Sweet on the long term goals and I'm looking forward to 2009 for renumbering the course.

What about pushing #5 back?

Mirth,

Can you make a new map for Bevier. Something that can be enlarged & placed in the bulletin board?

Brett called and asked I post that hole 9 has been moved. Its now across the creek on the bank. Its a turnover putter or flick shot. No word on when 4 will be moved.

There's been some ideas on declaring some ob on hole 5. I'll let Brett post his thoughts on that.

Thank you Adrian Sr. for the help. That guy is a machine!!

The basket is around the corner on the right hand side. It's across the creek on the bank.  There is a nice path leading to the basket. We cleaned up the green around the basket.

You have several options.

1. Throw a lefty hyzer.
2. Throw a right forehand.
3. Throw a turnover shot.
4. Throw a straight/slight anhyzer safe then try to make a putt across the creek.

This hole is much tougher now. The tree to the left of the tee now comes into play. That thick rough on the right comes into play. The creek is now in play. As that area around the basket gets harder that green is going to get faster. Many putts that hit the bin will roll down the bank into the creek.

As for hole #5.

For league & tournaments I would like to see it played like this.

On the sidewalk & to the right out of bounds.
On the path & to the left out of bounds.

This tightens up the green and makes the over the top route much more of a risk/reward type shot especially when the wind picks up. This would start to bring the original route back into play.  I'd say 90% of the shots are over the top at this point.

i totally agree that would make that hole one of the best on the course.

Thanks to Brett and Sr. for moving the basket on hole number 18 (old number  9). If I didn't mind the mosquitoes and the two inches of rain and the lightning I would have played it today. Nice shooting Justin!

I like the new position. Its the perfect stratus shot, parked it for the ctp yesterday.

The tree off the tee closest to the fairway certainly adds in the pucker factor!

WPD is at the course right now. Brett walked around with Scott from the Park District and discussed some current and future plans for the course....

They're currently replenishing wood chips back in the woods and clearing out all the downed trees and brush that have fallen lately.
Hole 4 is being moved back near where the old alternate tee for hole 5 is located.
The original tee signs' faceplates will be removed within the next couple weeks and rehabbed. New posts will be installed across the street and sometime in late fall or over the winter faceplates will be installed.

I'm working on a map to give to WPD for use in replacing the old permanent map by hole 1, replacing the map in the message board, and for potentially printing up brochures with the course and club info on one side and maybe a scorecard on the other side.

If I've forgotten something or if there's additional information I'm sure Brett will chime in once he gets home.

There are some interesting plans for the park in the 3-5 year range, be curious if it happens as planned. There's a potential for additional holes....

Thanks for the post Mirth.

I'd like to thank the Waukegan Parks District. They are the best when it comes to making changes and getting work done. They will do pretty much anything asked if it's reasonable and in their budget. I wish all park districts were this easy to work with. Bevier has come a long way from the old 9-holer days. Thank you WPD!

Short Term Plans
Hole #4 is being moved today.
Old Hole #9 anchor is being removed. (The placement across the creek)
Wood chips in the woods. They are sticking to the new paths making the course flow better.

Long Term
New Map (Thanks Mirth!)
Hole #1 Addition of trees.
They are going to remove the face plates on the tee signs then repaint & refinish the poles to extend their life.
They are going to install new poles for the 9 holes that do not have tee signs.
New face plates will be installed.
Addition of next tee signs.
They hope to have the tee signs completed by next spring.

Longer Term
The soccer complex in Waukegan is scheduled to open in the spring of 2011. They plan on installling a pavillion and planting trees where the soccer field is now. Scott mentioned some possible expansion. We'll see what happens when that time comes.
