Forgot to mention, when I talked to Roy Bazan last weekend he said he thought this was going to be open on the last weekend in July (he said 7/23, but I figured he meant the weekend)

Once it IS open I'll post pictures

You are correct. Joliet doubles is playing there on that day and they are asking for everyones baskets. Nice course!

I just played this course (the medium/white tees) this past Wednesday for J-Town leagues.  This course is, in my opinion, far and away the nicest course in all of the Chicago area, by far.  When the holes are in the ground I will drive the 40 or so minutes to get to this course multiple times per week to play it.  In the past I have had no references in the Chicago area to give people when describing the wonderful disc golf goodness that exists east of here (or north or south or west, but especially east).  The white tees here may not be a truly great 18 holes but the blue/long tees will impress even the most jaded chicago disc golfer.  I would estimate a 1000 rated round from the white tees to be about a 7 down with a 1000 rated round from the blue being close to a 51/52.  There are at least two true par 4s from the blue tees and maybe even three (Off the top of my head holes 4 (about 550 ft), 9 (about 650 ft.) , and 11 (around 575 ft).  As soon as the baskets are in it will be worth the while of every disc golfer in the area to come play this course.  I would compare it favorably in terms of difficulty to Brown Deer or Token Creek in Milwaukee and Madison, respectively.  This is the kind of course we have needed in the Chicago area for far too long.  This is a championship caliber course.  When my disc golfing friends come to visit Chicago in the future I will now have a course to take them to and impress them.  A hearty thanks is due to all of the people responsible for this fantastic course (everyone from Steve and the J-Town players on down).  When the baskets are finally in (hopefully in the next couple weeks) you NEED to play this course.

west park is the best
disc technology shorten the couse but it still is one of my fav's

and sheps being a couple minutes away also keeps it at the top of the list

It wouldn't be recommended while they are still working on it. Some of the tees are still being worked on and I'm sure they would prefer that it remains empty while they put the finishing touches on. Also, if anyone goes out there to check it out, beware of skunks on hole 8. A skunk has decided to have its babies in the hole for the basket, so I'm sure she would be very protective. We were scared to go too close during doubles. Hopefully they will be done with this course soon.

Channy trumps West, and unless Sheps has great food it shouldn't be a consideration

That being said, I'm really looking forward to trying Highland out & seeing how great it is

is highlands baskets being set this weekend?

Just talked to someone up in Joliet, they said everything is in place....EXCEPT the baskets.

I'm hoping to catch a round up there Saturday before 'Nothin but Chains'
Vibram Disc Golf, Ledgestone Insurance, Paragon and Whirld Sports are all cool. Real cool.

Mukey

the word is NO, or at least 6 more to go per gossip in Joliet today

dgnickster9224

ya i talked to mike. he said 4 to 6 baskets per week.

The baskets are still the hold up and will likely take a few more weeks.  The J-town doubles scheduled for Aug 20th at Highland has been changed to Channahon.   Looking like late Aug at this point
