4538

With all four players registered for Worlds, it is wide open.

Tom McManus

The points for worlds have been posted.  Five of the top ten AM points leaders are from Illinois.  This says a couple of things, Illinois players are willing to travel, we have some very good players, and we have some great TDs who are willing to run events. Thanks to all the local TDs who run events There is a lot of disc golf to be played good luck to all the Illinois players.
