Were only playing 18 holes at the winter league yeah, but the Ice Bowl is three rounds of 9 holes..... 1-9, 10-18, 19-27.

 What are the rules concerning lost discs?  ie: when the snow is deep, I tape a piece of red thin ribbon to the bottom of the disc so I can still find it when it goes under the snow, will we be able to do that, and if not, what will the time limit be for lost discs?

Would you want to change my charity mulligans idea into an Ice Bowl? I'd be willing to consider running the Bevier Ice Bowl with a little help from some club members.

How about the first weekend in January? We could call it the Tournament of Roses. Or if that name is taken, we could call it the Phoney Plastic Ice Bowl Just Down the Street. Bring your own partner doubles format. Whimps and Whiners invited and welcome! Would we still like to sell mulligans to benefit the charity? I suggest a payout of cash for pros and prizes for ams. I can get plenty of merch there for the tournament at reasonable prices. The difference between the wholesale cost of prizes and the retail value of the prize can then be donated to the charity.



Anyone have any thoughts on these ideas?

I am in the process of writing a more formal proposal for our Ice Bowl, but I wanted to share some of what I am thinking about.



#1 criteria for me is that it be fun!!! I am thinking a low entry fee, hi-lo random doubles format with some interesting doubles games played besides best shot.



I don't think we'd have enough daylight to run the tournament after league. We wouldn't be able to tee off untill at least 2pm. When we teed off at the Steady Ed glow at Parkside at about 2pm, we finished the first round in the dark and that was only 18 holes. I was thinking we'd play at least 27. I want to include everyone, but I think it would be logistically difficult to run the tournament on a sunday. Saturday would be better, in my opinion. I want to run the tournament during the "Ice Bowl Corridor" which is January 11th thru February 17th, but I don't want to run it the same weekend as Dretzka's Ice Bowl.



They bill their Ice Bowl as the "real" Ice Bowl. We should bill ours as the FUN Ice Bowl!!

Two more thoughts:



We should think about a food related charity. I like the idea of the person who brings the most food wins a prize (probably a ColorMax Ice Bowl disc).



Second, no matter what charity we choose, I think all the money raised after expenses should go to it. If we sell mulligans that money should go to the charity as well. That's what this event is about.



I have some ideas about how to raise money for our baskets, but these efforts should be separate from the Ice Bowl.

I'm really excited about running this tournament, Bevier's 1st Ice Bowl, and know that we'll all have a great time! The focus on this tournament is going to FUN no matter what the weather, so BRING IT ON Mother Nature!!!

As Ice Bowl TD I am allowing the affixing of ribbons to the bottom of discs for the Ice Bowl. I suggest using Household Goo, but tape is also a viable option. Although affixing ribbons to the bottom of discs is not specifically endorsed by the PDGA, I know of at least one former PDGA Competition Director who endorsed its use for his local league. That's a good enough pedigree for me.

Sometime before or after league we can have a household goo "party" and we can goo up whoever's discs want to get gooed. I have a toob and its probably enough goo to goo a couple hundred discs.

Our Ice Bowl is registered and I have the official Ice Bowl logo. I got the logos you sent me. I didn't have access to the computer that has all this stuff over the thanksgiving weekend, and now that I do, I have toncilitus. But I'm on antibiotics and should be able to finish it up tomorrow. We're still waiting on a facilities availability from Waukegan parks?
