All 18 baskets are now installed as of yesterday; course is closed  today (Sunday)  to let the concrete sit for a day; open for play starting Monday.  Some of the pro tees might be a bit hard to find for new players; much more challenging from the tips for the better players though.

From the small part of the park that I saw on Saturday, this place is awesome! By coincidence I'm off Thursday & Friday, will probably go down there to play & take course pics. If anyone who knows the Pro tee locations wants to meet me so I can take pics from there also, that'd be cool.

Glad I didn't call in to go down there & play in the warmer temps we've got today

So, who's been out there?  Hows it look?

I've got the day off tomorrow so I plan on spending a few hours out there.
Vibram Disc Golf, Ledgestone Insurance, Paragon and Whirld Sports are all cool. Real cool.

well, heading out in a few minutes to play;  played there during League and walked the course Sunday;  looking good with redone West Park baskets, woodchips around baskets, etc ; One hole was somewhat "changed by a bulldozer as you'll see;  Do bring mosquito spray..

Anyone interested in playing Highland before the Joliet Pro Championships and would like to try and win some money while doing so is welcomed to come out to Highland Park Saturday October 18th for the Joliet Area disc golf league picnic.  The Grand Opening of Highland Park will take place around 11:30 and the first round of best shot will take place shortly after.

Anyone have an intersection or address?

It's across the street to the west side and up the hill from Pilcher Park; pretty much the whole park at Highland is disc golf now.
Woodruff golf course is also part of Pilcher Park so if you can find that, you are nearby. .There is no parking lot, so need to park in the gravel circle next to hole 1

I can't say enough about this course now that I've seen every hole & played it. Best course in Chicagoland right now, with Channahon 2nd and Oswego 3rd. I'll post later after I've uploaded pics and break down shots, but I didn't do the longs because I was pressed for time.

A cool site to get pictures up on and get some general scores in place for all courses is www.discgolfscene.com. Lots of cool features on there right now.

Is this course beginner friendly at all? I am thinking about heading down there tomorrow but the two guys I work with are still learning and I don't want them to not enjoy it or lose a lot of discs.

In my opinion it is a championship course. Very fun to play. It isn't easy by any means. The work that was done out there is incredible. Just the stairs that were put in was a ton of work. Kudos to everyone who made that happen!  :)

Hole     Red    White   Blue

1          212     275     275                  RHBH

2          232     262     352                  Lefty shot, two openings to the pin

3          280     288     288                  Lefty shot, OB on the left

4          325     450     575                  Route to pin snakes right then comes back left

5         240      240     240                  Blind right turning shot, steep slope behind pin

6         200      200     200                  Ravine shot, need to be to the right of the orange fenced area for a putt

7        315       425     425                  More open shot through corridor of more mature trees

8        305       305     330                  Shorter corridr shot, rough behing pin

9        425       512     625                  Long righty anhyzer with OB right and also behind pin

10      260       325     325                  Slighty uphill shot, 2 trees give 3 routes, lefty route has low branches. Pin behind a tree

11      270       315     475                  Uphill lefty shot, shule on right hand side

12      250       250     375                  Fun downhill shot from short tee, long tee forces a low right anhyzer that hooks up at end

13      240       240     240                  Steep hill right in front of tee, pin surrounded by cement bench posts

14      225       225     225                  Tight tunnel shot tapers left at end, steep hill behind pin

15      250       250     362                  Hilltop to hilltop ravine shot, crucial tree in center of 2nd hill makes route very tight

16      290       338     400                  Uphill shot that the park district recently graded in plain dirt...

17      400       525     525                  Lengthy hole, with deep shule left & park road OB right

18      300       300     300                  Slightly uphill wooded shot, few trees protecting the pin

One of the best things about the park is that they set it up links style, so that both 1-9 and 10-18 start & end at the parking lot

Benches or log seat on every hole, great tee signs, wooden bridges, staricases, and a tough layout

I'd say it's pretty evenly balanced. Hafta play it with a lefty to be sure, but I put 1,6,15, and 17 as RH shots, with 2,3,5, and 11 as the lefty shots.
