Can't believe I started this thread almost a year ago and we thought we would have baskets in the ground December '07

Anyone been out there recently or know the status? I was hoping for a new course close this year but...

Lurbs

:(  I was out there this weekend and there were still no baskets.

El Mexicano

Man it's like waiting for Santa to come.

I hear the only thing holding the course up is that they are waiting on the poles to be galvanized (sp).

Al H. had the (brilliant) idea that they should just purchase new poles at 20-25 a pop instead of waiting (till next April) for old ones to be galvanized.
Vibram Disc Golf, Ledgestone Insurance, Paragon and Whirld Sports are all cool. Real cool.

El Mexicano

Will this course be ready by Joliet Pro Championships?

I would like to know the same thing....

Last I heard it was going to be in the ground in time for Illinois State Championships.

If they wanted to accept donations or something like that and maybe put a "Pin Donated By" sign up, I'd be down to pony up some loot

Illinois State Championships?

I would also be glad to donate to the cause. All for a good cause, get a Championship caliber course in Chicagoland!

I think that he's talking about the Joliet Pro Championships on Oct 25th-26th that Jason Rose is running.

No, I can remember over the summer hearing that they were running IL States at Highland.

Also, talked with a few Joliet guys yesterday and its sounding like the course will definately be playable before Joliet Pros.

Joliet Pros are in 5 weeks, it'll be here quick.

Jesse posted about the Joliet doubles party here on 10/18, but however still said to bring baskets, so I assume it won't be in the ground by then. I'll probably go & take course pics as long as it's not a gray day.

Gary has said that this is all he is working on at this point. He told us there is a strong possibility the baskets will be in for the picnic, but he couldn't give a guarantee. This is why it says until further notice. If we are told the baskets will be in, a new notice will go out saying baskets won't be needed.

Thanks for the update Jason!

If you know what days they're working out there let me know & I'd be happy to assist

I'll bring my work gloves, at least there won't be any chance of someone playing the hole while we're putting the basket in

deucemeister

I'll also be there !!   Can't wait to get back over there and play;  the only bad part for the J-town doubles event is all those leaves from all those trees will be hiding all those discs.......At the last doubles tourney, folks were spending a lot of time off searching for errant throws when there were no leaves on the ground.  We'll need to have spotters on a lot of holes; bring bright colored plastic !!

I talked to Gary Lewis tonight and if everything goes as planned and he gets the baskets back from getting galvanized we will be installing the baskets on Saturday October 11th.  So if you or anyone you know is interested in helping install the baskets we will be at Highland Park this Saturday.
