This looks like a nice course, with some decent distances for a noodle-arm like me. Very cool!!!!

I drove past there today. There aren't any trees. Didn't look like there were any signs, tees or baskets yet, but it said the course doesn't open until April 15th. It might still offer some challenge with elevation changes and potential wind. Most of the park sits on the slope of a big hill. The retention ponds have steep, long banks that could be tricky to play from after an errant throw. It looks like a park in need of some use. I hope this is a good match.

I driven by that park several times if i'm not mistaken. Very wide open with a big hill. Interesting.

The course will open this spring for the first time and was designed and installed by the Palatine Park District and a resident Eagle Scout. The course is only open from April until October because it is very hilly and used for sledding in the winter. The targets and tee markers would be a hazard for the sledders.

The course is now open. Let me know what you think. We will be adding more trees later in the year.

Myk, I'd like to get up and play Sussex. There's a tournament there sometime this summer (Wham Bam Thank You Am).

I played a course in Saukville, WI not too long ago. There was still about 7 or 8 inches of snow on the ground so I'd like to go back and play. It's a pretty challenging course.

Scottish Highlands disc golf in Illinois! This is a GREAT 9 hole disc golf course!!! It doesn't look like much from the parking lot, but playing it is a different story. There are trees, they are just small and scrubby. With no leaves on them, they were hard to see from the parking lot. The distance on most holes lets me open up but even for the big arm its challenging. The wind was a big factor when I played and when you get off the fairway you will be looking at UP shots and I mean like 30 feet UP! Off the fairway often means that you are throwing your upshot from the long banks of the retention pond. I think only rollers really have a chance of going into one of the two rentention ponds, but the banks are so long and steep that they make play very interesting. It might also be why they plan to pull the course in the winter. Trying to play on the banks during the winter might be hazardous. There are other elevation changes to challenge drives and upshots.

Two marks against the course:

1) Right hand, back hand drives from tee 6 tend to land in the fairway and tee area of hole 7. Also drives from tee 9 tend to land in fairway 5 but its a bit less of a problem. Hole 6 and 7 need to be redesigned.

2) The tee pads are weird. They are only about 2 feet by 3 feet and they are somekind of open grid walking paver. We just teed up behind them. Hopefully they are just temporary.

Brett, do you have a contact for that park? If you do, please e-mail it to me. I'd like to see if I can make positive contact to offer some solutions.

I played the course again today on my way home from work. Much less wind this time. I shot like +6 in the really heavy wind on Saturday. Today I was -2 after 8 but then 3 putted 9 for an even round (that's even off par 3, of course).

And if Jason, the guy I was helping to look for his disc, if you're lurking out here, I didn't find your disc but will keep a look out the next time I play.

I played here this weekend. That wind is killer. It wasn't windy at all by my house which is like 10 minutes away and i got there and got killed by 25 mph+ winds. The head wind wasn't too much of a problem because the length isn't huge but anything else took my disc anywhere but towards the basket. The slopes make this course play a lot harder than it looks.

There's just something strange about throwing a burner into the wind and instead of making your upshot from halfway down the fairway, you are making it from 150 feet right of the basket and 50 feet below.
